Forgotten gun at school may lead to explusion
2008-11-02 18:16:00 Can YOU find the *GUN* in this story? Ashley Wiener thought she might get some flak for leaving her 1986 Toyota Camry parked overnight at Sachse High School. Forgotten Victims of Domestic Violence - the Children
2008-10-20 19:07:00 As I read people of faith's reactions to those spouses that speak of domestic violence I have to wonder if they remember the what I feel is the forgotten victims of domestic violence...the children.Ward of Court wrote a post recently, and I wonder at times if people that enable abusers stop to think about the children - and how this impacts their lifes greatly as well. It seems the author of this blog lost both her parents one night. Her mother was killed, and her father landed in prision. This is the reason why I write about my mom. I want her example to shine brightly and help others being victimized by Domestic Violence. Although her murderer, my father, is about to leave prison with a whole life ahead of him, he hasn?t left behind a legacy. His life in my opinion is empty, wasted. My mother, although dead, will still live on as her example helps others. This will be her legacy ? A legacy of self-discovery, self-love and resurrection. He says that the world ...

Forgotten Something?
2008-06-26 20:29:00 Forgetting a birthday- be it your partner's, your mother's or your best friend's, it's a cardinal sin. And whenever it happens, the guilty is always the worthy recipient of scorn and derision, and usually, what's coming to the accused is always warranted. Birthdays are important things, and should be celebrated accordingly- with festivity, and whenever possible with lots of food and alcohol. But what happens when you forget your own birthday? Well, it's not exactly my own birthday that I have forgotten; now that would almost be equivalent to suffering retrograde amnesia, but it's actually the blog's birthday that I have neglected to remember. It's true, Milk and Cookies turned 2 years old, a good 8 weeks ago, and the momentous occasion almost passed by without so much as a mere mention or acknowledging it with a hip-hip-hooray and a little rendition of "for he's a jolly good fellow". Shame on me! Perhaps I was too distracted by my up-coming travel plans. Born on the 2n...

MHR's Forgotten Broncos -- Frank "The Trip" Tripucka
2008-06-04 01:00:00 Would you think a guy who never threw more touchdowns than interceptions in his career would ever get his number retired? I would have said, "Hell no", before I learned that Mr. Francis M.J. "Frank" Tripucka did. The Denver Broncos have retired exactly three jerseys in its storied history. The two obvious ones of John Elway's #7 and Floyd Little's #44 stood out, but then I noticed that ole #18 was retired long before both. In the coming weeks, Guru will be doing his run down of the greatest Broncos ever to wear certain numbers. It promises to be a very good series, but I can guarantee that his 18th post will be quite dull. Since only one guy has ever worn the number. Frank Tripucka was an All American in 1948 while playing for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, going 9-0-1 that season finishing #2 in the nation. He was drafted number one overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1949 draft, but the Eagles traded Tr...

Mysterious pits shed light on forgotten witches of the West
2008-05-28 14:13:00 Evidence of pagan rituals involving swans and other birds in the Cornish countryside in the 17th century has been uncovered by archaeologists.Since 2003, 35 pits at the site in a valley near Truro have been excavated containing swan pelts, dead magpies, unhatched eggs, quartz pebbles, human hair, fingernails and part of an iron cauldron. The finds have been dated to the 1640s, a period of turmoil in England when Cromwellian Puritans destroyed any links to pre-Christian pagan England. It was also a period when witchcraft attracted the death sentence. Read the rest of this article...

MHR's Forgotten Broncos -- Austin "Goose" Gonsoulin
2008-05-27 01:01:00 The Goose was and still is the greatest defensive back to ever play for the Denver Broncos. Champ Bailey may one day break Austin Gonsoulin's many Bronco records, but until that happens he will have to play second fiddle to the great Goose. Gonsoulin played just eight seasons, yet his play during his short career earned him the unique honor of being one of the four original Ring of Fame members in 1984. I consider him to be among the forgotten Broncos that deserve to be in the hall of fame, but has been snubbed thus far by those who hold the power of selection. Gonsoulin was born in Port Arthur, Texas where he played running back and defensive back in high school while also starring in track. He was chosen to All-District and All-State in his senior year before heading to Baylor where he added receiver to his list of playing positions. This versatility made him a complete player when the Denver Broncos brought him in to play defensive ...

You can also use the default Administrator account that is built into Windows XP.First you need to boot the system into Safe Mode.1.Restart your system.2.When you see the blue Dell globe or screen, press the ( F8 ) key about 3 times a second.3.You should get the Windows startup menu. MHR's Forgotten Broncos -- Rich "Tombstone" Jackson
2008-05-22 01:01:00 When Bronco fans today are asked who the most famous Bronco ever to don the #87 jersey, most would blurt out "Eddie Mac!" before giving anything more than half a thought. The fact is, the most famous and most talented Bronco ever to wear the #87 Bronco uniform had a nickname that understated his true force on the field of play. His nickname was "Tombstone" and yes, I said that understates his true presence on the field. We all love Eddie Mac and he was a great player for us, but he never had the NFL write a special rule just for him in order to protect the lives of other players. That rule was written because of the exploits of Rich "Tombstone" Jackson. The special rule I am referring to is the "Head Slap" rule, which was instituted in 1977 by the NFL in large part because of Rich Jackson and others after him, such as Deacon Jones. His patented head slap moves, like the "halo spinner", earned Jackson a reputation as one of the to...

