Florida Turns its Back?on Florida
2008-03-18 07:35:00 Michigan Democrats moved closer to a new primary on Monday by introducing legislation that would create the June 3rd election. Democratic leaders in the state of Florida also had their own announcement on Monday; they were not going to hold a new election. Michigan and Florida were stripped of their delegates by the Democratic National Committee for holding their primaries before February 5th. DNC rules stated that any state that moved their primary before February 5th would not have their delegates seated at the convention. Michigan and Florida thought the DNC was joking. Howard Dean and the rest of the DNC were totally serious about the rules. Michigan and Florida knew the rules of the DNC going into this election and set their primary dates in January regardless of the consequences.
