Business Success and Financial Management
2008-03-28 13:31:00
As everything does for its development, a successful business also needs proper financial management. Financial management is the milestone of every developing company as it measures the distance they went up. A proper financial management includes the following steps. The first step of financial management is planning, with respective to your goals, business type, financial resources and expected expenditures. All your business systems and practice must be integrated well for achieving this goal. There must not be any loophole to anything related to financial matters. If there is any excuse, no need to discuss. The third step is the evaluation and measurement about the planning and its progress, it is directly proportional or not. If ?everything is as in the plan?, there is nothing to comp...

Financial Management and Quantitative Analysis Exams
2007-10-26 08:06:00
It's Friday and I'm thankful for two things: We do not have a Written Analysis of Cases (WAC) today and the schedule for next week is very light. But between last Monday and today, our class had three exams: two for Financial Management (FM) and one for Quantitative Analysis (QA).We had the FM pair last Tuesday and thanks to Prof. Larry Tan, as I write this post, I already know my exam scores. The exams had 20 points each and the passing grade was 12 for each exam. I got 13 and 10 on the first and second exams respectively so I'm still in the red, so to speak. What did I learn from the FM quizzes? I'm able to appreciate the financial ratios more and evaluating the financial position of companies/organizations in a systematic way. However, for the following topic, financial forecasting, I'm still a bit iffy (thus the exam scores). For the QA quiz, I found it disappointing because you spent a great deal of your time creating charts, rather than doing the analysis and computations. H...

Talking the Talk with Your Almost Elderly Parents
2007-10-18 13:00:00
You are probably at the age, or soon to be, where your parents are getting up there in age. Hey, I feel like I am getting up there myself...especially noted when I get up in the morning and actually hear the creaking of my bones! As far as your parents, there is just no happy way to do this, but at some point, you are going to have to sit down with them and discuss the future, and to make sure they are prepared the best they can be. Do not wait until an emergency happens or you are forced to make last minute rash decisions....which are typically the wrong ones! This is best done in person. It's more personable and friendly that way. I had to do it myself over the phone, and it worked out okay, so don't use "I haven't seen my parents in awhile, so I can't do it just yet" as an excuse! Starting the conversation in itself, is the hardest step! Get the dialogue going by talking about yourself and your husband. Talk about what your plans are as far as your will, plans for your...
