Picture this, Kyles Filers.Me, and at least 40 other people standing in the Skycab line for Southwest Airlines.  We are all one shade shy of miserable, standing in the hot Tampa, FL sun, slowly inching our bodies and bags along on the way to check our bags.  Then, he walks up.  He's big.  He's loud. And he's got baggage, both the literal and emotional kind.  Find out more about this moron after the jump.......
The Bitching of a Spoiled Child: Catholic Leader Wants Entitlement Back!
2009-01-30 19:38:00
I've become increasingly nervous for Britain (and many pockets of Europe) over recent years because of the hotpot of Islamism that seems to be simmering and splattering out into society there, so I find the whinings of British Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor to be particularly reassuring. In a nutshell, Murphy-O'Connor is ...
Saddleback says you CAN'T ESCAPE THE PAIN!!

Saddleback Church - Does the bible say it is alright to divorce a spouse that is abusing you? Question 32. Danni at Because it matters beat me to the transcript as I was doing the same thing. lol She is faster than I am! Anyway, here is what was said:Someone asked this out of their heart though, ?Does the Bible say it is alright to divorce a spouse who is abusing you. I think that?s an excellent question of Scripture. It?s not like you can escape the pain. You think you are. There?s an immediate release when you divorce and you think I?ve escaped the pain but anyone in this room who has been divorced you could come up here and give testimony after testimony after testimony after testimony to say that, no, you don?t escape the pain. There?s still a pain there. It?s a long-term pain. It may come years later when a son or daughter graduates from high school and they have to get back together somehow and make that thing work. It may come years later as you talk with a new spouse and an ...
Entitlement of an Abusive Mind
2008-12-17 14:35:00
When I speak to those that I know that don't have to deal with domestic abuse, or should I say don't really recognize its there is always one word they can relate to ENTITLEMENT! I remember once sitting waiting for another party to show up for a business lunch one day, and the gentleman that was there was talking about his girlfriend's xhusband. It wasn't out of vindictive nature or really anger. It was more confusion over his behavior towards NOT her, but their children they had together. It seemed like a rather new relationship at the time, and he remembers how she was thankful for his help with the dinner dishes. I mean REALLY thankful almost shocked that he would do that at all! He mentioned - as he shook his head in amazement - how this man had certain hours placed aside that she was 'allowed' to vaccum so it didn't interrupt his television viewing. His peace and quiet that he needed in the evenings so he could relax. He really seemed disturbed at his views on how he w...
Entitlement Anyone - Who Me?
2008-10-23 14:32:00
A few days ago Jeff was off from work on a school day. We had the opportunity to have the house to ourselves. Which is not something that happens very often. We decided to get some lunch to go from one of our favorite spots and then watch a movie at home. Jeff called in the order while I drove the 20 minutes to pick it up. This spot is a bit of a drive from our house and it is a little more expensive than our normal fare.I ended up getting bad service and the food ended up being edible but not as spectacular as usual. We are currently having to tighten the belt with our finances quite a bit. I was extremely disappointed that I had spent so much money and time to get this special lunch and then it was not a pleasant experience. I told Jeff that I was over that restaurant and I had no plans to ever go back. He agreed.Later I was driving Mandy to work and told her about the experience. When I got to the part about never wanting to go back, she got very upset with me. For the...

Welcome to entitlement land
2008-05-31 02:06:00
I was discharging a young lady who had called an ambulance because she didn't want to walk to be seen for her armpit abscess. I was reviewing the discharge instructions when she interrupted me in the middle of a sentence - "you gonna give me dressing stuff?" Now to be honest, we often do give dressing supplies for a couple of days but this girl was just too much, she had been rude when she got sent to triage, she was snotty when she had to wait for the doctor, who was in the middle of a code. She had asked for a blanket, a phone and a sandwich the minute she got put in the room. Frankly I was fed up and not inclined to give her any favors so I told her that mini pads make great dressings - which they do, we recommend those and maxi pads quite a bit - they are cheap and stick inside your clothing or stick good to tape. Then she wanted a free cab and when she was told no she snottily said "WELL......I GUESS I'll just have to WALK since you won't pay for a cab."Yep, I guess yo...

The Audacity of Entitlement
2008-05-23 07:34:00
You are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness … you are not entitled to everything that you want. You are entitled to pursue all things, but you are not guaranteed you should have all of those things. There’s a big difference and many Americans don’t see the difference. Some people ...

