If you're ever going to get a flat tire, I highly recommend that it happens on I-66 Eastbound between Courthouse and Rosslyn on a late Sunday afternoon when the weather is perfect and you can maneuver your car into the shoulder on an exit ramp. I checked my big-money team yesterday somewhat hastily. I saw that I had seven runs, four home runs, and eight RBIs, so it looked like a pretty good day offense-wise. Then I notice this morning that I had lost several points in batting average. What could have happened?My team went 6-for-49 yesterday for a robust batting average of .122. Now, four home runs in six hits is a nice ratio, but holy crap. I can't remember the last time I've seen a team have RBI and run totals that were each in excess of the total hits. Basically, it's the equivalent of being able to do a standing back flip, yet have this happen to you:

It seems that MLB, after years of granting fairly affordable licenses to purveyors of fantasy products, finally decided to exert more control over the publicly available statistics generated by its players during games. A lawsuit, of course, commenced. Surprising the entire sports industry, MLB lost at the trial and appellate level.Well, MLB decided to appeal and were denied an "en banc" hearing (of all appellate justices) a few months ago. The only avenue left was the U.S. Supreme Court. This morning, the Supreme Court decided not to hear the case. Ding dong, the witch is dead. Essentially, 10 bloggers will select a pitcher and hitter every week based on their expectations for how they will perform on Sunday. Here are the rules and order/picks for Week 1: Rules: Player Selection: Rotating Order on a Weekly Basis No one player can be selected twice No player in the Yahoo! Big Board can be selected.
