From Liberal Fascists?

(h/t - The Corner) Formula One’s governing body is keeping its distance from sexual allegations in a British tabloid newspaper about its president, Max Mosley.  This is a matter between Mr. Mosley and the paper in question,” an International Automobile Federation (FIA) spokesman said.  We understand that Mr. Mosley’s lawyers are now ...
So who are the Fascists?
2008-02-26 16:38:00
Many of my Republican friends criticize McCain as a leftist. I can see the point. But we ought not be too quick to believe that all forms of anti-libertarian ideology are leftist. We need to recognize that there is a form of non-leftist statism of a very distinct kind. It is not socialist in the traditional sense. It believes in a corporate state, combined with protectionism and belligerence in foreign policy. The right-wing predecessors here are Mussolini, Franco, and Hitler, and the name of the ideology is fascism.~Lew Rockwell The first person to compare the Bush Republican Party to Hitler and Mussolini was not a leftists but a Republican - the former assistant Secretary of the Treasury under Ronald Reagan and associate editor of the Wall Street Journal, Paul Craig Roberts. Libertarian Lew Rockwell continues that comparison today in:Triumph of the Red-State Fascists.Rockwell begins with a discussion of the precursor to today's Republican Party, the red-baiters of the 50s. Murray...
Health Fascists

Gordon Brown's Voucher Bribeto the Fatty - This Fatty Is not For Thinning. The Telegraph today reported the following "Smokers, heavy drinkers, the obese and the elderly should be barred from receiving some operations, according to doctors, with most saying the health service cannot afford to provide free care to everyone.£1.7 billion is spent treating diseases caused by smoking, such as lung cancer and emphysemaFertility treatment and "social" abortions are also on the list of procedures that many doctors say should not be funded by the state. The findings of a survey conducted by Doctor magazine sparked a fierce row last night, with the British Medical Association and campaign groups describing the recommendations from family and hospital doctors as "outrageous" and "disgraceful". About one in 10 hospitals already deny some surgery to obese patients and smokers, with restrictions most common in hospitals battling debt"That excludes 90 percent of the population then :) who are...
Spanish King tells Hugo Chavez to shut up- calls democrats fascists
2007-11-10 20:31:00
Wow! This is great. Hugo Chavez must have been reading lefty American blogs because he's taken to calling everybody who disagrees with him a "fascist" (He called opponents of his lifetime president referendum "fascists" in this article). Notice the Cuban response: "a president's legitimacy stems not only from his election by voters ... he must also be legitimate in the exercise of power." Anyways, two Asymmetric points: 1. The current Prime Minister's tepid response is not very encouraging. 2. People like Chavez respect Kings more than they do presidents. It may be a holdover from colonialism or it may be that "Lordship" is what Chavez aspires to. Full story below: => Read more!

Fascists in our midst

But why should it be surprising? It figures that there could come a day when neo-nazis would turn up in Israel: JERUSALEM (AP) - In a case that would seem unthinkable in the Jewish state, police said Sunday they have cracked a cell of young Israeli neo-Nazis accused in a string of attacks on foreign workers, religious Jews, drug addicts and gays. Furgeson’s Favorite Fascists - US Senator Tom Coburn
2007-07-18 08:23:00
Thank you Sen. Coburn for breathing a little sense into the Senate Judiciary Commitee hearing for the border patrol agents that shot a fleeing, unarmed drug trafficker. It was a question that was dying to be asked, “What’s wrong with shooting Mexicans?” The reason I chose him for this week’s Favorite Fascist Award is because Coburn didn’t phrase his rhetorical question as clearly as I did. Instead he asked an equally important question: “What’s wrong with shooting traffickers after they’ve been told to stop?” This is way smarter. If you just go around suggesting it’s OK to shoot people cause they’re not from here you’re going to get into trouble. That’s the trouble with our weak-ass, Nancy-boy populace. Instead he suggested that we make it legal to shoot suspected traffickers in the back as they’re running for their lives. That is so much easier to swallow. Roadblock ahead: Supreme Court Ruling Those...

