2008-04-21 15:49:00 David Golebiewski of The Transaction Guy analyzed Angels' starter Ervin Santana with Pitch F/X data. He likes what he sees, for the most part. Here are his numbers so far: 4 starts 27 innings 6.75 IP/start 2.67 ERA 0.96 WHIP...

Line of the Day: Ervin Santana
2008-04-20 01:59:00 I think most fantasy managers wrote Ervin off completely after last year. but he's now 4-for-4 in quality starts this season with three wins. Hell, he's looking even better now than he did in 2006, when he won 16 games.Ervin Santana: 8 IP, 3 hits, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K for the W.

Josh Hamilton and Ervin Santana
2008-04-15 03:22:00 Watching the Rangers/Angels game, a fantasy player can't help but look at the score in the bottom of the third inning and think, "Why is Ervin Santana so bad on the road?" I can't answer it, but I was fortunate to get my priorities straight to watch Rangers' CF Josh Hamilton. Batting third with 13 RBIs so far, one has to marvel at the fact he had not played baseball for four years (2003-2006) and had not made it past High A when he stopped playing. While he has not stolen bases the way he had in his early seasons (18 in 1999 and 14 in 2000), you could still see that athleticism in the bottom of the third when he went 1st to third on a single to centerfield by Milton Bradley. Back to Santana, he was given a two-run start and immediately gave-up three runs in the bottom of the 1st. He did settle down with two shut-out innings after that including getting out of a 2nd & 3rd with one-out bottom of the 3rd. With an utter lack of quality fantasy pitching in ...

Rays' Kazmir May Be Available
2007-11-05 15:15:00 The week in hot stove kicks off with a bang: Joel Sherman of the New York Post has a source saying the Devil Rays might listen to offers for ace lefty Scott Kazmir. Kazmir turns 24 in January and carries a 3.64 career ERA despite pitching in the AL East. He's been particularly tough on the Red Sox (2.66 ERA in 101 innings). You have to think that if the Yankees are entertaining making an offer for Johan Santana, they'd consider Kazmir as well if the Rays would deal within the division. Sherman notes that Kazmir is under contract for three years as opposed to just one for Santana, which could equate the two pitchers in the marketplace. Erik Bedard, under control for two years, has to be in that group of elite, possibly available southpaws as well. Sherman believes the Rays would seek "multiple high-end pitchers" for Kazmir, who is entering arbitration for the first time this winter. The Yankees could offer a package starting with Phil H...

Ervin Santana's Struggles Hamstring Angels Trading
2007-08-03 02:59:00 Former 16-game winner Ervin Santana continued to struggle at Triple A Salt Lake, giving up 13 hits and six earned runs over six innings in a 13-7 victory over Albuquerque in which Santana was credited with the win.Santana's difficulties have hamstrung the Angels ability to trade young starter Joe Saunders for a big bat, as Saunders cannot be spared because former ace Bartolo Colon's injuries have left him questionable for the remainder of the season, while Santana remains utterly unworthy of a return to Los Angeles any time soon.Meanwhile the Angels are so desperate for offense that the team has been reduced to occasionally batting 30-year-old utility infielder-outfielder Robb Quinlan in the cleanup position.

Ervin Santana Dislikes The Los Angeles Media?.
2007-05-25 23:17:00 or is it the Anaheim media or the Los Angeles of Anaheim media. Ervin Santana blew up yesterday at reporters after he was shellacked in his latest road start. He didn’t like it when a reporter asked him what he expects if he get’s demoted to Triple-A Salt Lake City. “No,” he snapped. “What kind of ...

Ervin Santana (P-LAA)
2007-05-15 22:06:00 Just another lineup reminder about Angels SP Ervin Santana: Sit him when he's on the road. Per Yahoo! Sports, Santana's lifetime numbers away from home: 9-15, 6.69 ERA (30 GS). Until Santana and the team figure this out, sit him for all road starts, even against weak-hitting teams.

Ervin Santana: Primed For Solid Season
2007-03-05 10:44:03 Demonstrating an improved slider and changeup, the Angels? Ervin Santana threw a pair of scoreless innings in Thursday?s Spring Training matchup with the Royals. Santana won 16 games and finished second in the American League with 7.99 hits allowed per nine innings in 2006 -- all at the tender age of 23. Most owners would be happy if he simply duplicated those numbers in 2007, but the talented right-hander may be primed to take another step forward with the refinement of his secondary pitches.
