Bicol Cuisine ala Survivor Philippines
2008-05-19 16:45:00 Cooking the Bicolano style is not complete without the ubiquitous coconut and chili. During the Camarines tour, Tutubi and his friends were again introduced to authentic cuisine of the Bicol region using fresh catch from the sea bought from local fishermen.Simple Bicol dishes are made from traditional recipes with the two earlier mentioned key ingredients: coconut milk and chiliTutubi, took too long doing something that he wasn't able to take a photo of the coconut being pried open and grated the old-fashined way using a kudkuran (coconut grater). He was only able to capture the on "film" grated coconut being milkedtraditional way of milking coconut done on a remote island. notice also kalabasa (squash) being cut into piecescoconut milk put into a skillet then brought to a boil the victim...err..main ingredient of lunch: a still alive crab with pincers tied together coconut milk mixed with crabs, sliced squash, large green chili and other ingredients Tutubi wasn't able to keep tab...
Craving for Filipino food
2008-03-09 11:13:00 Just one week of nothing but Thai food and I'm already craving for adobo, pakbet, nilaga and sinigang. While I loved Thai food even when I have yet to visit Thailand, I've discovered that food is as intertwined with one's nationality.I've never been away from the Philippines this long before and I firmly believe that my parents' ritual of burying my umbilical cord on the place I was born had some bearing why I never seemed to have any desire for leaving my country of birth.Though I dread to quote Erap, I agree with the man--Sa Pilipinas ako ipinanganak, sa Pilipinas ako mamamatay. (I was born in the Philippines, I will die in the Philippines.)

Filipino food chain Jollibee advertising on MSN Messenger. Are you kidding
2007-08-19 02:10:00 Ive just noticed this a while ago while checking out MSN. Its very seldom that i use it but the ads below the window really gets my attention and when i got to use it earlier. Low and behold. I noticed this very familiar tagline."Crispylicious, Juicylicious CHIKENJOY!" My initial reaction was, "Are you kidding me?!? Jolibee on MSN Messenger?". Ive got no choice but to click and find out for myself. And there it was, my intuition didnt fail me. (It never fails me.hehe) I saw the familiar mascot of Jolibee Himself. And i was taken to the home page.I could only stand in awe and admiration to this company. Ever since i was a child, i never even gave Mcdonalds a chance against them. I always love the chickenjoy and the swirly bitz. This is another reason that my blog is named as such. Kirbitz and Swirly Bitz-- Does all the difference! For all of you guys who dont know Jollibee, its the number one food chain in the Philippines and well, Mcdonalds is not far behind. This ad jsut goes t... |
