It seems there is only one choice and that is accepting one's fate. But at the end of the poem there is a note of defiance in the cry of a human being. This is the only way a man differs from an animal.The poem presents a very poignant and reality of human lives. We too can identify ourselves with it. Each day, every moment, everytime we have to make a decision we are at crossroads because social constraints weigh heavy upon our minds. So I feel this poem is a cry of a 'imprisoned' human soul.
