Are You Caught Up In A Cycle Of Fatness & Fitness Confusion?
2008-03-18 12:24:00 By Rob PoulosAs a member of a popular fitness center for a few years, I noticed countless others frustrated with their fat burning exercise routines and eating practices, working so hard and long but with virtually no improvement to show for it. Several of my own friends and relatives would mention this new program or product they had just shelled out cash for that was the answer to their fat loss or fitness goals. They were so excited about it and couldn?t wait to get started. Then, a few weeks later, the same happy-go-lucky people that were once jumping with joy about their new plan to burn fat and get a new body became downright discouraged. It was hard to watch. I?d ask them how their fat burning plan was working and they?d tell me that it seemed pretty good at first, but they didn?t get the results they were expecting or they felt were promised. They quickly became tired of following the daily workouts and found following the strict eating guidelines almost maddening at ti...

Speaking Of Fatness? How About Squashing?.. Here?s Video Of A Guy That Gets
2008-02-09 08:01:00 Here’s Eddie and Gem. Eddie, is an average-sized dude who has always been into plus-sized — or rather, morbidly obese — women, found his soul mate in Gem, who indulges his fantasy of watching her eat (carbs, in particular), and also engages in “squashing,” which is when she plops down on his body repeatedly, or ...

The study appears this month in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Researchers there followed 5,092 pairs of twins aged eight to 11 years, born between 1994 ...

Fitness, Not Fatness, Predicts a Longer Life
2007-12-06 21:57:00 In the quest for a longer life, a new study suggests fit is where it’s at — even if you’re fat. Overweight and obese seniors who were physically fit outlived their contemporaries — even thin ones who weren’t physically fit, the researchers said. “Cardio-respiratory fitness is a strong determinate of mortality in older men and women,” ...
Newsflash: It?s fitness, not fatness
2007-12-05 17:19:00 A study published this month in the Journal of the American Medical Association reinforces what I, and other followers of the Health at Every Size movement, have been saying all along: It’s fitness, not fatness, that’s key to good health. Researchers, led by Dr. Xumei Sui of the University of South Carolina and Columbia, studied ...
I am Toffee Apple.
2007-11-02 15:35:00 My bandwidth completely died on the 29th, and being the impatient girl I am I couldn't stand to sit there in front of my computer waiting for things to load at modem (circa 1997) speeds, so I just didn't go on at all. This in turn made me miss a few events planned on my Facebook as well as a few important emails from Uni and work. Life seems to fall in chaos without the internet doesn't it? Thank the technology God for mobile phones, at least I was still contactable, so I didn't miss out on anything too important (like the JT concert! *dies*) and my phone rang, so I turned it off an apologized to my lovely doctor. He grinned at me then said, "diabolical creations they are.""I actually find them quite useful," I replied. And with that he stabbed my arm with the needle. Now what is a diabolical creation is fast food. I would love to lecture you about the delinquencies of fast food (yes, I'm personifying fast food because it's alive and it grows into love handles), but I'm the on...

The ?why? of fatness - does it matter?
2007-09-30 07:00:00 It has been suggested elsewhere ? emphatically decreed, actually ? that it is virtually impossible for a person who is genetically predisposed to obesity, to gain weight by overeating (beyond 20 pounds, or so) unless there also exists periods of food restriction. If this is true, then I must be a freak of nature. I?ve ...
Fatness, Fitness and Insulin Sensitivity
2007-09-17 19:54:00 It is well established that exercise improves insulin sensitivity through both glycogen depletion and activation of non-insulin mediated glucose transport. Obesity is associated with insulin resistance. Aerobic exercise is at...
The true meaning of Detox
2007-08-10 15:38:00 WednesdayWeather: Sunny (20 degrees).Top: White tank top under a white ruffle shirt both bought in Japan and a blue cardigan bought in Sydney.Bottom: Black tights bought in Sydney.Shoes: Black heels which were a gift from friends.I was feeling really good in this outfit as I was wearing it last Wednesday. The reason behind this was not only the extra boost of goodness I felt inside since I had just finished my detox but it was also the fact that I had lost 1.5kgs as well. Little did I know things of grease and sugar would come back to haunt me as soon as I got sick. But first let me ask you all a question. What type of person eats more than they normally do while they are bedridden with the flu?"That is absurd! Surely no type of mammal would!" You would probably think.Oh but let me tell you, while I was in bed with my throat inflamed, my head thumping and cold shivers running down my body, I could not put down the icecream or the pasta even if it meant taking away my pseudoephedrine...

