WEC Results for Faber vs Pulver Fights on Versus
2008-06-03 07:07:00
In a fight that no one thought would go five rounds, Urijah Faber and Jens Pulver waged a war that lived up to the hype last night at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, Calif. The first round saw Faber surprise Pulver with his power as “The California Kid” connected with clean overhand rights to start the championship bout. Pulver tried to find his range with dirty boxing, but Faber would have none of it as he was changing levels and landing with that right hand. Faber’s speed clearly frustrated Pulver the entire first round as Faber bobbed and weaved away from Pulver while landing the more effective strikes. In the second frame, Faber caught Pulver with a huge overhand right that led to a flurry that rocked Pulver. Showing the heart of a true warrior, Pulver rebounded later in the round and tagged Faber with crisp clean counter strikes. A back-and-forth round ensued with Faber taking Pulver down, but both men continued to get right back up.The third and fourth rounds saw Faber pushi...
Exciting Times in Indy: Paulista Attacks and AG Fights?
2008-06-02 20:09:00
Will there be a Ron Paul revolt in Indianapolis today?  Who will win the battle to be the GOP’s nominee for attorney general this fall?  Hoosier bloggers are about what’s happening at the GOP convention this afternoon. Hoosier Access’ Mike Jezierski is keeping an eye on things at the state GOP convention in Indianapolis.  And, local Northwest Indiana bloggers Steve Dalton from Porter County Politics and Dan O’Day from Prayeramedic are also on the convention floor keeping an eye on the action. Hoosier Access has had a lot of pro Greg Zoeller posts and Steve Dalton’s Porter County Politics has been in favor of Jon Costas — the blogosphere is providing balance in the marketplace for ideas.  Read both sides, get all the information you need, and make your decisions.  Isn’t it great that the blogosphere works without a requirement for a “fairness doctrine” or other limits on free speech. While things have just gotten to a start i...
6/15 DREAM 4 - Fights Added
2008-06-02 14:51:00
DREAM have added 2 more fights to their event June 15. Added to the card is Dutch fighter Alistair Overeem, it will be good to see him back in Japan. Also added it the very exciting Alavutdin Gaddzhiyev, who as been outstanding in his Pancrase fights, he has 7 wins in a row and most finished within the first minute of the fight. He is facing BTT's Alexandre Cacareco who is on a 5 fight winning streak. This will be a Lightheavyweight fight and I think Cacareco is slightly heavier than Alavutdin.Added:Alistair Overeem 26-11-0 vs. 1-1-0 Tae Hyun LeeAlavutdin Gadzhiyev 7-1-0 vs. 16-5-0 Alexandre "Cacareco" FerreiraPreviously Announced:Grappling Fight: Mirko "CroCop" Filipovic vs. Ralek GracieHideo Tokoro 19-13-1 vs. 4-1-0 Darren UyenoyamaMiddleweight Tournament:Kazushi Sakuraba 24-10-1 vs. 21-4-1 Melvin ManhoefGegard Mousasi 21-2-1 vs. 4-4-0 Dong Sik YoonRonaldo "Jacare" Souza 8-1-0 vs. 21-5-0 Jason "Mayhem" MillerZelg "Benkei" Galesic 8-3-0 vs. 3-2-0 Taiei Kin

Mom fights church ban on her autistic son
2008-06-01 20:52:00
BERTHA, Minn. ? Carol Race thinks it's important for her 13-year-old son to be in church on Sundays for Catholic Mass.Leaders of the Church of St. Joseph once felt the same way, but not anymore. They say Race's autistic son Adam is disruptive and his erratic behavior threatens the safety of other parishioners. The northern Minnesota church has obtained a restraining order to keep Adam away, an action that has been deeply hurtful to the Race family and has brought them support from parents of other autistic children."My son is not dangerous," Carol Race said. The church's action is "about a certain community's fears of him. Fears of danger versus actual danger," she said.In court papers, church leaders say the danger is real. The Rev. Daniel Walz wrote in his petition for the restraining order that Adam ? who already is more than 6 feet tall and weighs more than 225 pounds ? has hit a child, has nearly knocked over elderly parishioners while bolting from his pew, has spit at peopl...

