Eragon - Movie Review
2008-04-05 02:21:00 Eragon was released in 2006 but I still love to watch this movie. If you are like me in any way, the mystical and mythological portions of the movie is the attractiveness of the film itself. This is a very family friendly movie and if you have not yet seen this movie, I would recommend checking it out for family night. Also, there is a complete line of books for this movie. The Kingdom of Alagaesia is being ruled by the evil King Galbatorix. He has a Shade that has mystical powers beyond belief and he tries to get the peasants under his heel in terror. Gailbatorix was once a great dragon rider himself until he betrayed his people and their kind for greed and power. He has a very powerful army and a very closely guarded castle. Eragon, nothing more that a 17 year old farm boy living with his uncle and cousin is out on day and finds a shiny blue stone. So he thought that it was a stone until it hatches. It's a typical fantasy world full of dragons, wizards, and magic, which would seem to lend itself well to a video game adaptation in the vein of the very good series of Lord of the Rings action games that came out alongside those movies. In fact, the Eragon game bears a striking resemblance to those Lord of the Rings games, which only makes sense because the games were all developed by the same company. But while the Lord of the Rings games were well-polished action games, Eragon feels unfinished and lazily thrown together. It's the same basic hack-and-slash principle that's readily accessible to just about any fan of the film, but Eragon feels like a skeleton of a game that's been padded out with some licensed content. 2007-08-14 11:00:00 Very disappointing really and ultimately very Lord of the Rings-lite. There is a host of terrible acting including Robert Carlyle and John Malkovich who are unexpectedly hammy. Consummate professional Jeremy Irons tries as much as possible with the lines he has been given. Edward Speelers plays the eponymous Eragon and is verging on the side of irritating. The special effects are ropey in places. If you feel you must watch this, fast forward to the last 20 minutes, where the big dragon battle takes place. This is a JM THUMBS DOWN.

2007-03-13 23:15:00 Oh ! Encore une adaptation ! Nous en voyons tellement apparaître sur tous les supports disponibles qu'il est difficile de dire si certaines valent le coup ou pas. Disponible depuis le mois de décembre dernier, Eragon ne bénéficiait malheureusement pas d'une très bonne réputation en raison des critiques très mitigées du film. Il est donc toujours assez ardu de débuter une partie sur ce genre de jeux sans préjugés. Pourtant, à LiveDS, nous avons tenté l'expérience. Il en ressort le test qui suit. Bonne lecture !

However it has some pretty nice moments: Handsome Ed Speleers (post about Ed see below) is shirtless for about five seconds. Thanks!