Mmm... Pizza.
2007-07-09 16:26:00 I think I took these photos before going out last Saturday night. My daughter Joycie and my son-in-law Dickson bought me this tartan nightgown from Peter Alexander for my birthday. They thought it would complement the Nana phrase I'm going through. They were right. How I love tartan with lace. However, I decided to wear this nightie out clubbing instead of to bed (I have no one to show it off to in bed *cries*) I seem to like wearing nightgowns out don't I?It was a scene from a movie, when someone from up above dropped down a note (no not the Death Note -_-;;) for me while I was feeling lethargic and uninspired. For the past couple of days I've been just floating about, sleeping really late and waking up even later. Every day just seemed to fly by. However, just as I was thinking that, a magazine fell right into my hands (well actually I picked it up, but "falling" has more Godly effect) and I read, "When every day seems the same, it is because we have stopped noticing the good t...

17 Years and 36 Months old - Part 2
2007-07-04 14:40:00 Yesterday was the actual date of my birthday and I had a fantastic time. It were the simple things that made it so special. In the afternoon I went to have a chat and coffee with Winnie in the City, then I went to see Transformers with a few other friends (Transformers was AWESOME! I just knew it would be! I'll talk more about it later...), then I had cake with my family and ended the day watching the special features disc on the Harry Potter Goblet of Fire DVD with my sister.I guess such a relaxing laid back day made up for the stress I suffered from my party. I nearly tore my hair out at dinner because people just didn't come on time. Grrrr... Since it was a banquet it was essential for the waiters to know how many people RSVPed, how many people have already arrived and how many people were due to arrive. One or two people didn't show up at all without contacting me, five people were 1 hour late and an one extra person not on my list came, which made my nicely organized list tu...

Die Fatness! Die!
2007-06-27 13:26:00 Okay it is time to take charge, it is time to display some self-discipline and it is time to capture and annihilate that oozing sloth that's freely circulating around my body. You may have noticed that recently, ever since the coldness had hit Sydney, the only sort of pants I've been wearing are tights. No trousers, no jeans and certainly no skinny legs. The reason behind the consistent wear of tights is because they are stretchy. Do you really think I can still fit into all those skinny legs jeans I've bought in early 2006?!I gained 8 kilograms in Japan. EIGHT KILOGRAMS! It still amazes me when I pick up four bottles of 2 litre water (however rare that may be) that that's the amount of weight I've burdened upon my poor body. Sure, once I got back to Sydney I went on detox and I stopped eating all that fried food my host family ate (Japanese genes are extraordinary) and I did lose a bit of weight. However, after 6 months of returning to the land of meat pies, after much comfort ...

24 Hour Fatness
2007-01-23 12:46:00 As some of may know, I frequently go to 24 Hour Fitness (not to workout – I just like watching 5 TVs at the same time). What you may not know is that they have many obese employees. I kid you not. I’m not just loosely throwing the term “obese” around either. I’m not being insensitive. I’m being very serious here.Obese 24 Hour Fitness employees . . . you got to love the irony. It’s like a vegetarian working at a slaughter house, or Shaquille O’neal teaching free throw lessons, or Jessica Simpson acting in a movie.***update***I was just informed that Jessica has actually been in a couple movies. My mistake. I didn’t even know she could read. |
