Tom Hanks Drops Out of Frank Darabont?s Fahrenheit 451
2008-03-28 23:59:00 ?Sayonara, Bonfire of the Vanities!? Frank Darabont?s adaptation of the classic novel Fahrenheit 451 ranks right up there with Tarantino?s Inglorious Bastards, Fincher?s Rendezvous with Rama and Aronofsky?s take on Lone Wolf & Cub as an epic dream project that?s been discussed for ages. For nearly a year, Tom Hanks had been pegged for the 2009 film?s lead role of Guy Montag, a content fireman of the future who slowly realizes that his government occupation of burning books and oppressing book owners is nothing less than horrific. Unfortch(-unately, by reader request) Hanks is no longer attached to what would have been his second collabo(-ration, by reader request) with the director after 1999?s so-so The Green Mile, according to Darabont? "Mr. Hanks sadly and regretfully had to back out," Darabont told MTV. "I was really looking forward to working with him again but his other commitments just precluded it. He had to take a step back." Darabont remains confident in his long perc...

Pete Von Sholly, "Capitol Hell" artist: Mr. Media Interview, Part 3
2008-01-26 19:03:00 (Return to Part 2)(Return to Part 1)BOB ANDELMAN/Mr. MEDIA: I know you want to talk about dinosaurs, so let?s talk about dinosaurs. You like to mix them up in your work, combining dinosaurs with real people, which I?m thinking is a little bit Jurassic Park, which is your film background, but it?s also a little bit of creationism, too. Do you want to touch on that a little bit?PETE VON SHOLLY: Well, The Lost World, by Conan Doyle, might be one of the first and one of my favorite books involving the survival of dinosaurs into our times. There?s really nothing new about that in fiction. I don?t think of it as having anything to do with creationism myself. I think anybody who looks at the fossil record and looks at science will find that that?s just absurd to think that that?s literal creationism. No, I don?t. I just look for any excuse to draw and paint dinosaurs.ANDELMAN: Why? What is it about dinosaurs?VON SHOLLY: Well, there?s a good question. Why do people like cars, or why do peo...

Frank Darabont repite con Stephen King: ‘The Long Walk’ - SendMeRSS

?The Mist? Interview Transcript With Frank Darabont, Marcia Gay Harden, Tho
2007-11-14 19:23:00 On Nov. 6, I joined a conference call on ?The Mist? with director Frank Darabont (?The Green Mile,? ?The Shawshank Redemption?), Marcia Gay Harden (?Rails & Ties?), Thomas Jane (?The Punisher?) and Chris Owen (?American Pie?).Download the 51-page ?The Mist? transcript here. The first question posed started off without romance by going straight to the throat. The journalist asked Darabont about his ?Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? script involvement.Refusing to be derailed, Darabont said: ?That really is another conversation. Let?s stay on the subject. Do you have anything on ?The Mist???Forging on, Darabont delved into his being a ?writer for hire?. Initially a ?screenwriter first and a director on occassion,? he discussed why only recently he decided to ?reverse that equation?.The MistPhoto credit: IMDbAt 48 years old, Darabont said: ?I?m not getting any younger. I feel like I have more movies to make.?As for Gay Harden?s involvement, she commented on how ?it?s a...
Frank Darabont Prepared To Fight For Indiana Jones Writing Credit
2007-11-13 13:14:00 It has been rumoured that Frank Darabont is now pushing for writing credit after “wasting a year†writing Indiana Jones 4, only for his script to be ditched in favour of Spider-man scribe David Koepp. Apparently, both Darabont and Keopp’s screenplays are very similar. Frank Darabont has said he expects a fight, “I haven’t read the script, [but] at a certain point I will because I’m sure there will be an arbitration over writing credits. I keep hearing from people who are near the production and they keep saying, ‘You know, they’re using more of your ideas here than you may have thought. “I did suggest to Steven that he cast John Hurt in this movie and I’m delighted that Mr. Hurt is a part of it. It’s not entirely the role I suggested him for … but I did suggest him.†Darabont went on to admit he didn’t write the part that Shia LaBeouf plays in the film, “That’s a whole new element that’s been brought in. Shia? I don’t remember writing that charact...

Frank Darabont Videoblogging Filming of ?The Mist?
2007-03-25 14:31:00 Filed under: Horror, DIY/FilmmakingWho knew that Frank Darabont was going to be giving us a sneak peek at the making of his upcoming film in his self-documented webisodes? I didn't, but I'm so glad it's happening. The first webisode, published by Darabont himself, gives you a look at what's happening on the set of The Mist. Specifically, we get a glimpse at one of the horrendous earthquakes that shakes its way through the film. Also featured in the webisode is comic book genius Eric Powell -- creator of The Goon -- who offers up a little help with the special effects by shaking some shelves to make the scene more real. After watching playback on what he sees as a successful scene, Darabont exclaims, "Just like being at home in L.A.!"The Mist is based on the Stephen King novel, in which a terrible storm hits a small town in Maine, creating a large engulfing mist. Within the mist lives horrifying creatures that cause a group of people to fight for their lives while seeking shelter... |
