Video from the Lexus Display @ the 2008 Geneva Auto Show
2008-03-08 03:26:00 There may not be anything new to see from the Lexus presence at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show, but this video gives a nice and funky recap of the booth, including a very neat LS 600h information display: Really, this just makes me even more disappointed that the LF-A Roadster Concept didn’t make its way to the Toronto Auto Show I attended a couple weeks back.

Rolls-Royce To Reveal Phantom Coupe at Geneva

For some reason, it always seemed to have a lot of British involvement; like they were trying to show the boys on the continent what the Brits could do, maybe it has something to do with Swiss neutrality, I don’t know. At any rate, Roll Royce has ...

2008 Geneva Auto Show: Morgan LifeCar Concept
2008-02-17 16:05:00 British automaker Morgan is aiming to put some entertainment value into alternatively-fuelled vehicles. They announced yesterday that a concept called the LifeCar would be launched at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show in March. It's goal? Demonstrating that a zero-emission vehicle can be fun to drive. The LifeCar is powered by a fuel-cell hybrid powertrain that boasts a 200-mile range. A fuel cell works by taking stored hydrogen and converting it into two simple components- electricity and water vapour. The electricity is used to propel the vehicle by way of electric motors, and the water vapour is expelled as exhaust. The technology is proven to work- though a lack of infrastructure for fuelling is a major challenge.Morgan says that the combination of the LifeCar's performance, range, and fuel economy will give a sporting driver of the future the ability to demonstrate a concern for the environment. It also makes an interesting styling statement, featuring an interesting architecture enable...

Artega GT - Geneva Auto Show
2007-03-23 21:15:00 I certainly wouldn’t call this a most original design, but it sure is beautiful. 2007 Geneva Auto Show Wrap: beON Concept Aims To Fix "Unappealing" Image of
2007-03-16 15:26:00 GENEVA ? The class assignment was intriguing: Start with the premise that hybrid vehicles have a "somewhat unappealing image" and come up with a vehicle that is more "emotional" than intellectual. The result is the beON hybrid, which made its debut at this month's Geneva auto show. The beON is the brainchild of students at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) of Turin, Italy. They were directed by Luca Borgogno, a Pininfarina designer, and Carsten Astheimer, head of design at the Brunswick Boat Group. The beON is a two-seat off-road sports car with a sunroof. It is powered by a hybrid thermal-electric engine connected to a hydraulic transmission system located within each wheel hub. Its creators say this futuristic setup guarantees "excellent off-road performance" and also means traditional disc and caliper braking can be eliminated.

Geneva Auto Show: Maserati GranTurismo
2007-03-08 21:18:01 Maserati GranTurismo The Concept Maserati started as a racing car manufacturer in 1914. Starting from the chassis of a racing car, the A6, and further to the pressures of some customers, the company presented in 1947 at the Geneva Motorshow the A6 GranTurismo, styled by Pinin Farina. It was the first Maserati road car and was produced in 58 units. The car was acclaimed by the automotive press for its advanced technical content and for its avant-garde style solutions.Ten years later, in 1957, once again at the Geneva Motorshow, Maserati presented its first standard GranTurismo, the 3500 GT. This was the car that transformed Maserati in a road car manufacturer, where production of standard cars took priority over that of racing models. A total of 1983 units of the 3500GT were produced over seven years. To continue the tradition and celebrate the 60 year anniversary of the A6 as well as the 50 year anniversary of the 3500GT, Maserati debuts once again at the Geneva Motorshow with its ne...
2007 Geneva Auto Show - Toyota Hybrid X Concept
2007-03-08 21:18:01 GENEVA ? Earlier hybrids, such as the Honda Insight, were criticized for looking too much like science experiments. But that's not the case with the Toyota Hybrid X, a concept car unveiled on Tuesday at the Geneva auto show to herald the Japanese automaker's "new design language for hybrid models."The quirky four-passenger Hybrid X takes its name from two U shapes created by the vehicle's upper glass frame area and unusual A- and C-pillars. The shapes make a giant X when viewed from above. The overall shape of the Hybrid X is somewhat blobby, almost reminiscent of a bloated Toyota Matrix, with a narrow greenhouse and generous side panels.Unusual touches include headlights that are integrated into the dashboard and "are now part of the interior of the car," Toyota said. The automaker says the headlights are "intelligent" and "display graphic forms through animation." In the cabin, a perfume diffuser dispenses a "gentle, relaxing aroma," and the two rear seats swivel. Other multi-s...

