Fact Or Fiction? (Water On The Moon)
2009-09-23 06:07:00
It looks like news of the possibility of water on Earth’s little sister Luna is creating a lot of excitement amongst the space geeks community. NASA is scheduled to release the findings this Thursday, which should either boost the cause for lunar exploration at its most dismal period, or cause a collective yawn throughout the media. Previous ...

Darkcloud wrote a new blog post: "In fact he was consumed with an almost suicidal self-loathing." It is 10:01 AM Thursday morning in the flow of existence scream. I say all the time “existence is screaming byâ€. I see someone screaming when I think about existence. Life is a scream not a shout. Life is not a hoot. I got up this morning around 6:30 AM. Sathya Sai Baba Man Gerald Moreno and Fact-Changing
2009-08-19 01:44:00
I direct my readers to an article just posted by Robert Priddy, retired academic of the University of Oslo and former head of the Sathya Sai Organization in Norway. He writes: ... "the pro-Sai extremist Joe Moreno claims that ?anti-Sai activists? withheld the transcript of the second part of a phone conversation which David Bailey had with Thomas Wiehe of Sweden. This is entirely untrue. Both parts of the phone conversation were transcribed from the start. Surely one of the worst cases of Internet libel is that of the Gerald 'Joe' Moreno. It is known that he cooperates with those around Sathya Sai Baba, both prominent and rank-and-file individuals. That Sai devotees would support one who so constantly uses language of a kind that Sai Baba's own discourses abundantly inveigh against more than suggests a desperation by many of his devotees to see their guru defended at any cost.
Healthcare Reform: Separating Fact from Fiction
2009-08-13 15:33:00
Fiction makes great story, doesn't it? I love a good beach read...suspense, colorful characters and drama. However, I don't care for it in my news and especially not when we're trying to make big decisions regarding the health of my patients, my family and myself. Dr. Tim Johnson on ABC has been doing a nice job of distinguishing the real facts. You've known him a lot longer than you've known me and I can't really do any better than what he's been broadcasting.  So I'm going to refer you directly to this resource.  This is the one to watch, folks. Some of what you're hearing is right up there with the legend of the Jackalope. Whee!!!!...

Summer rally: Fact or fiction?
2009-08-06 14:00:00
"While the Summer Rally is one of the oldest, and most popular truisms on Wall Street, it is also one of the most erroneous," says Jim Stack, who looks at "fact vs. fiction" in summer rally forecasts. Adding credence to his forecast, the market historian, money manager and editor of InvesTech Market Analyst not only successfully forecast the recent bear market but also moved to a 97% invested position just after the March bottom."Although it can be said that the stock market often rallies sometime during the summer months, from a recent low, the same could be said for any month out of the year."And here’s the clincher… Such rallies during the early summer months of May, June and July have historically shown the smallest potential gains for all 12 months of the year! "We analyzed the average DJIA gain from each month’s low to a subsequent rally high over the next 3 months -- based on data that has been compiled from the past ...

Fact or Fiction: Jerry Reinsdorf is cheap
2009-07-03 18:29:00
A common perception of Jerry Reinsdorf, chairman of the board of the Bulls ownership group, is that he's cheap.   That the Bulls are simply a cash cow where winning titles isn't important, and only the bottom line is.    In order to discuss whether this is true or not I've focused on Forbes' Business of Basketball series of articles and Business of Baseball series of articles to test Reinsdorf's spending patterns versus his peers....

City Council Finally Gets It Seven Months After The Fact
2009-07-03 06:29:00
It only took seven months. But it seems that Chicago City Council members finally got a chance to get an understanding of the heinous $1.16 billion dollar parking meter lease deal they signed back in December of last year. In nearly five hours of hearings, the Chicago Council, back pedaled with enough ferocity to power the entire northside for a month. The hearings organized by 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore, to once again grill representatives of Chicago Parking Meters, LLC, (the new lessee of Chicago's parking meters), William Blair, Morgan Stanley, the Daley Administration and the city's law department....

Of course. But I imagine (or at least I'd like to believe) that the majority of parents out there would admit that their lives - and I'm talking solely tangible/lifestyle aspects of their lives - have substantially improved since the creation of a larger family. But I'm here to admit for myself (NOTE: only for myself) that some very major things that are/were not so great at all can be attributed directly back to Sweetie's existence. The fact is: I would not have the chronic back pain I have - and have had for 6 years now - had I not carried Sweetie for 9 months...

Myth vs Fact #376
2009-01-06 12:51:00
Myth Fact Islam: Religion of peace. Sahih Muslim Book 19, Number 4294: It has been reported from Sulaiman b. Buraid through his father that when the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) appointed anyone as leader of an army or detachment he would especially exhort him to fear Allah and to be good to the Muslims who were with him. He would say: Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war, do not embezzle the spoils; do not break your pledge; and do not mutilate (the dead) bodies; do not kill the children. When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. Then invite them to migrate from their lands to the land of Muhairs and inform them that...
