My remaining credit card balance was paid in full in the second half of the month. Then with my tax return I was able to pay off the balance on my car loan. What a weight lifted off these shoulders.This is an example of that snowball effect really starting to take off. First the credit card and car loan, next will be the hospital bill in about three months. Soon I'll finally start making progress in my emergency savings and student loans. I've already increased my monthly student loan payment by $50 and I'll increase it by $50 again once I have three months living expenses saved, and then again at six and nine months. At that point I believe that I could easily live with two hundred less per month. My own cat was a stray and I appreciate those that make an effort to take care of animals in need. I also donated directly to a specific cat that was attacked by a dog while placed in a foster home. It’s reality TV at its best! LOST (9PM ABC, “A” in Canada) The Oceanic 6 discover how they’ll be able to return to the island. Fingers crossed that it’s easier to follow than Anders’ explanation to the final five Cylons on last week’s BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Because we’ve watched the episode twice already and still have yet to wrap our head around what happened! LIE TO ME (9PM FOX, GlobalTV in Canada) A groom is shot at his wedding. Which hopefully will teach people to stop asking if anyone objects… we’re just sayin’ you’re pretty much asking for trouble. (more…)

Weekly Awards For The Comic Books From February 11, 2009
2009-02-18 17:45:00 All right, it is time to dish out The Revolution's weekly awards. As always, the followers of The Revolution chimed in with plenty of great comments. I went ahead and gave the award for the comment of the week to Mike McNulty, a.k.a stillanerd in response to the Batman #686 review: "As you observed, Neil Gaiman is, in fact, an author of several novels, and not just a writer of comic books (although certainly is Sandman comic book series is considered one of his signature works). He also has written some Batman stories before as well; in fact, this issue reminded me of one he did for Batman Black and White #2 called "A Black and White World" in which Batman and the Joker take a "lunch break" from the comic book and go "backstage" to talk about their roles in the comic. One of the things I got out of this issue is that, by using the "funeral" of Batman, Gaiman is reflecting on the power of stories, which is a common theme in his work.
