AFL Game of the Week: Desperados at Soul
2008-04-30 00:24:00
=AFL Game of the Week: Desperados at Soul=It's back!!! I finally decided to write another "AFL Game of the Week" article, mainly because I witnessed a "Battle of the Undefeateds" last night. Usually when two undefeated teams meet, we see a shootout. But, last night proved different. The 8-0

Internet Game of the Week: Wii Shaft
2007-12-17 10:00:00
Wii Shaft was created long before the Wii API (the thing that makes internet games compatible with the wiimote) was released. That said, this game is incredibly simple, but at the time, quite cool. You control a small square as it tries … Original post by Josh (josh60502)
Saturday night showdown: Unbeaten Jackets host Eagles
2007-09-13 13:30:00
Story by Patrick Hite accnationpatrick@comcast.net  A 20-point win over N.C. State Saturday was enough to move Boston College into the Top 25. But it wasn’t a No.-21 ranking that got the attention of Georgia Tech, which hosts the undefeated Eagles Saturday night.  “No, 2-0 gets their attention,” Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey said of his players. “Scoring 38 and 37 back-to-back gets their attention. ...

The Game of the Week: Virginia Tech at LSU Story by Patrick Hite accnationpatrick@comcast.net  (Read our Virginia Tech preview) Les Miles can sympathize with Virginia Tech. Two years ago, just before Miles? debut as head coach at LSU, Hurricane Katrina devastated Louisiana. That season, it seemed as if the Tigers were not only playing for themselves and their fans, but ...
Hokies look to get train back on track

The Game of the Week: Virginia Tech at LSU Story by Chris Graham accnationchris@comcast.net (Read our LSU preview) Sometimes coaches engage in what sportswriters like to call “coach’s speak” - whereby they make a Division II also-ran sound like the Pittsburgh Steelers of the 1970s or the San Francisco 49ers of the ’80s and ’90s. But don’t mistake Virginia Tech ...
Game of the Week: Virginia Tech at LSU
2007-09-06 16:10:00
So … what do the experts think?    Chris’ Pick: LSU 20, Virginia Tech 3 I worry about Virginia Tech here - especially after seeing the Hokies’ O line struggle mightily trying to block ECU last week and seeing Sean Glennon look like a deer in headlights (again). I’m not sure that it’s going to get that much better ...

The Game of the Week: Wake Forest at Boston College Story by Patrick Hite accnationpatrick@comcast.net (Also read our Wake preview and See which team Patrick and Chris think will win the Game of the Week) Finally. Ever since Tom O’Brien headed south for North Carolina State after last season, Boston College has had to deal with coaching questions. Who would take over for O’Brien ...
Game of the Week: Wake Forest at Boston College
2007-08-30 15:55:00
So … who wins the Game of the Week? Let’s turn to our experts …      Chris’ Pick: Boston College 24, Wake Forest 20  I’m not among those who see BC winning the ACC this year, so I’ll make that clear here at the outset. And I think Wake is getting a tad bit less respect than a defending league ...

Game of the Week #22
2007-06-27 21:54:00
A bit lite just like the other weekly entries, but here it is nonetheless: another new Game of the Week feature! In case you didn't know - every week I write up an entry about the games I played in the past week. Out of all those games one ends up receiving the title of Game of the Week. So if you're interested in knowing what this blogger played in the past week, in between writing blog posts then please do read on!Week #22(June 18th - June 27th)I finally got some more gaming time in again, so there's a bunch to talk about this week. That said, I still haven't booted up Guild Wars: Nightfall at all this week, so it looks like that one will stay out of the picture for the moment. Of course Unreal Tournament 2004 was featured heavily again this week and I got some more time in on those two browser based games of last week. New additions were some hours of Sword of the New World - as well as a lot of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - both games currently featuring 'public' beta test...

