I'm not going to write one of those sappy love letters to Brett Favre that I keep seeing all over the Internet. The fact is, I've never really been a Brett Favre fan. I've always considered him one of the most overrated quarterbacks in the NFL. In fact, I'm convinced that the Packers are better off without him. And trust me, there is a contingent in that organization that agrees; you don't accidentally post his retirement news on your website, then quickly accept his retirement without any effort to talk him out of it if you want him back. I know you haven't had enough of Brett, so I give you this.  The press conference that Favre didn't want to have just two days ago is happening today.  Silly Brett. Anyway, if you should want to watch #4 tell the world he's tired, you can do so over at NFL.com.  They will be Live Streaming the event starting at 12est/10mst, which for Styg is 8AM in Alaska. I will be watching, if for no other reason that to see how Favre's presser compares to Elway's good-bye.  Something tells me that Favre saying Super Bowl expectations are, mentally, too hard to handle is going to be a bit different than Elway saying the hardest words any athlete can say, "I physically can't do it any more".  Only time will tell... A legend has left us, and the world of football will never be the same. Brett Favre's career and his legacy have been discussed in depth so much everywhere by now, I won't go into great detail. Favre leaves the NFL holding virtually every major statistical mark a quarterback can achieve in all-time career categories, including wins, touchdown passes, and passing yards. While it is possible his numbers will one day be bested, we will not likely see that day come any season soon.Favre was a player like no other and I always hoped that the television scheduling gods would look upon me and grace me with a Packers game. Favre will be sorely missed by the entire state of Wisconsin and his fans the world over, myself included. However, from Favre's position, this was likely going to be his best chance to go out as close to the top as he would be able to. Last year was one of his best and finished off an unparralled career.
