Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Fasting
2008-05-28 12:29:00
This site.It pretty much goes on and on with the comments, but the guy answers just about every question that you could possibly have about fasting. Personally, I think that water fasting is just dangerous, but this guy disagrees. I haven't the faintest idea if it cleanses you out, but you get an awful lot of bad-smelling farts, sweat and even breath during the fast.Seem to be some excellent mood and anxiety changes. You can exercise on a fast. I have done up to 45-55 minutes on an exercise bike, but I rode pretty darn slow. One problem for exercising is that you will feel very tired, so it's hard to do the exercising, but you can just go slow. Also, recently I rode my bike without the TV on. I just listened to reggae music and it was ok! I've been doing it off and on for a while now and I have lost about 12 pounds, so that is quite nice.

Advice for OCD Sufferers
2008-05-21 11:11:00
I don't really talk about this condition too much, as this is not an "I Have Mental Illness" blog. I just think of myself as a neurotic anyway, so I don't really think I am mentally ill. I hate discussing symptoms, as they seem humiliating to me, especially out here in public for all to see.I will admit to one lately though: Am I really getting better? I will seem to be getting much better symptom-wise and start feeling really great. Then I will start wondering if I am really getting better or if it is all an illusion. Another one I sometimes have, "Can I ever get completely well?"I used to be very much better with this condition to the point where I ran my life extremely well. That is not quite the case nowadays. So the question goes round and round about whether or not I can actually attain that previous state (which I recollect well, as it went on for years, and I can easily more or less sort of plug into it). It feels embarrassing just to write that stuff down. Also sometimes I...
Juice Fasting
2008-05-21 10:49:00
Juice fasting is highly recommended for anyone who wishes to try it.I just live off coffee, juice, wine and water for a few days. After about four days, things start getting kind of weird. You will start to get a lot more energy, but you will feel strange, like you are on LSD. The increased energy is because your body is not wasting energy digesting food all the time. You may also find that aches and pains may also go away during the fast. I also found radical diminishment of anxiety and much clearer thinking. But that seems to go away as you start eating again.Water fasts are dangerous, but are ok for a day or two. Juice fasts work great. Just drink around 32 oz of juice per day for 1-4 days. You can go up to 64 ounces or so. It's completely harmless. Your body odor will start to stink after a well and so will your breath and your farts. This is probably because you are leaking out toxins. You can exercise, but be careful as you may faint. Just go real easy. You may find yourself ...

Fasting

Last night my step son and I talked about fasting. I don’t know how the subject of fasting came up. I think we were talking about the neighbors daughter who I think may have an eating disorder. I mentioned that the students in the Christian high school I attended used to fast for spiritual purposes. ...

Rajinikanth has confirmed his attendence to the fast organised by the Kollywood film industry in protest to the bashing up of Tamil theatres in Bangalore on April 4th. Returning from Hyderabad after canceling his Kuselan shooting to make convenient to all to attend the fasting, the actor contacted the organizers of the agitation and confirmed his presence in the same.Born and brought up in Karnataka and now a Tamil superstar, it will be difficult for Rajni to take sides. Rajni was born in Bangalore to Marathi parents and his first movie was in Kannada, Katha Sangama. In Kollywood he is always portrayed as the custodian of Tamil culture, and anything else would just not go with his screen identity.Kamal Hassan has also confirmed his attendence to the fast after cancelling his crucial overseas commitments in the USA.

