Pat Paulson, Fred Phelps, Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright
2008-03-14 22:08:00 The Reverend Fred Phelps is a bigot and by the media’s definition homophobic.  Suppose a presidential candidate, say the late Pat Paulson, was member in good standings of Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church,   Our ever vigilant media, after twenty years, just now discovers that Paulson has been a member of Phelps’ congregation. In response, Paulson repudiates Phelps and leaves the WBC.  Would that suffice? Would repudiation absolve Paulson?  I say no.  No fox will spend twenty years in a hen house unless he likes chickens.  Would the GLT population accept Paulson?  Should they? Jeremiah Wright is a racist and has been Barack Obama’s minister since 1991.  Whether mere repudiation alone will do is a academic question.   Obama has not even done that much yet.  Mrs. Barack Obama, Michelle, is a racist.  Obama’s minister is a racist.   Anybody up o making that case the Barack Obama is not a racist? Fred Phelps Spits on Heath Ledger's Memory
2008-01-27 22:30:00 Christians of the right wing variety engage in activities that flaunt the teachings of the gospel, online and off. When you look at the conduct of many of them it makes the sayings of Jesus seem like a joke. Admonitions to not only love thy neighbor, but love thine enemy also have no meaning for people who are fueled by hatred and driven by ideological fanaticism. No Christian in America hates more than Fred Phelps and his crew of dysfunctional followers, sometimes referred to as the 'God Hates Fags' fanatics. Their latest target is Heath Ledger, a brilliant young Australian actor who struggled with fame and the personal challenges it brought.Ever the publicity slut, Phelps crawled out of his cave in order to spew venom on everything Heath Ledger stood for :"Heath Ledger thought it was great fun defying God Almighty and his plain word; to wit: God Hates Fags! & Fag Enablers! Ergo, God hates the sordid tacky, bucket of slime seasoned with vomit known as Brokeback Mountain - and ...

Anti-gay minister Fred Phelps will protest at the funeral of actor Heath L
2008-01-27 10:30:00 &-nbsp; &n-bsp; Does this man have nothing better to do?!Anti-gay minister Fred Phelps has vowed to protest at the funeral of actor Heath Ledger, who was tragically found dead on Tuesday. Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church is legendary for their hatred of gays and protests at the funerals of gay-bashing victims and soldiers in the U.S. military."God hates fag-enablers," the Westboro Baptist Church proclaimed in a news release issued yesterday, concluding with: "Heath Ledger is now in Hell and has begun serving his eternal sentence?beside which, nothing else about Heath Ledger is relevant or consequential." Ledger was nominated for an Academy Award in 2005 for his role as a gay cowboy in the Ang Lee directed film Brokeback Mountain, based on a short story by E. Annie Proulx. "Heath Ledger thought it was great fun defying God Almighty and his plain word," the statement from Westboro read. "God hates the sordid tacky, bucket of slime sea...

Fred Phelps Is One Sick Mofo
2008-01-25 02:52:00 WARNING: THIS VIDEO IS INDESCRIBABLY OFFENSIVE.(It took me several minutes to realize Mr. Phelps was saying "Fag Enablers" and not "Faggy Neighbors." By the way, Fred Phelps takes it in the ass on a daily basis. From a Jewish Mexican. Just thought I'd tell you.)

"The Fred Phelps of 1000 BC" :)
2007-12-11 22:38:00 A commenter to a post called The Church of Hate at Pharyngula wrote: Deuteronomy orders that disobedient children be taken to the city gate and stoned to death. Sounds pretty drastic and these days that would get you a long jail sentence. What struck me as odd, no one has ever found piles of ...

