2008-06-06 22:21:00 Source: www.PinoyBlogoSphere.com - NBA Finals starts earlier this morning with the celtics taking game 1 lead series 1-0. Kobe Bryant will try to redeem himself to lead the Los Angeles Lakers for another possible championship, taking a look back from the Detroit Series in 2004 why the HECK they loss in that series? Detroit didn’t even win another championship after that! Anyway, Finals starts earlier, sports and basketball fans will witness another classic match-up, rematch of Celtics-Lakers rivalry as their legacy continues, the most Winn ingest basketball clubs in history of the NBA. Who do you think will win the series? I’m a Laker fan; I can answer that at my sleep. L.A.K.E.R.S ! ! ! Of course, do not under estimate the Celtics, they have the best record at the regular season and they were favored to win the championship as early as the start of the season because of their so called big three in Garnett, Pierce and Allen. Maybe the lack of experience will be their we...

NBA Finals: Game 1: Boston Celtics Vs. L.A. Lakers
2008-06-06 09:28:00 The Boston Celtics played at home last night and cheated their way to a victory against the Los Angeles Lakers. If you watched this game you’d know they did too. NBA Finals Game 1 React
2008-06-06 07:06:00 I'm sure most of you sports fans out there were watching the game tonight. I know I was. In case you missed it the Celtics beat the Lakers 98-88. Here are a few brief thoughts I had after game 1.-Kobe was just not on tonight and facing the top Defense in the NBA didn't help either. Kobe managed to put up 24 points. However, he only shot 9-26 which is real bad.-I'll admit I definitely thought the worst when Pierce went down like that. Then I was incredibly confused when he came out of the tunnel 4 minutes later ready to play. The whole things seems a little weird (I smell a fresh NBA Conspiracy Theory Post?)-The big 3 looked good all putting up 20+. I'm very interested to see how Pierce's knee is feeling come game 2 though.-The Perkins injury is going to be interesting to me because if he can't play anymore I think Pau Gasol could be a real problem for the Celtics to handle. Perkins didn't match up well against Gasol as it is and with him out I think Gasol could have a chance ...

Finals, Fevers, Flu and Feeling Frazzled
2008-06-06 00:12:00 Ever feel like life is conspiring against your every effort to have a relaxed day (much less more than just "a day")? That is my feeling lately, especially the last two days. You see, it's the end of the school year, here, and having my daughter schooled through the California Virtual Academy means that one, I have to be sure she stays caught up- and when she isn't, making sure she gets caught up; and two, that she has time to study for her finals, so that we can show that having her home has been a good decision- beneficial for her grades and study habits. What that means is that I'm spending significantly more time looking into her lessons, in order to try to help her study and understand each subject. I'd really like to know: Can anyone explain to me what the value of learning what the figurative language means in poetry, has for adulthood? I'm serious. If you can tell me a valid use for this knowledge, for the average person (not including teachers- English or otherwi...
The Finals Start Tonight, So Who Takes Game 1?
2008-06-05 22:28:00 Tonight the NBA finals begin on ABC, with a pre-game show starting at 8:30 pm Eastern time. I'm glad the wait is over-five days without ball is long enough.Of course there are key metrics used to predict the winner. Boston is terrific at home, but I think you can throw all of those stats away. LA has won games in Denver (big deal!), Utah, and San Antonio. Boston won't be any easier, but the Jazz were an extremely strong home team. If you want to know what stats I will be marking down, check out my last post.I have to like Boston to take the first game in this series. KG is going to be more revved up than ever, Bean Town will be crazy and the Boston supporting cast feeds off of that. Ray Allen will have his rhythm tonight. The opening minutes will be sloppy, Boston should be the first team to breakout of that. There is, of course, one way LA can win. If the game is close in the final minutes, Kobe can be Kobe. He can take over, forget Boston defense, forget Tom Thibodeau and his ter...

Aamir dumbstruck by Sachin Tendulkar's acumen in IPL finals
2008-06-04 10:17:00 The IPL mania came to an end, in what was one of the most thrilling finals seen in a long time. Although Mumbaikars missed their team 'Mumbai Indians' in the final, they surely must have considered themselves lucky to get to see a cracker of a contest between two well deserving teams- 'Rajasthan Royals' & 'Chennai Super Kings'. The VIP stand of the swanky D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai saw some bigwigs from the world of politics, business, sports and Bollywood make their presence felt. A rare sight was that of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar enjoying the game with none other than Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan. While Aamir has been a lover of the game for a long time, this is the first instance when he took out time for attending the IPL matches. Although the actor was there with his nephew Imran and son Junaid, he seemed to be having a hearty talk with Sachin. The duo seemed quite animated while discussing the finer nuances of the game. And just as the match went down to t...

