Hedge Fund Fraud - Seaforth Meridian

Kansas federal Judge Richard D. Rogers last week ordered Alain A. Assemi to disgorge $577,598 and John D. Friedrich to disgorge $277,340. He also ordered them to pay prejudgment interest of $39,440 and $18,938, respectively. The two were owners and managers of Seaforth Meridian of New York., a hedge fund that purported to invest in A-rated fixed-income bonds and corporate securities. Between May 2004 and October 2005, Seaforth attracted investments totaling nearly $22 million from 75 limited partner investors, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission."

The Hyderabad International Film Festival Committee had decided to hold the forthcoming Film Festival from January 3 to January 10, 2008 at Prasad's Multiplex. Noted Director V Sagar will act as the vice-chairman of the committee, while Union minister Dr Dasari Narayana Rao would be the chairman.The films to be screened in the film festival would be divided into 12 categories and they would be screened in Prasad's Multiplex and Lalitha Kala Thoranam. In each category there would be 2 prizes. In a statement the committee says, "Those who were interested to get their feature films screened in the International Film Festival should submit their entries before November 20, 2007. For Short Films and Documentaries, the last date will be December 1, 2007."

Now we're seeing the next round of soothsaying by a flimsy franco-rumor site, telling us that the higher-end amateur model will have a 14.4-megapixel sensor, a 2.5-inch LCD viewscreen (no word about whether it will have live view or not), CompactFlash card support and wireless flash from the camera. There were even more rumors flying around, too.Sony told us at PMA in March (that's when we took the pictures you see above) there would be an even higher-end pro model forthcoming, too, but would tell us nothing else. Then they sent me this stupid piece of paper saying that the original lease will be void and this paper will be enforceable. It says that they will not be responsible for the rest of the lease, and I need to give them the full deposit (no deductions whatsoever) on the last day right before they leave. They wrote that I need to sign it within 24 hours or they will not be able to buy the house, and then they will make my life miserable!
