Texas Polygamists Lack Freedom Of Choice
2008-05-11 16:17:00 I must admit when it comes to the polyamory world I tend to be a bit on the somewhat clueless side. It’s not because I don’t know about the world of polyamorous lifestyle, but because I can’t imagine myself being with more than one mate/girlfriend in my life. But there are couples, Christian or otherwise, ...
Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act: Thank You Michele Bachmann
2008-04-11 21:21:00 Michele Backmann, Republican from Minnesota, finally brought some sanity into Congress. In 2011, the Edison Light Bulb will be banned due to environmentalist lunatics taking over Washington. Many of us know that this is a terrible idea because: 1) We could all stop using Light Bulbs entirely and it would not change the temperature of the Earth; and 2) Al Gore's light bulbs have mercury in them.... One Win for Freedom of Choice
2008-02-21 14:00:00 Today, we get a little good news for a change. A teacher in the Vancouver Public School district in Vancouver, Washington has won the right in court to distribute her union dues to a charity instead of wasting them by being forced to pay them to the union. Wiggs, a teacher at Jason Lee Middle School, has been embroiled in a two-year dispute with the teachers union about where to direct her dues. Two years ago, Wiggs withdrew from the union as a religious objector. “They were taking political stands that I cannot support, considering my faith,” Wiggs, a Christian, said in March. “They were coming out in favor of abortion and homosexual rights. I didn’t want to support them with my dues.” So, the law in Washington State says that a union objector may submit their dues to a charity. So, what the heck is she in court for? Well here is where the typically ignorant, meddlesome, non-democratic unions indulged in their typical nonsense. State law requires t...

Obama Defends Freedom of Choice in Health Care Reform
2008-02-01 23:45:00 Many on the left claim there is not much difference between Obama and Clinton’s policy views, but there are differences which explain why Obama has the support of many libertarians while Clinton never will. While I think it is an exaggeration to label Obama a left-libertarian as some have, there are significant differences between Obama ...

DEVO - ?Freedom of Choice?

Freedom of Choice Act Would Invalidate Abortion Law
2007-04-29 22:02:00 The day after the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the federal ban on partial-birth abortions, liberal Democrats in Congress reintroduced the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA). FOCA would eliminate all state and federal abortion laws. The federal Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act just upheld by the Court would be nullified. States that require parental consent or ...
Freedom Of Choice
2005-12-14 04:08:00 New drug acts as marijuana in the brain (UPI) Now this is interesting stuff. According to a study at McGill University in Canada, a new drug called URB597 has an impressive anti-depressant effect. It works by raising the brain's levels of endocannabinoids. Translation: It's kind of like smoking up. Lead investigator Dr. Gabriella Gotti was very much encouraged by the results. The results were similar to the effect we might expect from the use of commonly prescribed antidepressants, which are effective on only around 30 percent of the population....Our discovery strengthens the case for URB597 as a safer, non-addictive, non-psychotropic alternative to cannabis for the treatment of pain and depression. If she is implying that this is more effective than traditional anti-depressants, then this is big news for sure. What makes it even bigger news is that the study says it might be a safer alternative to medical marijuana. Somewhere, I can hear a NORML rep crying. I've really... |