Here's a new Game of the Week feature once more! In case you didn't know - every week I write up an entry about the games I played in the past week. Out of all those games one ends up receiving the title of Game of the Week. So if you're interested in knowing what this blogger played in the past week, in between writing blog posts then please do read on!Week #16 (May 6th - May 13th)There was a lot more gaming action this week than last. That's not to say I've played a wide variety of games, but I've certainly played them quite a bit this week. As always there was - quite a bit of - Unreal Tournament 2004 gaming being done and I even continued playing Guild Wars: Nightfall some more. Lastly I got some more time in with Neverwinter Nights custom modules - finally finishing up on a module I started playing in late March: Aribeth's Redemption 2! Yarr, finally something new to talk about! Most of my gaming fun this week came from Unreal Tournament 2004 - as usual. After playing ab...

Out of all those games one ends up receiving the title of Game of the Week. So if you're interested in knowing what this blogger played in the past week, in between writing blog posts then please do read on!Week #15 (April 30th - May 6th)This week hasn't been filled with a wide variety of different games, much like the previous week. Fortunately I did play some of them old favorites, so I can talk about my experiences with those instead! Yet again I played a bunch of Unreal Tournament 2004 games as well as some more Guild Wars: Nightfall. I didn't bother with any other games this week, but I intend to get back onto playing Neverwinter Nights mods again, as well as perhaps some of those strategy games I bought recently (Company of Heroes, Command & Conquer 3, Heroes of Might & Magic V). So who knows, maybe next week will featur...

So if you're interested in knowing what this blogger played in the past week, in between writing blog posts then please do read on!Week #14 (April 22nd - April 30th)Yeah... this entry is a day late, but I do have a new game to talk about, yay! As you might expect I've played some more Unreal Tournament 2004 this week - but then, when don't I play that game!? I haven't gotten a mass of other games to talk about unfortunately - just two, of which I've played only one! These two games are Heroes of Might & Magic V and Guild Wars: Nightfall. As for which one I played and which one I didn't, you'll just have to read on and find out for yourself! Oh and no - I don't have the same game of the week as the past couple of weeks... Finally something new! This wee...
Game of the Week Addendum: Opening Day
2007-04-04 02:10:00
A few points I that didn’t make my report from yesterday’s game at Yankee Stadium: Guilty Thought of the Day: Usually, the Yankees punctuate their Opening Day extravaganzas with some aerial pyrotechnics–a flyby by the Blue Angels, fly-in by Challenger the Bald Eagle, stuff like that. I thought I’d missed it this time out, and couldn’t figure out how–maybe I was inside the stadium trying to get to my seats when it happened?–until the video tribute to Corey Lidle started. Then I started thinking that maybe, with Lidle’s widow and son in attendance, someone figured that it wouldn’t be a good time for low-altitude stunt aviation. Not good times. Best Moment of the Day: With not only Lidle, but remembrances for Bowie Kuhn and Hank Bauer at the beginning of the program, things were pretty somber at the Stadium to start the day. So when the Stadium video screen started on a tribute to Bobby Murcer, who was diagnosed with brain cancer le...
Game of the Week #10
2007-04-03 19:32:00
I play various games all the time - and every week I'll pick out one game that I found particularly enjoyable or impressive, that game will become the Game of the Week. In this entry I'll look back on the various games I played in the past week and one of those games will be that Game of the Week. It's a bit late again, but certainly packed with a wide variety of games!Week #10 (March 25th - April 3rd)In the past 9 days I've finally obtained my copy of Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and even organized a small LAN party in my room with some friends. As in recent weeks, Unreal Tournament 2004 seems to have taken a backseat, although I still played it for a bit. Certainly most of my time went into playing Tiberium Wars, in which I've managed to get to the final act of the GDI campaign. I also got around to playing some Nox and Guild Wars: Nightfall - but more about that below...On Saturday my sister organized a very late birthday party for herself. This meant that a bunch of o...
Game of the Week #9
2007-03-25 09:33:00
I play various games all the time - and every week I'll pick out one game that I found particularly enjoyable or impressive, that game will become the Game of the Week. In this entry I'll look back on the various games I played in the past week and one of those games will be that Game of the Week. It's a day late, but I really wanted to include some more CnC3 demo gameplay as well, so here it is!Week #9 (March 17th - March 25th)This week was slightly unusual, because I barely played any Unreal Tournament 2004 - contrary to the previous weeks. What I didn't get in terms of UT2004 gameplay I've made up for in Neverwinter Nights: Aribeth's Redemption and Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars demo gameplay. I'll see about uploading my thoughts on CnC3 later today, but for now you can check out my opinion on Aribeth's Redemption here. Anyway, on to the weekly recap!I've managed to finish the Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark campaign with my lawful good Paladin. The final...

