Attitude Adjustments, du Jour

?Goaltending is a normal job, sure. How would you like it in your job if every time you made a small mistake, a red light went on over your desk and 15,000 people stood up and yelled at you.? – Jacques Plante Pride is good in small doses, but never something to depend on. With last ...
Broken Down Bandwagon comes to a screeching halt!
2008-06-05 07:54:00
It is no secret as to who has been the favourite team of most NHL fans during the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Pittsburgh Penguins have become the darlings of this year?s playoffs, which has prompted many to jump on their bandwagon. Boasting intriguing youth such as Sidney Crosby, Evgeny Malkin and Marc-Andre Fleury, it is easy for fans, especially young ones, to get caught up in the hype associated with this young and offensively gifted team.
Penguins-Flyers Storylines
2008-05-05 12:06:00
Now that the Pittsburgh Penguins have defeated the New York Rangers, we can all focus on the Eastern conference final between the Pens and the Philadelphia Flyers. For those of you seeking storylines for the series, let me be of assistance of what you will hear from sportscasters and writers over the next week.Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are both located in Pennsylvania, or some variation of this such as the battle of Pennsylvania or the Keystone State rivalry. Let?s face it: this is truly a battle between fans that choose pop versus fans who say soda.In the Eastern conference semi-finals, Jordan Staal of the Penguins defeated his older brother Marc Staal of the Rangers. Jordan Staal has no siblings on the Flyers. (Or does he? [dramatic pause] No he does not.)The Flyers? R.J. Umberger is the Pittsburgh area. Specifically, Umberger is from Plum, which was on of the high schools that my high school faced regularly in sporting events (the last part will not be mentioned during any ...
Gary Roberts performance against Senators same old, same old
2008-04-10 15:46:00
From the morning-after-the-night-before- department of hindsight and what-ifs, the Ottawa Senators probably could have saved themselves a whole lot of hassle, not to mention a few early vacations, had they simply traded for Gary Roberts, say, half a dozen years ago. Just in case you think you have seen this movie before, relax. You are not losing your mind.Once again, Gary Roberts looks to lead his Toronto Maple Leafs Pittsburgh Penguins past Ottawa, a one-man wrecking crew who seems to have far too much fun helping the Senators book premature tee times. It's getting to the point where Ottawa head honcho Eugene Melnyk must have nightmares about this guy. After one night of tormenting his nemesis yet again, Roberts is one goal shy of his season total. And haven't we heard that Roberts would be an ideal sleeper pick before?Perhaps Roberts, pushing his 42nd birthday, just doesn't like the city, the team, the jersey. Whatever it is, his disdain is pretty obvious once the win-or-go-home ...

Roberts, Hall, Malkin & Jagr, the Penguins, Danis, and Rivers
2007-09-26 03:34:00
Will the Penguins try to re-sign Gary Roberts? Is Adam Hall going to stick with the Penguins? Are the Penguins considering a Evgeni Malkin for Jaromir Jagr swap with the Rangers? Do the Penguins need to get a winger for Sidney Crosby? Will the Canadiens' Yann Danis and Jamie Rivers get claimed off waivers?
Gary Roberts To Pittsburgh?
2007-02-27 11:01:01
It’s been known for a while now that Jacques Martin has been speaking to players with expiring contracts about returning next season but will not issue extensions to those players. He will however do his best to take them off the trade market. There have been rumors swirling around veterans Gary Roberts, Gelinas, Jozef Stumpel and Ed Belfour about being moved by Tuesday’s deadline. All four have contracts that expire at the end of the season. It looks like Jacques might already have a deal in place. Per Bob McKenzie’s TSN article… Sources tell TSN the Florida Panthers have agreed to a trade involving Gary Roberts and have asked him to waive his no trade clause. But sources say the deal is not with Toronto or Ottawa, the only two teams Roberts has said he will go to. So at this point, the ball is in Roberts’ court, but there is no guarantee he will waive the clause. The team sources believe the Panthers have a deal in place with is Pittsburgh. Whi...
