Back from Paris
2008-05-19 19:03:00 The weekend in Paris was absolutely fantastic. The city is just amazing, magical and extraordinary. I saw the Alec Soth show "The Space Between Us" at the Musée Jeu de Paume and it was really worthwhile to go on this trip for it. In the first room were photographs from his "Portraits" series, then came the room with works from his "Fashion Magazine" project (the third photo is taken in this room). The next room was "Dog days Bogota" then came "Sleeping by the Mississippi" and the last room was "Niagara" The prints are so wonderful in different sizes from small to really big. I spent a long time there and could not get enough from this fantastic photographs. To see the works in the books is one thing (which I also love) but to see the big prints on the wall is a totally different experience. © all images Michael WernerI also was able to spent the rest of the Saturday taking photos in Paris and I am really excited about the results. I am already looking forward to going back to Paris ...

Often drawn first to the working desks, studies or libraries of his subjects, he was also attracted sometimes by other areas such as bedrooms, which may have nurtured dreams and musings, as well as drawing- and dining-rooms where echoes may still be caught of conversation among family and friends. The DZ Bank in Frankfurt has one of the worlds biggest and finest collections of contemporary photography. In the foyer of one of their glamorous buildings in Frankfurt they have a small gallery where they show several exhibitions a year. Since I love the photographs of Mitch Epstein I was absolutely thrilled to see his original prints. I would have loved to just put the works in my car and then put them on my own walls. Unfortunately the website of the bank with the collection is only in German. For everyone who can read German, check it out here

Planning your time at exhibitions and conferences
2008-01-17 13:09:00 Planning your time at exhibitions and conferences:This is a short post today, and too the point I hope. I have been in companies where the, sales, marketing and R&D guys see the attendance to these events as mandatory, and a "jolly", where manning a stand or exhibit is to be avoided and every night is one big party ? does this ring any bells. I suggest a strategy to get as much value from these events as possible, I have heard engineers come back from these events and be asked by the rest of the staff, so how was it? and they get a 20min discourse on the beer , wine and women, and 5min on the content of the event. These events are primarily a major networking event, and information gathering, you never really make any big sales or sign any deals at these events, the purpose changes when you are a multi million business where , you need to be there, for presence, our you could just break the mold. PreparationBefore the event you have a "campaign meeting" set the ground rules, dre...

Despite the crowded rooms and ‘Egyptian style’ musak, I was waiting for the moment when I would come face to face with the death ...
