Es gibt viele Erinnerungen, die sich da bei mir aufdrängen, einige habe ich sogar verbloggt, wie z. B. Toast Hawaii oder Vanillepudding, der unbedingt aus der Tüte sein muss. Legendär natürlich auch Leberkäs Hawaii, damit verbinde ich den ewigen Spruch: Muss man darauf achten, dass da kein Ei drankommt? Oder: Rindfleisch im eigenen Saft in der Goldlackdose, früher aus EVSt-Beständen, ist für mich der Inbegriff für Ferienlager bzw. Camping. EVSt, die Einfuhr- und Vorratsstelle für Schlachtvieh, Fleisch und Fleischerzeugnisse legte für Krisenzeiten Vorräte an. Wenn dann die Haltbarkeit dieser Produkte sich dem baldigen Ende näherte, wurden diese Dinge günstig angeboten. Die Dosen wurden von vielen aufgekauft, um es dann zu kulinarischen Highlights in Ferienlagern, heimischen Küchen etc. aufzubereiten. Wir haben sie für würdig befunden, als Beitrag zum Event einzureichen. Köstliche vegetatische Frikadellen, die auch gut mit Tsatziki schmecken. Die ursprüngliche Wahl fiel auf glasierten Honigschinken, scheiterte allerdings schon an der (spontanen) Beschaffung eines entsprechenden Fleischstückes. Deshalb fiel die Wahl auf einen Krustenbraten, ein Stück ungepökeltes Fleisch mit Schwarte aus der Keule, bzw. Unterschale. Den haben wir mit Persilade eingesalzen und nach Rezept zubereitet. Leider war die Kruste nach dem Einpinseln mit Honig und des Klimagarens schon sehr gebräunt, so dass wir auf deren Verzehr verzichtet haben. Schweinebraten mit Honigglasur und Ananaskraut Auch ohne Kruste sehr lecker und sehr zart, sogar der Honiggschmack ließ sich noch erahnen. The chairs were very comfortable so I wasn't disappointed, and within minutes the people started showing up one at a time. Before I knew it, the place was packed! Sunday River nabs World Cup snowboarding event!
2008-06-04 03:58:00 In 2001, Jeremy Bloom and Johnny Moseley dueled on the bumps of White Heat in an F.I.S. World Cup Freestyle Mogul stop at Sunday River, Maine. While the event was a huge success and brought the spotlight to Sunday River, it's been 7 long years since a World Cup event of any sort has beckoned. Meanwhile, Sugarloaf, Maine has hosted two U.S. Alpine Championships. Sunday River has been fortunate to remain on the radar of the USSA by hosting a few snowboard Grand Prixs, but the World Cup is a whole different level and with the event straddling February and March of 2009, the names competing will be many of the same that will don their nations colors the following year in whistler for the Olympics.

Secret Service: No guns allowed at NRA event with John McCain

I simply cannot believe that the NRA didn't call for a massive protest just as soon as they heard that no guns would be allowed inside of the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. According to an NRA spokesperson, Secret Service members have stepped in and said while firearms will still be allowed in the convention center, they will not be allowed in the Celebration of American Values Forum. But what happened to the part of the Second Amendment that reads, "shall not be infringed?" Guess the NRA is not quite as powerful a gun lobbying group as they want the world to think that they are.
