Tom Gonzales - Commerce One Founder Sues East Bay Community Foundation
2008-06-22 13:04:00
(Story reposted at the request of our own Robin Belker..) Tom Gonzales, the co-founder of Commerce One, has filed a lawsuit to against East Bay Community Foundation of Oakland and to regain control of his son's charitable bequest in order to ensure that the tens of millions of dollars are spent as the younger Tom Gonzales wished. In this, the image of the East Bay Community Foundation has been damaged. The East Bay Community Foundation was originally the receiver of a bequest of $23 million from the Gonzales Foundation, and it was to be controlled by EBCF. But distribution of the money has been on hold until various tax claims involving the Gonzales estate are resolved. In a kind of fit, EBCF elected to sue the family just because EBCF has not received all of the money due to the tax matter. I guess they forgot who it belonged to. But in doing this, the reputation of the East Bay Community Foundation has been damaged because it seems like an awardee can't trust the East Bay Co...

TIMradio #5: Chris Lahiji, Founder Of LDMicro.com
2008-06-08 18:18:00
Before I started going ballistic with all my press, there was a younger, more press-hungry microcap stock guy named Chris Lahiji. His claim to fame was reading something like 12,000 annual reports and he also managed to become the youngest mutual fund manager in history! While there was another young microcap guy who also got a ton of attention, Daniel Lebed, who famously got sued by the SEC for manipulating stocks when he was just a wee little teenager, Lahiji’s fame, like mine, was due to legal financial activities, which, call me crazy, is a little more deserving of respect (even if our society sadly prefers crap like Scarface and Blow to the biographies of the true greats JP Morgan and Bernard Baruch). … [visit site to read more]

Alan Levy, BLOGTALKRADIO.com founder: Mr. Media Audio Interview
2008-05-29 14:46:00
I?m a lucky guy.Last December, I received an email from a woman named Amy Domestico, inviting me to bring my podcast, Mr. Media, to a relatively new media site called BlogTalkRadio. We exchanged some emails and finally talked on the phone.Up until that point, I recorded my interviews over the telephone on a digital tape recorder and uploaded them to the Internet and my web site, www.mrmedia.com. The system worked, but it was clunky and excluded listener participation.I agreed to try one interview on BlogTalkRadio ? on one-day notice. It was with the producer of a small indie film called Nemesis. I told him about BlogTalkRadio and said if it didn?t work, we could do a do-over.Not only did it work, but he even convinced the star of his film to call in as a surprise guest.I don?t think I?ve done an interview the old-fashioned way, ever since. That?s why joining me today is one of my heroes, Alan Levy, founder of BlogTalkRadio.com.You can LISTEN to this interview by clicking the BlogTalk...

About the Founder of The Baptist Muse
2008-05-28 06:01:00
I was raised in Amboy, IL, a small rural community in the northern part of the state. I was raised by my father as a single child until I was thirteen years old. It was during that time, that I received Christ as a young child at vacation Bible school at the First Baptist Church in Amboy, IL.I lived with my father only until I was thirteen because he was a very violent man. He was a very hard drinker and often succumbed to very violent fits of anger. He was abusive both mentally and physically. My childhood was anything but easy.Due to these difficult circumstances in my home, it was at that time that my Aunt and Uncle adopted me into their family. When that transaction took place, I gained two brothers and one sister. I also later found out that my mother remarried and had two daughters who I have yet to meet. From the time I was in the eighth grade until the time that I graduated high school, I had the privilege of attending small private schools. During my freshm...

TIMradio #3: Tom Sosnoff, Founder of Online Broker Thinkorswim
2008-05-09 20:21:00
As I sit here waiting for the near-inevitable crack in VRML’s stock price, I thought I’d offer up a podcast for your listening and learning pleasure: You’ve all heard me talk about how much I love and recommend Thinkorswim as a broker–not only do they have the best customer service/software, but they have solid borrows through Penson and most importantly, the people at the company actually try to help customers instead of ripping them off. Maybe that’s why there’s a Chicago-based firm, not NYC. So for TIMradio podcast #3, I was fortunate to have a fine little chat with the man behind the curtain, Thinkorswim’s founder himself, Tom Sosnoff. Besides being a legendary options trader and frequent industry speaker, he’s one hell of a laidback / good guy…one of the few out there…so I hope I can still be like him when I’m that rich!