Even though the dates for Karnataka Assembly elections have been announced, the state has locked horns with Tamil Nadu over the Hogenakkal water issue. Tamil Nadu saw stray incidents of violence and a black out of Kannada channels on the issue and not just the Central Government, even Tamil cinema’s superstar Rajinikanth is in a tight spot.A Kannadiga owned hotel in the heart of Chennai had to bear the brunt of lawyers who were protesting against Karnataka on the Hogenakkal issue. The hotel was a mute victim perhaps as a small water dispute is being made into a Kannada versus Tamil battle - a battle which will now black out Kannada TV channels in Tamil Nadu. “They are depriving Tamils in Karnataka of Tamil channels and so why should we let them be seen here. This is our way of showing our protest,” Kayal Elavarasan, President, TN Cable TV Owners Association, says.Caught in the cross fire between the two southern states is Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Only By Prayer and Fasting
2008-02-26 20:24:00
So He said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting." Mark 9:29 NKJV This verse is the response of Jesus Christ, when he was asked by His disciples, why they were not able to cast out the demon that posessed the mute boy that also had seizures, as a result of this demon. Nine of Jesus' disciples were left behind, while Jesus, Peter, James and John were on the mountaintop. When the multitude came upon them, while Jesus was away, they were unable to cast out his demon. After He had done so, they were confused about why they were unable to cast it out, as He had given them the power to do so. Here Jesus explains that only through prayer and fasting can "this kind" be cast out. Now, lest you think that "this kind" is referring to the demon, I want to be sure to inform you, that this is not the case. Though, surely, prayer and fasting may be necessary in order to cast out demons, Jesus here is talking about the disciples' lack of faith. The reason that th...
Fasting, Feasting by Anita Desai
2008-02-23 11:44:00
In her novel, Fasting, Feasting, Anita Desai eventually accomplishes what many writers attempt and then fail to achieve. She uses light touch, simple language, uncomplicated structure, but at the same time addresses some very big issues and makes a point.Uma and Arun are children of Mamapapa, the apparently indivisible common identity that parents present. These parents, however, are not at all alike. Mama is protective, perhaps selfish, and not a little indolent. Papa is a parsimonious control freak who locks away the telephone because someone might use it. But they are at least together. Their relationship has survived, despite the long wait for a son, and their disappointment at his disability.Uma and Arun also have a sister, Aruna. She is bright and pretty, but in her own way she is also disabled, because she is a woman. Arun’s disability is visible, but Aruna’s exists because of the her society’s preconceptions about women.Uma is not pretty, nor is she academic. She wears...

Fasting is Healthy
2008-02-13 17:00:00
Last week was holy week for us Christians as we celebrate the death and Resurrection of Christ. Actually not only us but Muslims have their own fasting too during Ramadan. Now the question is " Is Fasting Healthy"? My answer to this is yes. Honestly this year I was not able to fast due to the reason that I live in Muslim community and it slipped from my mind, when I knew it, it was too late. Almost every year I do my share of fasting to celebrate this important season for us. I usually don't eat meat for 40 days and nights starting from ash Wednesday up to Good Friday. Some people will not eat foods and drink water but my version is different, I only eat vegetables and light meals. It actually deprived you from fatty foods and junk foods as most of us are fun of eating. I also stay away from parties and other human activities. Some people are celebrating this season in opposite as you could see a lot of people partying in the beach and dancing in disco house. These are ridiculous ac...

Prayers belong strictly to the worship of God. Fasting is a subordinate aid, which is pleasing to God no farther than as it aids the earnestness and fervency of prayer. John CalvinAn individual Christian may see fit to give up all sorts of things for special reasons -- marriage, or meat, or beer, or cinema; but the moment he starts saying the things are bad in themselves, or looking down his nose at other people who do use them, he has taken the wrong turning. YOUR WILL BE DONE
2008-01-28 11:54:00
Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk withoutmoney and without cost." Isaiah 55:1For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say." Luke 12:12Two verses God gave me last Thursday during my one day fast. I was asking God for three things. He answered two. The other one I'm putting on hold until God speaks to me about it. Aside from the three things I was asking God for, God impressed in my heart about something else. I'm not quite sure how to do this yet. It's about helping young couples whose marriage are hurting. I said, "God, how am I gonna do this? I'm having problems with my own marriage." I told my small group leader about it and she got so excited. She said, "Yes! It shall come to pass!" God said that His words will not go back to Him empty but will accomplish the purpose for which they were sent. Somehow, at the back of my mind, I'm thinking that maybe He's letting me a...