Fred Phelps And Family Go Down HARD — Jury Awards $11M To Father Of S
2007-11-01 16:34:00 My first reaction to the breaking news of the jury’s award against the disgusting Westboro Baptist crew who goes around to the funerals of our fallen troops, protesting during the personal, private, heartbroken moment when the families and friends of our slain G.I.’s somberly attend to the task of planting their loved one in the ...
Suck On That, Fred Phelps
2007-11-01 15:58:00 A judge in Maryland has ordered that the Westboro Baptist Cult must pay the father of a fallen Marine $10.9 million for protesting at his son’s funeral. As far as their picketing goes, they want to do it in front of a courthouse, they want to do it in a public park, I could care less. ...
Update: Fred Phelps and The Westboro Baptist Church Hit with $11 million F
2007-11-01 12:58:00 I was going to write the headline as “God Hates Fred Phelps,” but no, I don’t think he does. I think He loves him like a father loves his son that embarrasses him constantly and frequently hurts him. I think God wants Fred Phelps to stop what he is doing. I think ...
Westboro Baptist Church Ordered to pay $10.9 to Father of Slain Soldier
2007-11-01 07:25:00 Ok, well the Westboro “Baptist Church” (a disgrace to the Baptist name and the Christian churches of America) is in the news yet again. Al Snyder, father of slain Lance Corporal Matthew Snyder sued the church for protesting at his son’s funeral with slogans such as “God Hates Fags,” “Thank God for Dead Soldiers” and ...
Defendant: Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church
2007-10-29 14:57:00 I hope they lose everything they have: The family of a Marine killed in Iraq has sued a Baptist church for picketing their son’s funeral and is turning to the Internet to drum up support. Albert Snyder, the father of fallen Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, took the stand this week in the Baltimore trial against the Westboro ...
Brain Dead Moronic Frog Turd Suckers
2007-10-25 04:30:00 OK. The title of this post doesn't render true justice as to how I really feel about the the fraud preacher known by Pastor Fred Phelps of the alleged Westboro Baptist Church. Fred Phelps is a pastor of a church but it certainly is NOT a "Godly" congregation. I wouldn't be surprised if they sacrificed chickens and drank the blood of dead chickens. Hell...I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't kill the chickens first. This group of hedonistic fools and foul birds besmirch the very name of Jesus Christ. This jerk needs to have some Prairie Justice rendered and ITS congregation placed in stockades, beaten within an inch of their lives and then soaked in a concoction of wine vinegar, sulfur and salt. Then, the pain should begin and rendered by the families of slain and wounded heroes.Caning would be a good start...beginning with the soles of their feet.Cat-o-nine tails would be next...applied ever so forcefully upon the fleshy parts of their backsides. EMTs would be present to...

Freethinker Sunday Sermonette: Fred Phelps comes to town [Effect Measure]
2007-08-11 09:25:00 Everyone knows Fred Phelps is a vile, obnoxious, cruel and probably psychopathic Christofascist (one of the well known subdivisions of the worldwide fascist movement, which includes Islamofascists, Judeofascists, Hindufascists and many other religiofascists; it is an ecumenical movement, which even includes godless fascists like Christopher Hitchens). For those of you lucky enough never to have heard of him, Phelps is pastor of the notorious Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, famous for picketing the funerals of Iraqi war soldiers with the claim that they died because the military tolerates homosexuality. He makes the same claim about 9/11: it was God’s vengeance on a gay-tolerant America. And now he is making his way to Minnesota: Read the rest of this post… | Read the comments on this post… Original post by http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/-ScienceblogsCombinedFeed/~3/143-051727/freethinker_sunday_sermo-nette_59.php
Fred Phelps: The Early Years
2007-05-05 00:00:00 This from the June 11, 1951 edition of Time magazine: Five-year-old John Muir College at Pasadena (enrollment: 2,000) has no more than the average quota of campus sin. But to Fred Phelps, 21, a tall (6 ft. 3 in.), craggy-faced...

Thought of the day : 44 : Fred Phelps : Controversial Church Leader
2007-04-27 06:11:00 Dear Readers Since when is it not OK to voice an unpopular opinion in America? I certainly can agree with Fred Phelps and his family, he speaks his mind and does not back down because most others disagree with him. That is what the Freedom of Speech is all about! We don’t need the Freedom of ...
Sheldon just may be to the right of Fred Phelps on the marriage 'issue'
2007-03-08 05:57:01 In response to the news that the Alliance for Marriage -- the organization that has written the language and backed the failed pushes for a so-called "Federal Marriage Amendment" -- is planning to refocus its efforts on getting marriage bans passed at the state level, the Traditional Values Coalition's Louis Sheldon has this to say: ?The Alliance for Marriage gets it half-right when they defend marriage,?... ?But then they go on to talk about the ?right? to civil unions. No true pro-marriage, religious conservative agrees with that. ?This is the same approach which some well-intentioned people tried in Massachusetts with disastrous results. Civil unions are synonymous with homosexual marriage and to see them as some sort of compromise is delusional and naive. ?The Alliance for Marriage should either renounce its past support for civil unions or stay in Washington where its amendment has always been and will continue to be a non-starter. True grassroots religious conservative act...

Why nothing from the left about Fred Phelps?
0000-00-00 00:00:00 In looking at this offering from Little Green Footballs, as regards the Gathering Of Eagles stumbling across the Fred Phelps Nutballs, I'm reminded of something I thought of a couple of months ago, and for some reason didn't write down at the time.
