How?s this for Renault?s Corporate Social Responsibility?
2009-09-23 19:18:00
When in 2002 the Benetton Formula One team morphed into Renault it was clear that what the French car giant was seeking to do was to secure brand value from the move, in return, of course, for funding. Constructors’ and Drivers’ championships in 2005 and 2006 will undoubtedly have given the brand a major boost ...
Formula One and laminar flow
2009-05-10 17:37:00
Well, I was watching the F1 race in Spain this morning and came up with another of my goofy ideas. The engineers in F1 are as fanatic about aerodynamics as airplane designers, and they spend hundreds of millions of dollars on wind tunnel research, but I've never heard them mention laminar flow in F1
Formula One Engines
2009-05-06 16:52:00
I was watching a TV show about Formula One engines, and the technology is just amazing. One of the things they focused on is the drag coefficient of the crankshaft counterweights as they rotated at extremely high rpm. Wouldn't it be better if they made the counterweights with a very dense, heavy mat
Montreal loses the Formula One Grand Prix.
2008-10-09 16:59:00
As we were remembering and celebrating the first Formula One victory of Gilles Villeneuve thirty years ago this week, a bombshell hitted the organization led by Normand Legault.Bernie Ecclestone unveiled a version of the 2009 calendar this week and the Canadian Grand Prix is not on the list. The 2009 calendar was supposed to contain a total of 19 races but is now only showing 18. The Canadian Grand Prix is nowhere to be found on the list.In reaction to this fact yesterday, Normand Legault, the only remaining private Formula One race promoter, announced that he and his company (Grand Prix du Canada) are retiring themselves and will not negotiate for any future Formula One Grand Prix to be held in Montreal. The amount of money asked by Bernie Ecclestone to run again in Montreal is too much for Legault and his company. In a word, the Canadian Grand Prix is officially dead. The only way that another Formula One race could be held on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit is through a negotiation ...

Formula One ? Hamilton or Massa Who could be the Next World Champion?
2008-09-17 19:49:00
By Claudia Beckford This year?s Formula One World Championship has been a very different story from the one we witnessed last year when the leading car constructors and some drivers were involved in a dark spy saga which ended in a multi-million dollar fine and the point-withdraw from the Mercedes team. Nevertheless, there were and still ...

Full Disk Encryption Is Priority One For Formula One Drivers: Blackmail Sug
2008-05-16 06:50:00
Reportedly, a ?thief? has tried to ?blackmail? Formula One driver Adrian Sutil.  I?m having problems calling the guy a thief, though, and I?m not sure I see the blackmail angle.  Not that I?m excusing this guy from his actions.  Either way, he has helped highlight the need for better disposal practices when it comes to throwing away one?s computer.  Hard drive encryption could have helped in this case, although a magazine publisher with standards will serve in a pinch.   The facts are the following, supposedly: Sutil?s father gets rid of the computer.  Nobody knows where it ended up, but a man by the name of ?Dieter? acquires the hard disk found in the computer.  Dieter accesses the disk and finds Sutil?s data: financial information, such as Swiss bank account transactions, as well as photographs and personal correspondence.  Obviously, data security measures like full disk encryption from AlertBoot were not present; otherwise, Dieter wouldn?t...

Poll Results: Not many give Force India a chance at Formula One Championshi
2008-04-20 08:50:00
I had put up a poll a month back asking readers on what they think are the chances of Vijay Mallya backed Force India Formula One team at this years championship and what will be their standings. Here is what the Poll results show: More than 46% readers expect Force India will be in the bottom 4. The first 3 races of this season seem to be pointing at that as well. Good number (27%) of readers feel that they will be in the middle of the pack. I'd be surprised if Force India ranks above number 7. It will be very difficult but not impossible.

It seems that that upper class Brits like kinky sex and fast cars.Max Mosley, one of the most powerful men in world sport, was under pressure to resign as boss of Formula One?s governing body last night after he was exposed enjoying a Nazi-style orgy with five prostitutes. Jewish groups condemned the behaviour of Mosley, 67, whose father, Sir Oswald, was the leader of the British Union of Fascists and a friend of Adolf Hitler. Mr Mosley was caught on video by the News of the World with five women in an underground ?torture chamber? in Chelsea, where he spent several hours allegedly indulging in sado-masochistic sex. The Oxford-educated former barrister, who is president of the Fédération Internationale de l?Automobile (FIA), reenacted a concentration camp scene in which he played the role of both guard and inmate. function pictureGalleryPopup(pubUrl,arti-cleId) { var newWin = window.open(pubUrl+'template/2.-0-0/element/pictureGalleryPopup-.jsp?id='+articleId+'&&offset=0-&§ion...

Formula One Championship: Has Force India got any chances?
2008-03-18 16:00:00
The F1 season has started on a wrong note for Force India making its debut at Australian Grand Prix. The mainstay of Force India, the seasoned Giancarlo Fisichella, could not even get his car across through the first bend due to a messy accident. Adrian Sutil, the other rookie driver for Force India did put up some show till the time car gave up. Coming from behind he atleast overtook 5 cars, probably the only solace for Vijay Mallya backed Force India F1 team. Having said that, I would not run to any conclusions as yet, given that more than two thirds of the car could not even get to the checkered flag. I am setting up a month long poll for readers to know what they think about the chances of Force India in this years Formula One Championship.