A Culture of Entitlement and Corruption in Toronto
2008-05-09 23:35:00
Toronto Catholic school trustees' fat perks blastedThe culture of entitlement and corruption seems alive and well in the Toronto Catholic School Board. No wonder teachers and the general public are cynical about those who make important decisions about our children’s education. Below I have taken the liberty of reproducing a story in today’s Star detailing this betrayal of the public trust. I have placed in bold certain parts of the article.STEVE RUSSELL/TORONTO STAR Provincial adviser Norbert Hartmann is blasting the culture of entitlement at the Toronto catholic school board. May 08, 2008 04:30 AM Kerry Gillespie and Kristin Rushowy STAFF REPORTERSA culture of entitlement among Toronto Catholic trustees saw them hire relatives, double dip on restaurant bills and approve car allowances and health benefits, despite being told by board staff and lawyers such perks weren't allowed, says a scathing report.Trustee expenses have ballooned since 2003 and are now among the highest...
Hillary Clinton: narcissism and entitlement
2008-04-27 11:42:00
Barack Obama is clearly the Democratic candidate of choice. On paper he is unbeatable. There is no way he can lose the pledged delegate lead, short of imploding.Hillary Clinton claims she is more electable. If the superdelegates were to hand her the nomination despite being behind on the popular vote and the pledged delegate count, it would fracture the party and might very well pave the way for a McCain victory - a victory that would be aided by the many Obama supporters who would almost certainly sit out the vote as a form of protest.Clinton's quixotic candidacy is being driven by ego, hubris and an inappropriate conviction of entitlement. Narcissism touches everything she does - all the way from her carefully choreographed cosmetic image to stories she has been spinning that don't stand up under scrutiny - the Bosnia "under fire" fiction being the most recent example. There seems to be no limit to what she is prepared to say and do if it looks as though it might enhance her imag...

Orissa Violence - Incendiary Entitlement not Communalism
2007-12-29 08:19:00
If the recent violence in Orissa’s Kandhamal District was all about Hindutva Goons hounding Christian Missionaries why did Orissa Steel and Mines Minister Padmanabha Behera, who hails from the violence-hit Kandhamal district, resign from his post ? In the answer to this question lies the disingenuous template the media has applied in reporting recent events in ...

Another type of entitlement
2007-10-11 06:06:00
you read a lot in blogs etc. about the sense of entitlement we see in a good portion of the poor, welfare dependent, 'disabled', medicaid population. It has always fascinated me that people who contribute nothing to society feel that society needs to drop everything and be at their beck and call. How do people get that way? were you raised that way? I sure wasn't. I was brought up in a family where you were expected to pull your own weight. I had a full-time job at 15, they weren't too particular about child labor laws then. I have worked full-time plus since then except for maternity leaves. We were expected to pitch in at home, we all had chores we did every day and if we didn't get them done......well let's just say we got them done because we respected our parents and we knew there would be consequences. And they never laid a hand on us. Where did that kind of society go?Well there is another type of person with a massive sense of entitlement, they are usually we...