2008-05-20 22:28:00 Joe, have you forgotten Shaun Toub, the guy who helped him build the first Iron Man while he was held hostage? And the light skinned vs dark-skinned villagers, upon his return?I'm talking about the scenes in Afghanistan, the interrogators, etc. I think you're being willfully obtuse now.Sorry about the short comment. My kid woke up and I had to go get her. (I do blogs before I go to work, unless she wakes up early.) I meant to cancel out the comment but, obviously, I didn’t. Shaun Toub is who I meant by “the doctor”. I never caught the characters name. My point was that there were light and dark skinned characters on both sides of the line, and in roughly equal number for the main characters. You may be right about villagers being lighter than the terrorists. I don’t really recall. They all coded as ‘dark’ to me. But I was looking more at the shiny red and gold suit than anything else. My take, and I wasn’t keeping notes on this, was that the bad guys were central Asi...

MHR's Forgotten Broncos -- Marlin Briscoe
2008-05-15 01:00:00 There has been much discussion in recent years about the ability of an African American to quarterback in the NFL. Prior to the new millennium, the Warren Moon’s and Randall Cunningham’s of the world were more exceptions to the rule rather than a rewriting of the rule. It wasn’t until the late 90’s and into our current time that African American quarterbacks finally began to be taken seriously by NFL teams, scouts, coaches, the media, and everyone else in America. There is no longer any debate that African Americans are every bit as able to command and lead at the quarterback position, nor is there any debate that a person is unable to grasp complex schemes and systems based on their race. The road to total equality in the NFL was a long one, with many sad stories along the way(Google Eldridge Dickey and Joe Gilliam). We all know that the first major breakthrough for African American quarterbacks came aga...

I have forgotten everything. I don't remember a single word
2008-05-14 17:00:00 A spiritual master received a learned man who came to gain deeper insight into the mysteries of life. The master prepared tea, and while serving the tea he began to explain, but the learned man kept on interrupting him with his own opinions. So the master poured his visitor's cup full, and then kept on pouring. The learned man watched the overflow until he no longer could restrain himself, "It is overfull, No more will go in!" he exclaimed. To this the master responded by saying ; "Like this cup, you are full of your own opinions and speculations. How can I show you anything unless you first empty your cup?" The above Zen story, A Cup of Tea, is ancient knowledge expressed metaphorically so we can grasps the concept of unlearning in order to learn. What I have learned about myself along these lines is when I'm in a state of Insomnia; waiting for sleep is wasted time so I choose to spend the time in reflection. I ...
MHR's Forgotten Broncos -- Lionel Taylor
2008-05-09 14:05:00 Not all Bronco's are completely forgotten, but there are times when the younger generation of fans need to remember the greats of the Bronco past. When the Denver Broncos formed in 1960 along with the AFL, they team was filled with no names and castaways. One of those men was a castaway from the Chicago Bears. Lionel Taylor went to the Bears in his rookie season after a stellar career at unknown New Mexico Highlands University. Taylor spent eight games with the Bears, mostly on the bench, logging zero pass catches and was released. As with most NFL rejects, Lionel Taylor found himself looking for work in the AFL. He walked on to try out for the Denver Broncos and after several one handed grabs in practice he quickly worked himself into the starting line up. Not known for his blazing speed, Taylor may have had the best hands in the entire AFL. He quickly became the Broncos only super star in the early 6...

Taking a Sewing Class - Reliving a Long Forgotten Hobby
2008-05-07 19:54:00 Have you ever indulged yourself in sewing? Was it to fix a button that was loose or tuck in the seam of a dress? The majority of people don’t remember the last time that they needed to use a thread and needle in their hands. Once sewing was a main occupation of at least one member of every home, as clothes were required to protect our bodies from the cold. Before the 1700’s the sewing of clothes or any other type of fabric was completed by hand but around the mid 1700’s the first sewing machine was invented. It was manual but it consumed less time and gave good quality sewing results. As decades turned to centuries sewing took on many different forms, sewing classes became a skill that the majority of women needed to learn to clothe their family while the man of the house was away at work. The Progression of Sewing In due time, sewing become very popular for both men and women as clothes became more fashionable and trendy and tailors were the fashion designers of...

MHR's Forgotten Broncos -- Floyd Little
2008-05-01 15:00:00 Welcome to the newest segement of Broncos History. A special thank you to TrinidadJack for coming up with the name of Forgotten Broncos. I decided the best way to kick off a topic like this was to feature an article written by someone who lived through the experience. Floyd Little was thee Franchise while John Elway was making the difficult transition from running back to quarterback in pop warner. I understand many of you would take offense to Floyd Little being considered a Forgotten Bronco, but the point of this series to keep the memories of these past Broncos alive and well in the Bronco consciousness. Simple stats or awards does not do justice to what Floyd Little meant to the fans and the city of Denver, so I hope you enjoy this article written by firstfan as much as I did. Floyd Little by firstfan Let’s begin this story of Floyd Little and the Denver Broncos in 1965. For in that year the mos...
