Access to Feminism
2008-11-04 11:06:00
Among the many words which I may use to define myself, two key ones are feminist and disabled. You wouldn't think these two identities are mutually exclusive, they certainly shouldn't be. Feminists, fighting for equality and justice for women, include black women, lesbians, refugee women, disabled women, don't they? Some references:Feminism, Gender & Disability:. Non-disabled feminists continue to treat disability as aside issue, an optional extra and in no way part of the so-called mainstreamacademic or political debates. The disabled people's movement - whilemany and sometimes the majority of its activists are women - is stillinformed by political and theoretical debates which strangely sidelinewomen's experiences and issues. ...A failure to understand the social model of disability lies at the heart of thedominant reaction to the situation where children are having to providesupport to their disabled parent. Challenging the medical model ofdisability and the dominant concept...
INK_BLAST | SARAH PALIN PROVES FEMINISM WORKED
2008-10-15 17:19:00
Many women are mad that Sarah Palin was chosen as the Republican VP nominee. They are infuriated that, when the country produced a contenter like Hillary Clinton, all the McCain campaign could come up with was Sarah Palin. Even the National Organization of Women, that bastion of all things liberating, broke its own rules and publictly endorsed Barack Obama, just to make sure women voters knew which presidential candidate stood to advance women's rights. The irony in all this is that Palin is actually proof that American feminism worked.

In the wake of recent events, also known as the introduction to pit bulls wearing lipstick, it has become quite clear that there is a hidden form of feminism living in this very country. A Call to All Women - Please Vote
2008-08-26 16:03:00
I am having such a hard time deciding who to vote for in the upcoming presidential election. Is anyone else having trouble deciding? Seems like most other people have made up their minds. Must be nice. Trying to keep up with it all is giving me a headache. We are having a local vote here next month. I am voting to increase my property tax by about $20 per month. It is for the schools. I believe it is important to put money in schools and I am being given the opportunity to do so. I am grateful to live in a community where others feel the same way. I hope it passes.I like that the local politics is something I can understand. I know exactly what I am voting for. A simple question: am I willing to pay out $20 per month more than I currently pay in order to build a new high school and revamp the other schools in our district. In national politics I have no idea how voting for McCain or Obama is going to impact me, my city, my state, or my country. I am spending as much time ...
Anal is the New Oral?
2008-08-09 06:06:00
The anal sex fad, fed largely by pornography, continues. This is an interesting article on the fad as it plays out amongst upper middle class and upper class White yuppies, the only people most magazine journalists ever interview for any story, because these are the only people they ever know.Ever noticed how every Time or Newsweek Magazine article interviewing "ordinary Americans" always interviews doctors and lawyers? Same with most other magazines. Same with way too many movies. Highly-paid journalists don't know any working class people, so the vast majority of our media tells the tales of the upper middle class and upper class.Anyway, back to the article. The comments at the end are great, especially those of the women. I was actually cheering these women on when they were laying it into these guys. I don't like feminazis, but I like a woman who stands up for herself and her gender. It's complicated. They described the men in this article with the following words:Boys; horri...
Western Women's Culture of Meanness
2008-08-08 22:00:00
Updated August 10:In the comments section, Lafayette Sennacherib says, possibly jokingly: I'll go along with feminism this far: it's ok for women to bring in a wage, as long as they still rear the kids, clean the place, cook, sew, provide regular sex, are totally faithful unless it's with another woman and we can watch/share, and don't mind their men having a bit on the side. Fair's fair! We owe them that much!I don't know if he's joking or not, but I won't even go that far. I decided to ask Sexmaniacman his opinion of LS' post, and here is what he said: Bob, first of all, thanks so much for inviting me over so I can write about this. My complaint, Bob, is that feminism has cultivated a culture of meanness, at least here in the US. I would say that American women have cultivated a culture of meanness, but I think they reason they have is feminism. Feminism makes women pissed off at us men. Period. Full stop.As a het guy who chooses to deal with women as more than platonic...
Do We Live In a Patriarchy?
2008-08-08 08:13:00
In the comments section, two of my favorite bloggers, k&y of to the ambient void suggest that we live in a patriarchy today. I think that these two guys are both gay, but that's fine with me, in fact, I think it's great! I decided to call Sexmaniacman over to ask him what he thought of the notion that we live in a patriarchy today. Here's what he wrote: It's easy for gay men to side with women in the War Between the Sexes because they're not trying to fuck women, so they don't have to put up with women's bullshit that is inevitable in those of us who do.They're trying to fuck guys in a gay culture that seems a Hell of a lot more sex-friendly and sex-positive than this chilly het culture with these censorious female and mostly feminist Comstocks wanting to beat us with rods every time we get a hardon.Like to look at porn? You're a woman-hater. Can't get laid, poor guy? Haha, say the feminists, you loser. Now, me, a masculinist, I side with the guy. The guy's not gettin...
We Love Yale Sluts
2008-08-04 09:44:00
A most interesting event occurred around January 21, 2008, in front of the Yale Women's Center at 1 AM. A group of men pledging the Zeta Psi fraternity (a mostly athlete frat) posed in front of the women's center with a sign saying, "We Love Yale Sluts". They then uploaded the picture to Facebook. It turned into a great big brouhaha. The Women's Center promptly threatened to sue for sexual harassment and mischaracterized the initiation rite. They said that the group stood in front of the Women's Center and chanted "Dick, dick, dick, dick!" and blocked the door as woman after woman, mostly rape victims apparently, tried to come in for counseling. The facts: The incident occurred at 1 AM and the center was closed. There were no women coming to the center that got their way blocked, and there were certainly no rape victims. Rape victims hardly ever go there anyway, and there are few of them on campus anyway. They weren't chanting, ""Dick, dick, dick, dick!"; instead they were ch...
No Wonder White Men Are Pissed
2008-08-01 10:26:00
Cool post from the comments from an American mulatto woman, telling it straight up like it really is about masculinity, femininity and race: I enjoyed reading your post. I am mixed-race, Black and white. I have been with both types of men. I feel that White males used to be much more masculine and the media portrayed them as masculine on TV, but now Black men are portrayed on TV as the heroes. On the other hand Asian men are under represented by the media.Black men are too masculine for me, and I am really not attracted to them.I wish White guys were the way they use to be - in charge and take control. As a female I feel that a lot of this has to do with the feminist movement. No other men in the world give their women as much freedom as the White male, and in the end they tend to lose their woman to other men because they have let go and have given her too much power. In turn, the White female now has the power and is in charge in most White relationships. As a female I have observed...

