Tutorial | Create a AS3 / Flash 9 MP3 Player with spectrum display
2008-05-28 23:32:00 In this tutorial, we’re going to build a Flash mp3 player with a spectrum analyzer written in AS3. We’ll focus on the spectrum analyzer and build just the basic functionality for the player itself. Actionscript 3 has a new class called SoundMixer which gives you global sound control in the SWF file. It comes with the computeSpectrum method that takes a snapshot of the current sound wave and places it into the specified ByteArray object. The values are formatted as floating-point values, in the range -1.0 to 1.0. There are in total 512 values. Half of them for the right and left channel. With these values you can easily create a visual spectrum. Let’s take a closer look at our renderSpectrum function, which is automatically called, when Flash enters a new frame. 2007-12-05 22:00:00 Adobe has released an update to Flash 9 that allows it to play HD video. This has been a long time coming and allows Flash to go places that other vendors have yet to reach yet. Being able to watch HD video on the web is a huge step forward for Netflix, Vongo, MovieLink, CinemaNow and others. Hopefully Adobe's push forward with high definition video will increase interest in the subject and improve the availability of legitimate video services on the internet. Currently most of those sites only offer old and very bad B movies for watching online. Which of course makes it a less viable option. The original press release can be found from Adobe. Except for three issues which just wouldn't get sorted out. The first one is sound. There is absolutely no sound on this machine. 2007-08-22 05:58:00 Well it looks like those boys over at Adobe haven't been sitting on their hands with Flash. As a new version of flash ships it brings with it some MASSIVE improvements. Flash Video Player 9 will be adding support for the new H.264 codec, which oddly enough makes me wonder if Apple knew something or if youtube and Apple somehow managed to get Adobe to add H264 support, considering youtube for the iPhone has YouTube converting all their video's over to the h264 format. FLV9 will also be brining the AAC audio compression allowing for more efficient encoding and streaming of audio. But what's even more impressive is the fact that they have announced that Flash 9 will bring with it hardware acceleration for all types of full screen videos. Final Mac and Windows versions became available on November 14th and the Linux version was called final on January 16th. Reemplaza la línea que hace referencia a la versión de Flash instalada: Shockwave Flash 7.0 r63:$ por Shockwave Flash 9.0 r63:$ Ahora cada vez que ingreses a sitios con Flash no te pedirá instalarte la última versión de este. 2006-09-03 08:51:04 Es indignante que todavía Macromedia no halla sacado ni la versión 8 de flash para Linux, pero a través del blog de Xubuntu, he encontrado la forma de poner en Mozilla Firefox el flash 9, es decir, una versión más moderna que la ya anticuada versión 7 que actualmente hay para Linux. Lo primero que vamos a hacer es hacer una copia de seguridad de este fichero. Para ello ejecutamos en la consola las siguientes intrucciones: cp ~/.mozilla/firefox/pluginreg.da-t ~/.mozilla/firefox/pluginreg.da-t.bak Ahora vamos a editar este archivo: nano ~/.mozilla/firefox/pluginreg.da-t Simplemente remplazamos la linea que dice Shockwave Flash 7.0 r63:$ y la sustituimos por Shockwave Flash 9.0 r63:$ Y todo listo, ya tendremos el Flash 9 para nuestro Firefox. :)