DAY 7 - BREAKTHROUGH FASTING
2008-01-16 08:54:00
Yesterday was our last day of fasting. We went to church to worship the Lord and prayed for our heart's desires. It felt good that we all made it! Singing worship songs was so heartfelt, it almost felt like I was singing in front of the gate of heaven. I was extremely moved during our breakthrough prayer. I guess everyone in the room were. It was so powerful.During my fast I was lead to so many promises of God, but I'll share two verses which I hope will encourage you too as much as it did me.Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men." Joshua 6:2...For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land." Joshua 8:1God has said to Joshua the words "I have delivered." Past tense. Done. Even before the actual handing over of Jericho and Ai happened. When Joshua obeyed, he received what the Lord had promised him.We have to obey what the Lord's telling us to do.An...
Gwyneth Paltrow admitted to hospital (upadate: she was fasting)
2008-01-15 18:25:00
It seems like all the cool celebrities are going to the hospital these days. In fact I’m going to predict that hospitalizations are the new DUIs. Sad. First it was Britney, then a week later half a dozen celebs gave birth within about three days… though admittedly that’s a much happier hospitalization; at least once it’s over with. Now we find out that Gwyneth Paltrow was admitted to New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital late last night with what media outlets are calling a “mystery illness.” The only mystery is that she won’t share with us what it is. I’m guessing it’s no medical mystery though. Hollywood superstar Gwyneth Paltrow was at the centre of a health scare mystery yesterday after reportedly being rushed into a hospital in a wheelchair. The actress was admitted into New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital late Monday - just hours after being seen out-and-about near her Manhattan home. But today, it is unclear what was behind the mum-of-two’s scare. “S...

Day 2
2008-01-11 09:37:00
I got all sorts of mocking from the pit of hell. Rude comments were thrown at me. "Are you crazy? Why do you have to fast?""What have you done that you have to fast?" "Is that a religion thing? Crazy! I'll never join your religion if that's the case" "Is that about religion? Forget it! Grab a plate and eat!" "LET'S GO EAT!!!" (All eyes were on me while they chant those words)I just smiled at them and didn't say a word. I figured that it's useless to argue with these people anyway. My heart was breaking. I just said, "Lord, help me. I don't like to take offense. They don't know what they're doing."I knew something like this was going to happen. But God kept me strong. We're back in Manila. I survived Day 2... only because of God's grace.
DAY 1
2008-01-09 08:38:00
We're on our way to meet up a client in Baguio so we're going out of town in a few hours. It's Day 1 of our fasting and I'm pretty much aware how the enemy tries to ruin things for me since last night. Anyway, we still have an hour or so before we leave and I want to spend it with the Lord. I guess it's bye-bye for today. God bless!
PRAYER AND FASTING
2008-01-08 10:52:00
I finished the book This Present Darkness by Peretti last night. Hit the sack at around 4 a.m. I know this sounds crazy but I just couldn't stop reading until I finished the remaining pages. Anyway, I enjoyed the book a lot.Tomorrow is the start of our annual seven-day prayer and fasting. This is my first time to participate in this annual event in our church. I'm excited to what God is going to reveal to me. I'm also believing God for my breakthroughs. So last night, my friend and I made a list of our faith goals for 2008. Then we put it in a small box and tied it with a green ribbon. We prayed over it then I put it on top of my cabinet. It'll be opened on January 7, 2009 to see how many of our faith goals God answered. Sort of like a time capsule. As a spiritual family, we begin each new year with seven days of prayer and fasting. It is our way of humbling ourselves before God and consecrating to Him the upcoming year. It is also the time when we corporately come int...

Fasting: Is it really helpfull for loosing weight?
2007-12-31 08:09:00
If your pants mysteriously shrink during the holiday season, you may want to consider a weight-loss method with a bad reputation: skipping meals. Though conventional wisdom has held that if you fast or omit meals you will only make up for it by eating more later on, some experts advocate just those methods?not only to control your weight, but also to gain other health benefits.First, let's look at the weight factor. The data have been consistent, says David Levitsky, a professor of nutrition and psychology at Cornell University. If you skip a meal or downsize it, you do feel hungrier at the next one?but you don't make up for all of the calories you avoided, he says. In one unpublished study, his research team gave one group of people a commercially available small lunch (yogurt, soup, or some other small snack) adding up to about 200 calories, while a second group had regular buffet lunches of about 600 calories. Both groups were told to eat as they wished during the rest of the d...

