2008-04-21 16:00:00 I never knew I wanted a woodburning tool until I bought one on a whim with a 40% off coupon and since then I've been making my mark everywhere (and having a fabulous time).I bought a bunch of little wooden boxes, lined them with felt, glued mirrors inside the lids then burned a simple design on the top.Sometimes I painted the designs, sometimes I didn't (that's the kind of discretionary power I wield around here you know) but it's really an easy way to add a bit of style to things. Trace your picture in pencil--or transfer the image from an embroidery pattern--then lightly go over your design with the woodburning tool.This is really about the easiest craft in the entire world. 2008-03-28 19:06:00 Ifell in love with this beautiful capri set - but the top did not fit. I don’t usually wear bright yellow, but I just loved it anyway. Maybe it’s cuz it’s been winter here so long in Michigan, that I am SO ready for spring to stay - and this just says “sunshine”!  I wish I had taken a picture of the top before I re-created it. It had three lovely embroidered and apliqued flowers on it, so I took apart the top, and made it into this drawstring bag. I’ve listed it on Etsy, but if it does not sell - I won’t be too sad! And here’s the newest diaper addition. I just love this print. So now my girls are bringing me some of their clothes asking, “can we make a purse from THIS?” Just so the younger ones don’t try it on their own! I can just see them cutting up a dress their grandma gave them, trying to make a purse! Aarrrg!

Donut Jade Pendants
2008-03-22 16:33:00 I made these two wire wrap donut jade pendants today and I am quite happy with the results.The first one (green jade) is a commissioned piece and features 3 4mm pearls at the front and one at the back of the pendant, coral bead (red) and another 4mm green bead (not sure of the name).The second one is now available at my Etsy Shop (go check now!), features a donut pendant measuring about 3.7cm from top to bottom while at its widest part, the donut measures 3cm. The flower a the top is created with spring in mind. Faceted tourmaline briolettes form the petals while pearls of various sizes adorned the center and back of the pendant.

2008-02-09 23:46:00 A few days ago I finally received a small package from the States. I had seen a post at Design Crush about these wonderful rings. I liked them a lot. So I ordered two of them from Accessory à la Mode at her Etsy shop: one made of Sterling Silver and the other one of antiqued Brass.It was fun to open the package and the rings which were wrapped as little gifts. The seller does have an eye for details and you can feel her affection for her craft when you see her items.She had some personal problems, which led to a delayed shipping, so she added a coupon for the next purchase at her shop. By mistake she made two silver rings for me and when she realized that I had ordered a brass one, she made another one and sent me all three of them. I´m glad she did, because the silver rings are much prettier.

Plus I only had word to do them in, and that in of it's self is hard on a photoshop whore like me. I plan on using them to promote the shop when it gets a revamp after the holiday/move.I am also thinking about offering this kind of thing as a service for other etsians.What do you think? I finally had the time and energy to gather all my scarves, a sunny day last week to take photos, and time to re-charge the camera's battery which died half-way through the photo session. Then it took a little time to track down the data card which went missing from the camera while the battery was charging, because it turned out Dr. V. had filched it because he somehow managed to lose yet another one from his phone. Then I found a few minutes here to upload the pictures, a few minutes there to re-size and tweak the pictures, and a chunk o' time to upload the re-tooled pix to Etsy, measure the damn scarves, think of descriptions and calculate prices and tags and keywords and all the other random stuff I've been putting off for months.See over there in my sidebar? I just wanted to begin by saying that I am officially going to begin ranting (with solutions of course!) on weddings. I know that it's a very important day, one of the most important days in a bride and groom's life, but some of these events are getting out of control because some couples can't afford them yet go ahead with spending 80, 90, 100 grand on them!I think that it would be very interesting to plan an affair with a very heavy emphasis on design with the goal of keeping costs to something reasonable: reasonable = the new couple has money left over to actually start their lives together!
