2007-11-28 14:53:00 When I heard laughter followed by splashing, I feared the worst. My instincts were, unfortunately, right on the money. I thought I would share this photograph with you because, in addition to being pretty hilarious, it exemplifies geek parenting. After all, a normal mother would have flipped out, hoisted him from the toilet bowl and then scrubbed off the first two layers of his skin. A geeky mother, however, calmly goes for her digital camera so she can blog about it later. Hey, he's already contaminated. What's 30 more seconds? Don't ask me where the kid thought he was flushing himself to. I blame the talking, Japanese toilet.

2007-09-05 08:53:00 My prediction on Sunday that the latest X Factor will be Sharon Osbourne's swansong series may prove correct - I see that the woman who likes to share her shit with her nearest and dearest has leaked (so to speak) to The Sun her intention to quit the show. Apparently, she's tired of being pitted against Dannii Minogue by Simon Cowell and "being out of the loop". The reality is she was told to shove it after the producers read last weekend's News of the World - her brother David Arden's most serious allegation was that she tried to persuade her protege Ben Mills to quit the third series when it became obvious Simon's Leona Lewis would triumph. She's never won a series. As for Cowell, Minogue's appointment was a masterstroke to remove the demented and bullying Osbourne - a woman who should redirect her finances from cosmetic surgery to psychiatry.

2007-07-13 15:06:00 With an Aardman movie, a good level of quality is assured. You can always guarantee great attention to detail, great visuals and a pacy story. You certainly get a great deal of that here, but something seems to be missing which may just be the the final layer of Aardman fairy dust that has been sprinked on some of their other fun movies. Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet certainly add star power but perhaps aren't the most recognisable of voices. Maybe it's just because the movie centres around rats that it felt less heart-warming. A cut above many animated movies out there, and one for Aardman fans, but don't expect too much. This is a JM SUCK IT AND SEE.

When that movie has been directed by two of the hottest hitters in town, produced by the best in the business, filled with sex, violence and stars, and yet it still flops, then the entire industry panics. Such is the case for Grindhouse , the new double-feature homage to 1970s exploitation movies, directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. 2007-02-18 08:32:00 I had never heard of Aardman before Wallace & Gromit - The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and I was quite thoroughly impressed with that movie.So when it was declared that the next Aardman movie would not be claymation but a 3d animation coming out of Dreamworks I was like, "Ouch! There goes another creative team down the digital toilet." (Pardon the pun :))Flushed Away is absolutely brilliant.Yet again I fail to see why critics have a problem with this movie. It is quite thoroughly entertaining.The voice acting is simply awesome.While Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet are good the real fun comes in with Ian McKellen and Jean Reno. Bill Nighy and Andy Serkis provide the right evil-and-dumb villain combo.The plot has a certain icky feel to it and I guess we should thank the creators they did not go for ultra realism. Our hero gets flushed down his own toilet (well, the toilet of the humans that keep him) and we get to see him travel down what is probably the cleanest route to the sewer.Dow...