Forced fastingFiled under: Analysis / Opinion, WoW Social Conventions, Virtual selves, Odds and ends, Burning Crusade, AltsOne of the things that can really mess with your WoW gameplay is being forced to take a week or two off for various reasons. I doubt I'm alone in having less time to play in December, what with various holidays and family events near the end of the month, and it didn't help that recently our cable went out for several days, meaning I had a large chunk of time when I couldn't play at all. One of the things I noticed when I finally got back to playing was that taking several days off with no play at all means that I forgot what each of my characters was doing. This might in fact be exacerbated by my plethora of alts, but it still meant that I had to spend a day or two just figuring out what I had been doing before the cable went down. I'd actually gotten several characters new pieces of gear I hadn't equipped yet, and forgot it until I checked their bags.Oddl...
Fasting & Feasting: Sabudana Khichiri
2007-12-03 20:55:00
In India, feasting very often follows fasting. It is customary to observe fasts on numerous days throughout the year. Indeed, people fast on particular days of a week, month, and year to please and honour particular Gods and Goddesses, to give thanks for blessings received, or to pray for that their wishes be granted.A fast usually begins at dawn and broken at dusk. During this time those undertaking the fast tend to partake of only water, fruits, nuts and milk. Yet, the entire day is often filled with the joy and camaraderie that accompanies a shared kitchen. Family members regardless of age come together to prepare for the feast that inevitably accompanies the successful completion of a fast. Some feasts are humble and traditional meals where only certain categories of foods permitted on fasts are prepared. And others are grand meals where the host's largess is shared with friends and neighbours.Sabudana Khichiri or Sago Kedgeree is a traditional dish that is most commonly prepar...

Ripe fruits without roughage and fibers should be taken in between intervals. On the second day fruits and boiled vegetables should be taken. On the third day some milk and nuts should be taken in addition to fruits and vegetables. Begin taking sprouted pulses and food-grains on the fourth day. Then gradually start taking the usual diet. Directions of juice fasting (part 1)
2007-12-03 10:15:00
Before juice fasting is commenced, a two or three day ‘water-fast’ is beneficial. Water fasting increases the effectiveness of juice fasting. An expert’s guidance is necessary for the selection of fruits and vegetables for the cure of a particular disease. As always Juice Diet for Perfect Health will provide you with all the necessary information to get you started. Begin fasting with a small quantity of juices. Gradually increase the quantity. On the first day take 250ml of juices five times at the intervals of 3 hours. Thus the total quantity of juices to be taken on the first day will be 1250ml. On the second day take 300 ml of juices each time. Begin taking juices at seven in the morning. The last intake should be at seven in the evening. Gradually increase the quantity everyday. Benefits of juice fasting
2007-11-29 11:21:00
During juice fasting, toxic substances in the body begin to burn and this burning supplies heat to the body. Though the body has an accumulation of fats and carbohydrates, the body has a nature to burn first the toxic substances. The reason for this process is that though the juices contain vitamins, minerals and enzymes in abundance, the heat-giving substances are in meager proportion. During fasting the combustion of toxic substances automatically supplies the required heat to the body. The excretory process of the body is stimulated during juice fasting. Undesirable elements in the body are eliminated through kidneys, the skin and the lungs. During the preliminary stages of juice fating, there is foul-breathing, urine is dark and the body perspires profusely. But soon a stage is reached when the body becomes purified. Thereafter breathing, urine and perspiration attain their original condition.
What is Juice Fasting?
2007-11-29 11:17:00
Juice fasting is an effective and scientific method for giving real benefits to the body and the health. In this kind of fasting nothing except fruit and vegetable juices is taken. Many expert dieticians give great importance to this kind of fasting. The obvious purpose of juice fasting is to regain health by giving rest to the digestive system. Juice fasting eliminates the toxic and inorganic substances and bacteria from the body. As juice without roughage and fibers is easily digestible, the body has not to work hard for its absorption and assimilation. Juice begins to get absorbed in the body within 20-25 minutes after it is taken. Consequently, the body begins to acquire immediately the vitamins which increase the resistance power of the body against diseases. Besides, the mineral salts contained in juice neutralize the acidic elements in the blood. Then why should we not take the benefit of juices which supply the body without labor the elements necessary for the cure of disease?
