That statement may be a bit much but it's how I felt after reading The Murder of King Tut. I don't think I've ever read a book on a moment in history where I felt like I was reading a novel. King Tut is not a 'big' book even though it is over 300 pages. The chapters are short and the lines are double spaced but what you learn about this time period and the events that lead to this young boy becoming a King is more than most dusty, voluminous text books would give. James Patterson also brings to life Howard Carter, the Egyptologist who found Tutankhamun. You can feel the passion Carter has for Egypt and of his delight in his discovery, just as you come to know the other main characters of Tut's life who are fleshed out by giving them emotion and detail. Tony Scheffler, the 2nd year TE who figures to be a favorite target of QB Jay Cutler, suffered a broken foot after running a route in 7-on-7 drills near the end of today's practice session. Much was made during the off-season of the 20 pounds Scheffler had added to his frame. I wasn't crazy about it to begin with, and it seems the Broncos weren't either, with reports that Scheffler had lost 10-12 of those pounds already, and was planning on losing 5 more during the upcoming practice periods. While the thought is that Scheffler should be ready just in time for Training Camp in July, one never can tell, and we should know alot more after Scheff undergoes corrective surgery on Monday. Samsung jumped from 4 percent in the year-earlier quarter to 11 percent this year, propelling it to a fourth-place finish, IDC said.Kodak fared better, shipments increasing 5 percent--the first growth in five quarters, attributable to its emphasis on compact cameras costing between $200 and $300, IDC said. First BitTorrent convict loses appeal
2007-05-18 21:04:00 Chan Nai-ming, the Hong Kong man reportedly the first to go to court over using BitTorrent, lost his appeal last week and must now face the music. Nai-ming was convicted in late 2005. After spending several weeks in jail, his motion for appeal was granted. However, the second ruling also found him guilty. He must now be in prison for another three months. BitTorrent has become a popular means of illegal peer-to-peer file distribution, but it’s difficult to track down the originator of a copyrighted file. Nai-ming was actually caught with pirated versions of three motion pictures during a standard customs check. They then traced him to sharing the movies online via BitTorrent. “He plainly succeeded in distributing copies of the films in question. The appeal must accordingly be dismissed,” said the judges in their ruling. The case can not be appealed any higher. Source: TGDaily.com
