A lovely example can be found at www.gillianhoodless.co.uk This project (by an Edinburgh College of Art graduate) allows you to choose your way through an online story, each choice can be as random or purposeful as you want. The site offers a great way of exploring writing in short bursts, using and making new meanings with quotes from songs, poetry, tv etc. etc. The project, and your own adaptations of the idea, has huge potential for exploring the politics of genre and language. 2008-05-09 07:34:00 I recently came upon an article featuring Michael Chabon and Jeffrey Ford in which both authors gave some reasons as to why tagging fiction with certain genre tags isn't really that important. Chabon states that, "the people it matters the least to are the ones who are doing it. In so many other artistic mediums, it's not weird at all." This got me thinking about whether or not tagging novels within certain genres really matters and I'll send the question in the direction of the reader as well. To me it seems like this is a difficult question to answer. To a certain extent the genre tags are important. They help book stores figure out where to put things and are great for categorizing in libraries and online. I think the question applies, however, to the growing number of works that don't really sit into any one genre. Take Zoran Zivkovic's work. Abrams has produced through his "Bad Robot" production company, Cloverfield has been seen and under tight security, by Harry Knowles of "Ain't It Cool News." 2007-10-12 18:39:00 Video games have an extraordinary ability to creep out a player. When watching a scary movie, it’s the characters on screen that finds out what’s hiding around the corner. However, when playing a horror video game, you are the one who must creep into the darkness. The player assume to be Jackie Estacado a mob hitman who has been possessed by a spirit call itself The Darkness which is the source of his supernatural power.