(Photograph by Tim Bishop for Ford)Ford of Europe is bringing new products to the 2007 Geneva Auto Show which target two important trends in Europe ? the popularity of Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MAVs) and a growing taste for premium-styled vehicles.Ford of Europe saw improved sales last year, partly due to its new Ford S-MAX which was voted Car of the Year. This year the redesigned Ford C-MAX further broadens Ford's portfolio of MAVs, a segment that may outpace sedans in Europe by approximately 20 percent before the end of the decade. At the same time, European consumers are showing a preference for premium features and innovative technology in sedans, reflected in growing sales of German premium brands like BMW and Audi. At Geneva, Ford is unveiling its redesigned flagship Ford Mondeo which packs premium styl...
Concept cars in the Geneva auto show
2007-03-08 03:30:00 There are a lot of new concept cars in this year's 77th International Motor Show in Geneva. The car you see to the left is a Mazda Hakaze. It is a new concept car by Mazda that looks like it can go in mass production. I think that the designers at Mazda did a very good job with this concept, because not only is it stylish, but it also looks very useful and versatile. Mazda manged to combine some very stylish looks, that are highlighted by the Lamborghini style doors, with some very familiar to us features like the third row seats that fall forward to make more room. This car, with its rugged yet stylish design, will be one of the cars that we will see a lot from in the near future, at least that is what I think. If Mazda puts a reasonable price tag on this SUV I am sure that a lot of people will consider buying it, I know I will...Now lets take a look at the competition. This is a Assystem City Car. You can decide for yourself, but I think this is one of the worst looking cars of ...

Highlights From The Geneva Auto Show
2007-03-07 20:45:00 Yup the 2007 Geneva Auto Show is here, and all the buzz is on. I bet you are all wondering which car get all the attention. Well wonder no more just look below. This is the new concept car from BWM. It is the 2008 M3. This is something unusual for BWM because they didn't expect to get that much attention at this year's auto show. So this years Geneva Auto Show has some competition. The race now is between the Lexus IS-F and the BMW M3. Check out the Lexus IS-F below. In my opinion there is no comparison. When it comes to German cars you can't have competition. The M3 is one of the most reliable cars and also it happens to be one of the best sports cars. How many other cars combine these two things together. The M3 is a car that you can see a rich suburban mom drive and at the same time a spoiled teenager that wants to be a racer. I don't think that any other car can have such broad audience. That is all I can say, and if you think something different let me know in the form of a c...

2007 Geneva Auto Show Preview: Hyundai Unveils New "FD" C-Segment Hatchback
2007-02-20 09:03:01 GENEVA ? Hyundai will take the wraps off the C-segment hatchback that it has code-named FD on March 6 at the Geneva auto show. This is the first car Hyundai has ever designed specifically for Europe. The "FD" was shown in concept last fall at the Paris Motor Show in the guise of the Hyundai Arnejs. The new model is scheduled to reach European showrooms this summer. It is the sister vehicle to the Kia Cee'd. Kia launched the Cee'd five-door hatchback last December and will introduce a sporty wagon variant in Geneva. Like the FD, the Cee'd is a critical product for the Korean manufacturer because the vehicles are designed for the Europe market.Hyundai revealed few details about the FD, only cryptically saying it would include "generous equipment levels and an up-to-the-minute safety package." But it apparently has dumped the Arnejs nameplate in favor of a new alphanumerical naming strategy for Europe. Hyundai said its new product naming strategy will be introduced in Geneva. Arnejs ... |