Entitlement and Marriage by Shalene
2007-09-11 21:59:00
There is a plethora of advice out there for marriages these days. We are all aware of just how important a healthy marriage is, especially in light of the high divorce rates in both Christian and non- Christain marriages. We learn about "Love Languages", we learn about "seasons" of marriages, we learn about "promises" we can make to one another, but I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that the only advice and wisdom we need to have healthy marriages can be found in the Bible, if we will but apply it in our lives, and apply it consistently.Mutual Submission- Having a Servant's Heart Ephesians 5:18-29 NKJV These verses tell us how we are to behave towards our spouses. Women are to submit to their husbands, as they do to the Lord. Knowing that a faithful man will be mutually submissive in his love for her. It's not difficult to be submissive to a faithful man, but what if he's not, or not enough? What then? Well, to be blunt: You still have to do it. Just because one person...
Remove fuss and fuzz from employment leave entitlements
2007-08-21 18:25:00
Australian employment law is a complex matrix, even for lawyers specialising in the area. Core employment law concepts, such as leave entitlements have been given new meanings since 2005 by Work Choices legislation. While this is a difficult and dry topic, it has first rank practical implications for workplace morale and the long term financial wellbeing of employers and employees.
Pollution: The New Entitlement [The Corpus Callosum]
2007-07-07 09:07:00
The term “entitlement” has garnered a strongly negative connotation in recent years.  Usually, the word entitlement is used to refer to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, plus other programs that provide direct assistance (Aid to Families with Dependent Children, student aid, housing, food stamps and other nutrition programs, and direct public assistance).   Of course, there is also a class of entitlements that do not go to individuals; rather, they go to corporations in what is sometimes called corporate welfare.  Admittedly, it can be difficult to decide exactly which programs fall into the category of corporate welfare.  Even so, I think most people would agree that it is reasonable to expect people, and corporations, to take care of their own trash.  When corporations are allowed to escape this responsibility, it is a form of corporate welfare. On December 11, 1980, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liabil...
New holiday entitlement regulations will see salary costs increase by 3% fo
2007-06-25 13:00:00
New holiday entitlement regulations will see wage costs increase by 3% for some employers, a legal expert has warned. Under the Working Time (Amendment) Regulations 2007, which is expected to come into force on 1 October 2007, full-time workers will have their holiday entitlement increased from a minimum of 20 days paid annual leave, to 24 days, and then to 28 days on 1 April 2009. According to law firm Bird Bird, it means that all workers will have a minimum of 20 days of paid holiday in addition to eight bank holidays. This translates into a 40% increase in their holiday entitlement and wage costs for some employers will increase by more than 3% as a result. Bird Bird has urged employers to adjust their holiday policies to comply with the new legislation. Elizabeth Lang, employment lawyer at Bird Bird, said: ?This change is going to have a real financial effect on many employers. This may particularly be the case in sectors that rely heavily on agency workers and...
Employers welcome two-stage implementation of extended holiday entitlement
2007-06-15 10:00:00
Employers? groups have broadly welcomed the government?s approach to implementing new holiday entitlements for workers. The regulations increase the minimum holiday entitlement from 20 days a year to 24 days this October, and to 28 days from April 2009, six months later than originally proposed. There is also a so-called ?early implementation incentive? whereby employers will be exempt from the regulations if they already comply with the policy aims. Peter Schofield, director of legal and employment affairs at manufacturers? organisation the EEF, said: ?The government should be applauded for recognising that there is no need to add to the burden on good employers who are already meeting the aim of the regulations. ?This is a perfect example of better regulation rewarding good practice with a lighter regulatory regime.? CBI deputy director-general John Cridland said the government was right to introduce the extension of statutory annual leave gradually over the next two...
Mercer HR research finds UK has least holiday entitlement in Europe
2007-06-08 18:37:00
The UK is bottom of the pile when it comes to annual holiday entitlement for employees, pan-European research has found. A study of statutory leave and public holidays across all 27 EU states found that holiday entitlement can vary by up to 16 days depending on which country you live and work in. Employees in the UK can expect 28 days off a year, compared with the 44 enjoyed by Finnish workers, the research by Mercer HR Consulting found. The figures are based on statutory entitlements for an employee working five days a week, with 10 years' service. The average leave and public holiday entitlement across all states is 34 days. Surprisingly, Eastern European countries such as Slovenia, Lithuania and Estonia are particularly generous when it comes to time off for employees. Mark Sullivan, worldwide partner at Mercer, said: "Holiday entitlements are a lottery. Even though efforts have been made to harmonise employment practices in the EU, there are still large disparities...
Entitlement Programs are Destroying Our Collective Balance Sheet

Social Security and Medicare entitlement promises are completely out of control. Right now, our government owes more than $500,000 for every household in the country. Paulson on entitlement programs: "Rising costs will drive government spendi
2007-04-26 07:44:00
I've got a silly question. Why doesn't anyone in America seem to care that we're lurching toward insolvency? Or that the baby boom generation looted the treasure of the United States, at the expenses of all future generations? One day soon we're going to have to face up to our problems, if we want to or not. And I can tell you one thing - Generation X and Generation Y are gonna be PISSED when they finally figure out what the baby boomers were up to (with their money). The trustees who oversee Social Security and Medicare issued new warnings yesterday that the two programs are becoming unaffordable but pushed back slightly their predictions of when the crunch will hit.By 2017, Social Security will pay out more in benefits than it collects in taxes, the trustees said in their annual report. The program's trust fund is projected to be exhausted by 2041, one year later than estimated last year.Medicare, which serves more than 43 million elderly and disabled people, is in worse shape, ...