Then again, the only sport I watch on TV is marathon. Maybe because there's so little to understand about it and I can concentrate on the essential: the effort. And I do admire the effort Lacoste has made, giving us a glimpse of what the future of tennis will be like, to celebrate their 75 years. 2008 NBA Finals Preview
2008-06-03 07:35:00 On Thursday night the Lakers and Celtics will face off in a historical rematch of the NBA's two most storied franchises in the 2008 NBA finals. Both teams entered the playoffs as the number one seed in their conference. The Lakers came out of the Western Conference by leaning on Kobe Bryant?s MVP skills and Paul Gasol down low. The Celtics are led by the trio of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Here comes some position breakdowns and analysis.Homecourt AdvantageBoth teams are good at home but I can't go against the Garden. Their rowdy fans will have the team fired up and ready to win.Advantage: CelticsPoint GuardRajon Rondo vs. Derek FisherObviously Derek Fisher has the clear advantage when it comes to experience, he has won 3 NBA Championships and played in 148 career playoff games and Rajon Rondo has won 0 championships and played in only 20 career playoff games. This is an interesting match up because neither player is one of the best players on their respective teams bu...

A Statistical Look At The NBA Finals!
2008-06-02 17:48:00 With the finals approaching, I want to breakdown the key metrics to help both the Celtics and the Lakers win.As you know, I have been taking a look at points in the last two minutes of quarters. It seems to be much more important for the Lakers. In the Celtics series against the Pistons, two of their four wins had the Celtics with a 10 points advantage in points in the last two minutes of quarters. In one of those games there was no advantage for either team in this regard. The Lakers had a 29 point advantage in two of their four wins. Now one of these games was a blowout. In that game these numbers seemed to be most important. In a 30 point victory, they had a 21 point advantage. Without that this game would have been close and the Spurs would have tried to make another run. The other game gave the Lakers a slim eight point advantage.I also want to look at what I'm calling the P.J. Brown, Perkins, Posey to Vujacic, Turiaf, Faramar ratio. I am going to add the points, rebounds, blo...

NBA Finals Lakers vs Boston - The Rivalry Continues

The Finals Are Set!
2008-05-31 05:37:00 The Celtics beat the Pistons 89-81 to advance to the finals after winning in six games. I have to admit that I didn't expect Boston to win tonight. Despite all the talk about injuries for Hamilton and others, they should have come out with a lot more desperation. The end of the game was what hurt them; each three pointer they took was way off.Points in the last two minutes of quarters were actually tied in this game. Boston won the most important quarters (the first and fourth quarters). If you are the Pistons, you are looking at the window with the Spurs. It is shutting and I don't think it's going to be easy to slip through the cracks (especially for the Spurs). Now, it Boston and LA (hooray for the NBA's marketing)! This is going to be a great series that starts next Thursday. I don't want to predict the winner yet, but each team has impressed me in their closeout games. LA is a lot fresher so that's a big factor. I will continue to look at this match up and give you my thou...
Celtics KO Pistons en Route to NBA Finals
2008-05-31 05:23:00 It will be a renewal of a classic rivalry in the 2008 NBA Finals as the Boston Celtics will face the Los Angeles Lakers. The two dynasties are storied in their histories as championship teams, and now the newest versions will do battle. Boston took care of business Friday night, winning their second road game to eliminate the Detroit Pistons. The Luck of the Irish showed up in Detroit for sure. In the second half the Celts shot an amazing 67% field goal percentage. Rajon Rondo's shot with about 2:30 to go in the 4th put Boston up 7. Detroit had an 8 point lead just moments earlier. Billups was able to respond with a three point play to get the Pistons back into it. Posey had a huge steal from Prince after Rondo missed a three, and Pierce followed up by knocking down 2 free throws. Pistons fans began to leave the building as the Celtics had a 85-79 lead with about a minute to go. However, KG missed two free throws with 36 seconds to go, leaving signs of life for Detroit.
