2008-05-30 02:03:00 This is for those of you who missed the --dv--l-ny Original Samples when it was posted all over the message boards and hip-hop sites a couple months ago. Most of these were taken down because someone claiming he's the artist in question sent a random message on Myspace and requested that the files be taken down. After scouring the web for a couple hours, I finally hit the jackpot with a Sharebee link on Google that was cleverly disguised as a random title. I am being vague about the actual artist, because I don't want these files to be removed right away. However, those of you who know what the artists look like will recognize them in the photo above.I'm not trying to go against the artist's wishes, but damn if these aren't the most obscure samples to ever be incorporated into a hip-hop record. Further, I don't believe that it was the artist who actually sent the message. It's probably just some disgruntled fan of his music who felt that posting these original sample sources...

Last night he and the E-Street Band played a fund raiser at and for the Count Basie Theater in New Jersey and the lucky few who made it got to hear an all-70's show, including complete playings, in order, of both the Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town albums. They even got the Max Weinberg 7 horn section on a few songs in addition to the regular E-Street Band horns. Neil Diamond's "surprise" show at the Bitter End in New York last night was an obvious sellout with speakers being put in the windows so the unlucky fans could hear the show. The seven song set included three songs from his mid-60's days at Bang Records, three from the new album Home Before Dark and the classic Sweet Caroline. It was probably myth and legend that first drew me to the music of Zappa, but after a bit of a grace period, I’ve really started to dig it, especially his guitar work.
