Pro Bowl Live Blog, Fred Taylor Edition! Coming Soon!
2008-02-10 22:00:00 I know, nobody watches the Pro Bowl. But I'm going to live blog the whole thing, cause Fred Taylor is there, and it's just the right thing to do. So if you're interested, stick around, I'll start at 4:30!
FRED TAYLOR PRO BOWL !!!
2008-02-08 22:03:00 First off, this makes my head hurt... Peyton Manning handing off to Fred Taylor!!!???!! No, I didn't forget, it's just that the Pro Bowl as an event and an experience is completely off my radar. I appreciate the honor that Fred's got, but as for actually following the game, I just can't get into it. But, if you're curious, here's a few links about Fred's experience in Hawai'i. The Honolulu Advertiser discusses how Fred Taylor and Linebacker Mike Vrabel are the two players this week who have had the longest wait to get to the Pro Bowl. In this New University Online essay Tyler Davis discusses his development as a fan of Fred Taylor through a "rookie card". It's worth a read: Amazingly, watching Taylor play was as euphoric as I could have imagined. Picasso couldn't have appreciated art the way I appreciated watching Taylor run with the football. He was always the sharpest, fastest, quickest and most agile player on the field. I couldn't even sleep on Saturday n...

Fred Taylor: NFL All Pro
2008-01-10 01:09:00 Fred Taylor's having a pretty good week. First he's officially named to the Pro Bowl and today we've found that he's been voted to the NFL All-Pro Team. He's on the second team, behind LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook, and joined by Adrian Peterson. Not a bad quartet of Running Backs. Of course, Fred could probably care less, as he's one of those guys that's completely focused on this weeks Playoff game. I'm glad to see Fred finally get the national recognition that he deserves, and anything to improve his Hall of Fame resume is fine by me. -Chris
Time to Rest: Fred Taylor, Earnest Graham, Aaron Stecker
2007-12-27 17:53:00 If your league is insane enough to hold the championship during Week 17, you're probably tearing your hair out trying to deal with it. Any player on a team that has clinched a playoff spot is likely to be rested for at least a half, if not the entire game. Here are a few running backs that I've read are going to be rested this weekend. Earnest Graham, Tampa Bay - Look for a lot of Michael Pittman. I may be the first person to ever say that. Reggie Bush / Aaron Stecker, New Orleans - There's no reason for the Saints to rush back their #1 RB this week. Or Bush either. Look for Pierre Thomas to see most of the work. Najeh Davenport, Pittsburgh - Do you think the Steelers are going to risk going into the playoffs with his backup? His backup being...uh...let me look this up. Uh... Verron Haynes. Or possibly rookie Gary Russell? No, me neither. Fred Taylor / Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville - Jones-Drew should see more than Taylo...

Fred Taylor: Pro Bowl Bound after all...
2007-12-21 05:49:00 In what can only be described as a terrible way to go to Hawaii, Fred Taylor will in fact be in this year's Pro Bowl. Willie Parker broke his fibula against the Rams tonight, which should mean that he stays home for the Pro Bowl. Fred, as the first alternate, joins Greg Jones, who's also going to the Pro Bowl as an alternate due to a leg injury. It seems pretty weird that all of a sudden big name athletes are breaking their Fibula. Jeremy Shockey and now Willie Parker, that's a rough deal. Especially for the Steelers who have somewhat degraded over the last few weeks. They even had to survive a shootout with the Rams. But, that aside, Fred will make his trip to Hawaii. More "Raiders" Focus tomorrow. -Chris
Fred Taylor Could get his First Pro Bowl Appearance
2007-12-21 02:53:00 The Pittsburgh Steelers RB, Willie Parker suffered a broken leg on tonight's SECOND play of the game. The Steelers defeated the St. Louis Rams 41-24. Pittsburgh suffered a HUGE blow losing Parker to injury, and he could miss the rest of the season (including the playoffs). Parker, who

