Hip Hop 4 Prez: Farrakhan Speaks On Barack Obama
2008-05-03 19:53:00
Say what you want about Farrakhan...but he has a lot of game. EDIT NOTE: I have been criticized for not "expanding" more on my thoughts in this post. But my retort is...what else can I say that the minister didn't already say?! Plus, this is Saturday. I just wanted to post some ish for folks who may not have been up on "game." But I will say this, the world has always been afraid of folks how have spoken with a prophetic voice. That doesn't matter if it's been Joseph (of the Old Testament ) Jesus, John The Baptist, or Jeremiah Wright. A prophet is never accepted in his or her own land.

Did You Know They Were Jamaican?: Minister Louis Farrakhan
2008-03-06 18:38:00
Leader of the Nation of Islam, and one of the most charismatic and controversial black leaders of our times, The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan is a full-blooded West Indian. Louis Eugene Walcott was born on May 11, 1933 in the Bronx, NY to a mother who was a native of St. Kitts and Nevis and a father who was a Jamaican cab driver from New York (but was not active in his life). At a young age Farrakhan was introduced to the performing arts and became a gifted violinist, calypso singer, and dancer. At the age of 22, Louis Farrakhan was invited to attend the Nation of Islam’s Saviours’ Day convention and three months later dedicated his life to The Nation. In recent years Minister Farrakhan’s health has been declining due to his battle with prostate cancer and an ulcer but he still remains the National Representative of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and The Nation of Islam.
In Support of the Racist, Louis Farrakhan
2008-03-04 01:02:00
Chicago Sun-Times columnist Mary Mitchell has proven that skin color is deeper than hate in her Sunday column as she scolded Barack Obama for distancing himself from the endorsement of the racist Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakhan. Mitchell scoffed at Barack’s denouncement of Farrakhan as merely a “game” to placate racist white people and tried to pump up the legitimacy of Farrakhan at the same time. Shockingly Mitchell excused every hateful thing ever said by Farrakhan and said that Barack should have “found a way” to accept Farrakhan’s endorsement “without denigrating Farrakhan’s legacy.” Mitchell scolded Barack Obama because he tried to make sure that voters don’t think that he, Barack, supports the sort of racism evinced in the past by Louis Farrakhan. Saying that, “most black people understand the game,” Mitchell seems to feel that the only reason Obama eschewed Farrakhan’s praise is because all tho...

Obama should reject Farrakhan, but...

I am no Louis Farrakhan supporter. Yes, I understand that he and his church have done much for the black community. But he is a hatemonger. He is the man who said:   "White people are potential humans - they haven't evolved yet." Philadelphia Inquirer, March 2000   "It seems like being gay or whatever sin you wish to be a part of is okay ... but I have the duty to lift that gay person up to the standard to ask if they want to live the life that God wants them to or live the lifestyle that they want to live." Boston speech, August 1997   "The Jews have been so bad at politics they lost half their population in the Holocaust. They thought they could trust in Hitler, and they helped him get the Third Reich on the road." Saviours' Day speech, Chicago, February 1998   Abhorrent.   Yet, here's the thing, it is not just Muslim hatemongers who should be loudly denounced by presidential candidates and all of us. Where...

Did Farrakhan Come to Praise Obama or to Bury Him?
2008-02-26 06:51:00
On Sunday last (2/24/08) Barak Obama received a glowing endorsement that is likely to loose him a few votes in November. The endorser was Louis Farrakhan, the acknowledged leader (”Minister”) of The Nation of Islam. Why is an endorsement by Farrakhan a bad thing? Simply because Farrakhan is considered by many to be a ...
A Spry Farrakhan Sings Obama's Praises

In his first major public address since a cancer crisis, Barack Obama" href="http://www.breitbart.com/-article.php?id=D8V13IMO1&sh-ow_article=1">Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan said Sunday that presidential candidate Barack Obama is the "hope of the entire world" that the U.S. will change for the better. The 74-year-old Farrakhan, addressing an estimated crowd of 20,000 people at the annual Saviours' Day celebration, never outrightly endorsed Obama but spent most of the nearly two-hour speech praising the Illinois senator. "This young man is the hope of the entire world that America will change and be made better," he said. "This young man is capturing audiences of black and brown and red and yellow. If you look at Barack Obama's audiences and look at the effect of his words, those people are being transformed." Farrakhan compared Obama to the religion's founder, Fard Muhammad, who also had a white mother and black father. "A black man with a white mother became a ...

First Jesus, Now Muhammad- Who?s Next, Buddha?
2008-02-25 16:35:00
As Democratic followers of Obama tell stories of how they “came to Obama,” and Barack himself insinuates that he is the messiah, Jesus come again, he now has another set of beliefs to draw from: that of the Nation of Islam, promoter of black empowerment and nationalism. Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan has given Obama an “unofficial” ringing endorsement. He goes so far as to compare him to Muhammad: “A black man with a white mother became a savior to us,” he told the crowd of mostly followers. “A black man with a white mother could turn out to be one who can lift America from her fall.” To be fair, Obama’s spokesperson has stated that “Sen. Obama has been clear in his objections to Minister Farrakhan’s past pronouncements and has not solicited the minister’s support.” The past remarks he refers to would include “calling Judaism a “gutter religion” and suggesting crack cocaine m...

Farrakhan and the lack of political influence in Detroit Hip Hop
2007-02-28 23:18:04
This weekend, Louis Farrakhan visited Detroit and held a NOI convention, delivering at Ford Field what could be his farewell address. There’s no question why Detroit was chosen for this historical address. The NOI’s founder laid its roots in Detroit and perhaps its most influential (but former) member Malcolm X also had childhood ties to the area. The area has always been a strong support-base for the NOI and black movements in general. Detroit to this day represents an important political destination because of its demographics. The massive “white flight” spanning a few decades has resulted in Detroit being one of the largest majority-black voting centers in the nation. Its no surprise that Detroit is a must visit for both black and other leaders wanting their social and political views heard. Even Diddy saw Detroit as a vital area for him to spread his “Vote or Die” campaign. So the question is, where is Detroit Hip Hop making its mark in politi...