Fisker fights back in Tesla lawsuit
2008-05-15 18:35:00
Fisker fights back in Tesla lawsuit Fisker Coachbuild is fighting back a lawsuit brought against it by Tesla as the Henrik Fisker-run company has asked a California court for arbitration. The request was filed on Tuesday, May 13, with a hearing scheduled for June 11. Tesla filed its lawsuit against Fisker on April 14. In the suit, Tesla claims that Fisker stole trade secrets and designed an inferior product. Tesla hired Fisker to design its WhiteStar sedan, but says Fisker left them with a sub-par design — especially when compared to the Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid sedan. Fisker denies the allegations, even calling it "a ridiculous suit," according to Automotive News. In other Fisker news, the automaker says that its Karma sedan is on schedule for production — as evidenced by the latest spy shots. Fisker has taken 500 pre-orders for the plug-in hybrid and is preparing to unveil the car's production interior at November's Los Angeles Auto Show.

The rose wine fights back
2008-05-09 09:31:00
[img]http://www.mendozaesvino.c-om.ar/blog/files/821653ss.jpg[/-img] The ros wines can be developed with different methods. The simplest but almost obsolete, is to cut a white wine with a little red wine. However, the technique is the most widely used short maceration. For this technique used grapes inks that after being crushed, the marc remains a short time with the juice, allowing that contact convey colouring matter and organoleptic. The next step is pressing, then fermentation comes just as with a white wine. The maceration lasts from eight to twelve hours. There are different strains of pink wines. In Argentina there are pink Malbec, Bonarda, Syrah, and so on. Elsewhere in the world, or Tempranillo Garnacha. France is the producer of rose wine par excellence, being the most recognized Provence, Languedoc-Roussillon and the Rhone Valley, from which comes one of the most famous Designation of Origin: Tavel. Each country has its vitivinicultor rose wine with specific characteris...

Opponents say taxi rules could mean ‘fights in the streets’
2008-05-07 20:51:00
DENVER - Taxi cab executives are predicting fights in the streets between rival cab drivers and even some including passengers as a result of a measure passed by Colorado lawmakers deregulating the taxi cab industry. Supporters of the plan to make it easier for drivers and companies to enter the marketplace call those statements "way overblown." House Bill 1227 re-authorizes the Public Utilities Commission (PUC), thereby making its veto by Gov. Bill Ritter (D-Colorado) extremely unlikely. The amendment to the measure, which has the Denver Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau as well as the taxi cab companies concerned, significantly lowers the barriers drivers and independent companies need to climb in order to get a license to operate a cab in Colorado. "When you have too many taxis in a market and not enough demand, you end up with fights," said Brad Whittle, an executive with Yellow Cab, one of the three cab companies (Yellow, Freedom and Metro) with licenses ...

5/11 DREAM 3 - Fights Added
2008-05-02 13:19:00
DREAM has had their fair share of problems with the tournaments. Its been well documented and I don't want to spend too much time on it. NoB has summarized the problems here. There are a couple of reasons I don't want to dwell on these things too much, but basically if you have a tournament it happens. Just think of the problems Cage Force had with their tournament. I think the 2 first events has suffered because FEG rushed into them. For DREAM 3 things are looking WAY better. They are setting up reserve fights for the tournaments and also a welterweight championship eliminator fight! This is stuff I really like and I think DREAM 3 is showing signs that DREAM are serious. Add to that the possibility of a live broadcast on HDNet (I hope they can make that happen) and things are looking up!Rumor is that the winner of Diaz vs. Inoue will take on Hayato Sakurai for the welterweight championship belt.Anyway, today there were 5 fights announced:Nick Diaz 15-7-0 vs. 16-5-3 Katsuya InoueJ...