Simply put, Fred Taylor deserves to be in the Pro Bowl
2007-12-21 00:19:00 Even though we just had our Pro Bowl Snubs post, I would like to specifically look at one of those snubs in Fred Taylor and break down his case as to why he should playing in Hawaii in February. Is this 2007 or 1997? You would think it would be '97 with the way Fred Taylor is playing this season. Taylor has been very productive this season, especially the last 4 games.Taylor has put up 1,091 yards rushing on 216 carries, with a 5.1 avg. His last 4 games have been phenomenal, 487 yards, 71 carries, 6.8 avg. Taylor also has the AFC's two longest TD runs of 80 and 76 yards.Taylor is 6th in the league in rushing. Willie Parker has 104 more carries than Taylor but still only had 226 more yards. Joseph Addai has more carries and still less yards than Taylor. Taylor still had Maurice Jones-Drew on his team and Parker and Addai are by themselves. Some can say what did Taylor do the first half of the season? But just look at Addai's last 6 games:Last Six Games:Taylor: 617 yards, 107 carrie...

2007 Pro Bowl Roster: No Jaguars, Fred Taylor First Alternate.
2007-12-18 22:26:00 Update [2007-12-18 20:25:20 by River City Rage]:: Jagnation has the right idea: Update [2007-12-18 18:13:41 by River City Rage]:: I'm hearing that Lorenzo Neal won't be able to go to the Pro Bowl, making Full Back Greg Jones Jacksonville's representative in Hawaii. I just checked and Lorenzo Neal has a broken right fibula, and is out for the season. I'd assume that he'll miss the Pro Bowl while he recovers. Update [2007-12-18 17:0:1 by River City Rage]:: I added the AFC Pro Bowl Roster, so you can be outraged too. From Jaguars.com Fred Taylor's quest to play in the Pro Bowl will now depend on one of the AFC's three elected running backs to opt out of the game. For the second consecutive year, Taylor was named first alternate at running back for the AFC Pro Bowl team. Willie Parker of the Steelers, LaDainian Tomlinson of the Chargers and Joseph Addai of the Colts are the three running backs selected to the AFC Pro Bowl team. If any of the three elects not to play in...
Fred Taylor: 10,000 yards, 10,000 thanks... [UPDATED]
2007-12-18 19:58:00 Fred Taylor: The Man, The legend, the Hall of Famer? Update [2007-12-18 13:58:48 by River City Rage]: I know this is old, but with the PRO BOWL announcement today, I wanted to bring up our hero, Fred Taylor, for some extra attention. Not that it matters at this point, but Hawaii or not, he's still having a career year. I adjusted the "stats" to reflect where he stands today. We witnessed history on 1st and 10 yesterday. You might have noticed it because it was a bit of a big deal. Fred Taylor ran for 15 yards early in the first quarter. Just like that, almost straight up the middle, ended up on the Tennessee 42 yard line. With that run came a piece of NFL history. We witnessed Fred Taylor rise from being a great running back to a legendary one. Fred Taylor is the best player to ever wear the Jaguars uniform. He's spent ten years in the league after attending the University of Florida. (Sociology Major, in case you're...
Jaguars Defeat Steelers: Fred Taylor, Maurice Jones-Drew, and David Garard
2007-12-17 06:37:00 Here are your Players Post-Game Quotes! Maurice Jones-Drew What a great rushing day out there for you and Fred Taylor today? Our offensive line did a great job today; you guys should really be talking to them. They did the work and we just found the holes. David (Garrard) did a great job protecting the ball and we went out there and came up with a victory. How was it with the weather out there? Was it rough? No, it's all in your mind. Obviously with the wind blowing it is harder to throw the ball but we were able to throw it a little bit. When plays were needed we were able to make plays. You and Fred Taylor seemed to be switching up effectively. Did you guys have a rhythm today? He did a great job today. We kept communicating on and off the field. When I came off I would tell him what I saw and when he came off he would tell me what he saw. You guys had a lot of success on fourth down today. How did that inspire your offense? That definitely gives your offense more motivatio...
Fred Taylor Needs Some Love
2007-12-17 00:11:00 Get my boy to Honolulu! Now that my family lives near Jacksonville, I'm in a new sports town for the first time in my life (if you can call Jacksonville a sports town). Despite the fact that the Jaguars are on a playoff run and could probably beat anyone right now, not too many people seem

Fred Taylor breaks 10,000 rushing yards
2007-11-13 16:00:00 Fred Taylor finally breaks 10,000 rushing yards. He is included now in a group of only 21 players in the NFL history to have achieved this. Way to go Big Fred. There have been a lot of numbers crunched and records broken lately it seems. Someone 5 Zoom(s) |