What Is Feminism
2008-05-04 17:09:00
Feminism is defined as the advocacy of social equality for men and women, in opposition to patriarchy and sexism.   The first wave of the feminist movement in the United States began in the 1840’s as women opposed to slavery, including Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, drew parallels between the oppression of African Americans and ...

New Sex Poll
2008-04-20 05:31:00
The latest death toll figures from Hurricane Katrina can be seen on this website here. The famous Russian neo-Nazi video is on this blog here. Updated April 23:A sex poll came out 2 1/2 years ago, but I am only just now hearing about it. Oh, well, it seems like sex is always leaving me standing at the station these days. The articles on the poll deal with teenagers having lots of oral sex, apparently instead of intercourse. The article all act like this is horrible, but I actually think it is good. Despite my feast or famine bachelor life, I actually do love sex, and I am a sexual liberationist. The articles mostly fuss on and on about all of the diseases one can acquire from oral sex.First of all, this is part of an insane national neurosis we have long had in this nation about sex. Europeans have long commented on it. We are Puritans yet we demand that Americans be having sex continuously. Even if they are not married. Even if they are not 18.Yes, it is true. There's a $6 billion ...

Western Civilization: A Value Worth Saving
2008-04-13 09:08:00
Although I find it preposterous that White people themselves need to be saved from extinction, and cannot figure out any lawful way to so anyway, I think that White Nationalists (WN's) like Jared Taylor do make some interesting points. Taylor, like most WN's is a hardcore conservative, but when he talks about saving White civilization, the values he credits White civilization with are positively liberal. To be sure, I do disagree with the WN contention that Euro Whites created these liberal, free and humanitarian structures due to some unique endowment of their genes, though is it is an interesting argument. At the end of the day, it is not really falsifiable. With US Whites at 64% and dropping, a White majority in the US is probably a defeated dream. But a non-White majority in the US need not be the disaster that WN see it as. Even at 64% White, we still have one of the largest economies on Earth. Further, I feel that US non-Whites for the most part assimilate to the basically W...

My Inner Feminist
2008-04-02 02:19:00
My husband is driving home as we speak. I can remember as a child how upset I always was that I was continuously being fed the message that women are inferior to men. Women's brains don't work as well because we are ruled by emotion and not reason. Our opinions are not valid because we just don't understand the way the world works. We are to be tolerated. We get all riled up over silly little things and therefore our being upset is not worthy of acknowledgment. I guess this is why I was upset that Lily said that boys mow the lawn and not girls. In the ninth grade we were given a comprehensive test which had to be passed before we could graduate from high school. One component of the test was we had to write a proper paragraph. I of course failed because my topic sentence was about one thing and my paragraph was about another, see above paragraph. It makes sense to me. Hopefully it will make sense to you too. I am sure they would fail me on my paragraph writing skills aga...

My Little Feminist /sarcasm
2008-03-29 15:38:00
After driving Mandy to work this morning, and getting Lily settled down with some cartoons, I decided I should mow the lawn. I have a very brown thumb but I still am determined to have a nice yard. I told Lily I was going out to the back yard to mow and she told me, "girls don't mow, only boys mow"Lily out-climbs, out-runs, out-jumps, every boy on the playground. She may like to wear pink but she is a rough little girl. Where have I gone wrong, how have I failed? Where is my little feminist? I was so upset. I spent 45 minutes trying to get the mower to start, now I am blogging. Where are all the boys?Jeff is off at the Bataan Memorial Death March this weekend. Have fun baby, don't worry I will find a way to mow even if I have to go and buy an electric lawn mower. Why don't they just have a key starter like the car?I follow comments. Leave a comment and I will come visit your blog.

2008-03-29 09:57:00

Charlotte Allen, pictured at left, a contributing writer to such well-read publications as the Washington Post, the Dallas News, The Atlantic, The Los Angeles Times, finds herself in the middle of a conflagration caused by her own writing. The topic? Her analysis of female Obamaniacs and how the seeming mental dimness of groupie behavior leads her to conclude women, ?. . . could shriek and swoon and gossip and read chick lit to our hearts' content and not mind the fact that way down deep, we are . . . kind of dim.? (From the Washington Post article published Sunday, Mar. 3, entitled, ?We Scream, We Swoon. How Dumb Can We Get??)Allen has published articles defending the sexist comments of the previous Harvard University President, Lawrence Summers, when he referred to what he presumed to be mathematical deficiencies in the minds of the female sex by way of explaining why so few women choose academia in the sciences.