The Baltimore Orioles Are Acting Like Fascists
2007-04-10 06:04:00
It doesn't seem like too many people in Baltimore care about the Orioles. This is evidenced by a significant lack of fans showing up to the ballpark throughout the 2006 season. In fact, last season the Orioles were 25th in stadium percent capacity filled. One would think that the Orioles' front office would eagerly beg, let alone allow, any interested media member to come to Camden Yards, in hope that their media coverage would bring more fans to the stadium. But apparently logical thinking isn't a part of the plan in Baltimore...This is the case as the Orioles rejected the press credential application of now enraged local sports personality, Nestor Aparicio. A press release by WNST expressed the anger of Aparicio, radio host and also owner of 1570 AM WNST in Baltimore:"It's just amazing that every single year, when you think it can't get any worse, it does," Aparicio said in a blog on his website, www.wnst.net. "Are they honestly trying to say that we're not a legitimate...
Chris Hedges on ?American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War On Amer
2007-02-21 15:12:02
DemocracyNow! I am sorry for the long post, but this was so interesting to me, perhaps it will be to all of you. AMY GOODMAN: We turn now to the religious right and the rise of it in this country. A new book by Chris Hedges is called American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America. It investigates the highly organized and well-funded dominionist movement. The book looks at their agenda, examines the movement?s origins and motivations and uncovers its ideological underpinnings. American Fascists argues that dominionism seeks absolute power in a Christian state. According to Hedges, the movement bears a strong resemblance to the young fascist movements in Italy and Germany in the 1920s and ?30s. Chris Hedges was a foreign correspondent for the New York Times for many years, where he won a Pulitzer Prize. He?s also the author of War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning and Losing Moses on the Freeway. Chris Hedges has a Master’s degree in theology from Harvard Univer...

America's Failed Fascists
2006-12-04 15:19:02
- By Thomas E. BrewtonBig-government attempts to manage the economy, not the stock market crash, caused the Depression of the 1930s.I've touched upon the subject in a number of postings under the head of economics and Constitutional principles. In brief, the money supply was greatly over-expanded in the 1920s by the newly created Federal Reserve System. Partly it was an accommodation to American manufacturers and farmers filling the rebuilding needs of war-torn Europe. The result was similar to our dot.com boom of the 1990s. With the economy awash in excess credit, businessmen mistook those conditions for real consumer prosperity and over-expanded production facilities................Click- HERE To Read OnPublius Forum tagsBrewton
The Islamofascists threaten both Pope Benedict and France
2006-09-17 19:18:00
Two more cases of jihadists threatening free speech and countries have come up this week. First, there is the Islamic world's violent (surprise surprise) reaction to Pope Benedict's very courageous criticism of Islam. There's more about the case here.In the wake of this, the New York Times once again shows off its dhimmitude by saying that the pope owes the Islamofascists a "deep and persuasive apology". Uh-uh, NYT, he owes them no such thing, and was very brave to take them to task. I'm sure he knew quite well what he was getting into here, and it's good to find some good folks with the courage to speak out. It's a shame that more violence erupted, but the thing is, it just proved the pope's point - that Islam is violent. Michelle Malkin backs the pope in full, and points to some obscene photos that the online jihadists have been putting on the black market.Islamofascists have now run amok, vandalizing five churches in Shechem and Gaza (H/T: Hot Air and Michelle), and an Ita...

US Muslims bristle at Bush term ?Islamic fascists?

From Reuters: U.S. Muslim groups criticized President George W. Muslims bristle at Bush term ?Islamic fascists?
2006-08-11 19:09:17
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Muslim groups criticized President Bush on Thursday for calling a foiled plot to blow up airplanes part of a “war with Islamic fascists,” saying the term could inflame anti-Muslim tensions. U.S. officials have said the plot, thwarted by Britain, to blow up several aircraft over the Atlantic bore many of the hallmarks of al Qaeda. “We believe this is an ill-advised term and we believe that it is counterproductive to associate Islam or Muslims with fascism,” said Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations advocacy group. “We ought to take advantage of these incidents to make sure that we do not start a religious war against Islam and Muslims,” he told a news conference in Washington. Full Story Here Islamic fascists… Hell, can ya figure that one out?? Bush didn’t even get his INSULT right, it’s Islamofascists you doofus, if you’re gonna insult the ragheaded sons a b...

Dembski, anonymous emails, and ?Darwinian Fascists?
2006-08-06 19:24:03
This is amusing: Dembski get’s a random, anonymous email, full of unconfirmed accusations, and goes on a rant about oppression of ID by “Darwinian fascists” in the comments section. John at Stranger Fruit elaborated a bit, to which I’d like to add that of course it must be the fault of us “Darwinian fascists” that all of the Discovery Institute’s budget is spent on public relations campaigns, as opposed to funding research; and our fault that there aren’t manuscripts available that have been rejected by the “fascist” peer-review journals for us to read for ourselves. Sure Bill, that’s our fault. Idiot. Normally I’d just ignore such stupidity, and I was going to - I’d seen both UD’s and SF’s posts - but I didn’t look at the address of said email until Ivy Privy pointed me to it: concernedscientist23@yahoo.com.- Yep, that’s right, my former nom de blog, “A Concerned Scientist....
