Golf: A Good Drive Gets You to Canada
2011-07-13 16:48:00 A ten-hour road trip from New York to New Brunswick, Canada to play golf and experience differences in culture had the makings of a fun adventure but is this foreign country really foreign? Driving through Maine past border crossing into Atlantic Canada was exciting as I have never experienced leaving the U.S.A. by automobile. The scenery is beautiful yet monotonous on both sides of the border and there aren't many exits along the way. Even my GPS periodically lost its signal until it closed in on the City of Fredericton. Crowne Plaza Lord Beaverbrook Hotel I felt relieved to finally arrive at our destination, the Crowne Plaza Lord Beaverbrook, a business hotel with comfortable amenities located near legislative buildings, museums and lots of outdoor dining; free concerts are also provided during the season. The Changing of the Guard, a twice-daily Canadian event, occurs right down the street and I was disappointed that my schedule did not permit me time to exp...

Fredericton Family Events Calendar (Fredkid)
2008-10-14 17:17:00 If your a parent in the Greater Fredericton area, you've no doubt heard of the cool site FredKid.com. In addition to many cool activities and listings on this site. One of the best parts is undoubly the Events calendar, which is updated on a regular basis with lots of fun family events going on the in Fredericton area for you and your kids. On of the 'drawbacks' however is you have to constantly check the site for calendar updates. So I emailed their web master for a requst to allow users to add these events to their favorite calendar automatically. I have, as of yet, got a reply :-(. However, I was able to find a nice work around to the problem, and have sucessfully created a google calendar of Fredericton events that is automatically updated whenever the FredKid.com calendar is updated. You can find it at the link below and use the "Add to Google Calendar" link at the bottom to add it to you Google Calendar. Or if you want you can add it to your favorite calendar...

Fredericton - The intelligent city
2008-01-16 18:51:00 Fredericton is in the top 7 cities in the world to be considered for "most intelligent city". It seems most of it has to do with our awesome and free WiFi network infrasture that is in place. I remember when I was visited at my company to donate to the WiFi network. Initially, there was no gaurenteee it would actually be connected to the internet. At the time, I didn't really see much point in a WiFi network with no internet access. Of course, it does have internet access and it works great, I wish it covered even more areas of the city. Fredericton, has also been making large strides in protecting the environment as well. We have a green parades, and recycle contests with local communities. We are also working to be the first city to meet Kytoto targets. I get the slight feeling this sounded life an after thought, but I think it is also important to mention. Read More...
Fredericton Bus Route on Google
2007-12-07 18:15:00 Fredericton Transit has added bus schedule information to google maps. So you can easily get bus directions in Freddy Beach from Google. It's even possible to see the bus route via satellite image. Sometimes it even shows the cost savings from taking the bus via driving which was pretty cool. However, like other Google Maps directions, I found some of it a bit misleading. For example, the walking directions to the nearest bus stop were not correct. I know the bus travels down my street, but it suggested I walk to another street to catch the bus. Unless they are moving my route maybe? Enjoy.Read More...

No Autism Just Fredericton In May
2007-05-23 02:37:00 It was a beautiful May day in Fredericton. A perfect day to do a bridge walk, from Westorland Street Bridge, along the Saint John River, across the pedestrian bridge, (former train bridge) through the down town, across the Westmorland Street Bridge and home to Nashwaaksis on the North side of Fredericton. But who let that Blogger into the picture? |