In this entry I'll look back on the various games I played in the past week and one of those games will be that Game of the Week.Week #8 (March 12th - March 17th)I've played several different games this week - namely Unreal Tournament 2004 and Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark. I also fired up Guild Wars: Nightfall - which I've recently purchased - for a bit, but haven't really gotten around to playing it yet. I'm currently really focusing on finishing the final Neverwinter Nights expansion pack so that received most of my attention this week, although I got a bit of UT2004 playtime in as well. Anyway, on to the weekly recap...I played Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark in an attempt to finally finish the entire Neverwinter Nights storyline. I had already finished the original campaign and Sh...

In this entry I'll look back on the various games I played in the past week and one of those games will be that Game of the Week.Week #7 (March 3rd - March 12th)I've played several different games this week - namely the CnC3 demo, Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, Unreal Tournament & Unreal Tournament 2004. That's a lot of different games compared to previous weeks, but UT2004 received most of my attention as always. Anyway, on to the weekly recap...I played the Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars demo yet again, but not too much. I did watch the awesome Epileptic Gaming episode with special information on CnC3 and that's got me pumped for the real game, which should be arriving on the 29th of March (26th in North America). I'm really looking forward to trying out the Scrin, it'll be a close call between the GDI and S...
Game of the Week #6

I play various games all the time - and every week I'll pick out one game that I found particularly enjoyable or impressive, that game will become the Game of the Week. In this entry I'll look back on the various games I played in the past week and one of those games will be that Game of the Week.Week #6 (February 24th - March 3rd)I've played two different games this week - namely Unreal Tournament 2004 and of course the brand new Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars demo. I will post up my impressions of the C&C3 demo later on in an in-depth article, but I'll also cover a bit of the game in this entry. Anyway, please do read on...I've spend most of this week playing Unreal Tournament 2004 TAM (Team Arena Master - a very popular mod) on public servers. In fact, I've only had a single clan match this week with beMEAN, one of the two clans I'm a member of. We had to play against Lethal for some sort of TAM cup, but as usual we had a very hard time finding members willing to p...
Game of the Week #5
2007-02-24 21:28:00
I play various games every week - and each week I'll pick out one game that I found particularly enjoyable or impressive, that game will become the Game of the Week. In this entry I'll look back on the various games I played in the past week and one of those games will be that Game of the Week.Week #5 (February 17th - February 24th)I haven't played many different games this week. In fact, I've only actually played two games this week - namely the Supreme Commander demo and Unreal Tournament 2004. This means that the Game of the Week will have to be a game I've already featured before. Not that that's a bad thing, there's still plenty to tell...I've had my reasons for playing each... I wanted to try the Supreme Commander demo again because I had been given a hint that it didn't support hardware audio rendering properly which dragged the framerate down. And indeed, when I ran the game without sound (by adding " /nosound" to the shortcut icon's target line) performance increa...
Most Dramatic Game of the Weekend? A High School Game
2006-12-02 16:00:12
Ohio State-Michigan? Dallas-Indy? Forget that. The pigskin game of the week without a doubt was the Bothell-Pasco 4A high school football game in Washington. This Saturday, Bothell defeated Pasco 43-40 in a 9 overtime game! The 9 overtimes tied a national record, and here is a recap of each overtime period:High-school overtime rules call for the teams to exchange possessions starting at the opponents' 25-yard line. Starting in the third OT, each team gets the ball at the 10.In the first OT, both teams kicked field goals. In the second, Bothell went four-and-out, but Pasco fumbled. In the third, Bothell's defense stuffed Pasco twice from inside the 2. On its turn, Bothell fumbled. In the fourth and fifth, more field goals. In the sixth, after Bothell failed to score, Pasco's kicker, Kelly, missed a chip-shot field goal.In the seventh, Kelly hit Perez for a 10-yard TD. On Bothell's turn, third-string running back Robert Schaefer scored from the 2 on fourth-and-goal. In the eigh...
