Crystal Dull
2008-06-08 03:27:00 Did it really take 20 years for the minds of Stephen Spielberg, George Lucas, and Harrison Ford to come up with the plot and dialogue for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?OMG! It's awful. Can we get that 2-1/2 hours of our lives back somehow? Why didn't somebody warn us? Makes JarJar Binks seem intellectual by comparison.

Five Questions Not Answered In ?Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crysta
2008-06-03 19:38:00 Given the time in development and the abundance of top-notch screenwriting talent, it is surprising that the screenplay of Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull is a bit of a mess. The movie left me asking questions about how or why certain things happened. After 18 years and several screen writers, shouldn't all these questions be answered? Here's a look at the top five unanswered questions from the film.

George Lucas? fatherly advice for success in the arts
2008-05-21 16:45:00 Remember that ultimately going for the money is 100% wrong. Going for love of what you’re doing is sort of 60% right. You can fill that other 40% with a little practical thinking: I also want to make a living at this. I don’t want to starve. —George Lucas, Quoted in USA Today

Clone Wars Poster & Trailer News
2008-05-07 17:17:00 We have a poster for the upcoming Clone Wars Film and news about the trailers release. Thanks to cinematical for the hookup: The poster has been released to herald the debut of the trailer, which will air May 8th simultaneously on Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN and Boomerang. It will air at 7:58 in all U.S. time zones. This animated feature will launch a series on the cartoon network. I think a theatrical release is a better idea than a made for TV movie that stretches over a few weeks. It?s more fun, and you don?t have infuriating commercials. I am skeptical that I will enjoy this cartoon; so I am not too jazzed about the film or the show. I do love the Star Wars universe, but the prequels have killed all hope for further projects. I just have no love for Darth Vader outside of his suit - he sucks. The release of this animated film will be upon us August 15th! For those of you in need of a Star Wars fix - there is one right around the corner! Cine Star Wars Clone Wars movie...

New Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Trailer - What Do Yo
2008-05-04 00:08:00 Many of you probably saw the new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in front of Iron Man, judging from Tony Stark?s boffo weekend numbers, and now it?s online. The coolest reveal here is that the plot?s plush Amazonian temple is said to be guarded by the undead, so on top of the rumored alien subplot, it appears Indy IV will be fencing off with that ambiguous X Files sequel for air conditioned supernatural kicks. We also gleam Shia LaBeouf?s Mutt Williams pulling a young biker Brando, Ford finally looking comfortable and in grizzled top form, an atomic-age countdown, and lots of nicely edited explosions and action. And as Peter and I have discussed, nobody has any idea how this blockbuster?s story will play and pan out, which is aces. With the exception of too much Boratian camp in Cate Blanchett?s accent, yes, I?d say this trailer kicks ass. Eighteen days and counting, that?s a welcome relief, as George Lucas?s constant meh?ing was sucking up my anticipa...

Final Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull Trailer
2008-05-03 20:41:00 At the Iron Man screening(s) I attended the new (and presumably, final) trailer for Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull was shown, and I have to admit that I'm finally getting excited about this film. I just really hope that Spielberg and Lucas manage to re-capture the spirit of the original. The trailer at least, seems to do so. Check out the brand new trailer below and see for yourself. I think it looks great and I can't express how happy I am at seeing Karen Allen back on the big screen playing the wonderful character of Marion Ravenwood from the original Raiders of the Lost Ark. One of my biggest disappointments with the series was when they came back with the sequel without her as the leading lady, and instead replacing her with the whiney character played by Kate Capshaw. That was pretty much unforgivable as far as I'm concerned and to this day Temple of Doom remains my least favorite of the original trilogy. But Indy 4? This one I'm finally looking f...

The Top Ten Sci-Fi Films That Never Existed
2008-04-13 01:48:00 10. The "Real" Alien 31992, Directed by, oh, let's say Ridley Scott The most excited I've ever been to see a movie ever in my life was the moment I saw the first Alien 3 "teaser" trailer in 1991 (teasers are shot well before the movie itself is finished filming). It's the one that promised the aliens were coming to freaking Earth. No, I didn't dream it. They really did show that trailer (they even have a copy of it HERE), sending it to theaters before they had even started production, before they had even picked a script. Visions of awesomeness flashed through my head, a Blade Runner-ish Earth with sprawling, filthy buildings, huge flashing billboards with giant Asian women on them, beat-up flying cars whooshing by and steam always rising from the streets for some reason. And then the aliens start breeding in the miles of dank sewers that tangle under the bustling streets, the creatures boiling up out of manholes by the hundreds, cut to pieces by Marines with pulse rifles a...

George Lucas: Indy 4 is "Just a Movie"
2008-03-27 11:27:00 George Lucas, having learned from the high-expectations of his Star Wars prequel trilogy, has accepted a realistic, even defeatist, attitude toward the coming critical and fan reaction to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. He told USAToday:When you do a movie like this, a sequel that's very, very anticipated, people anticipate ultimately that it's going to be the Second Coming. And it's not. It's just a movie. Just like the other movies. You probably have fond memories of the other movies. But if you went back and looked at them, they might not hold up the same way your memory holds up.When people approach the new (Indiana Jones), much like they did with Phantom Menace, they have a tendency to be a little harder on it. You're not going to get a lot of accolades doing a movie like this. All you can do is lose.Geez, hang in there, George Lucas. Life is still worth living. After all, box office analysts are expecting it to make well over double its $125 million bu...

The Star Wars poobah is back to his ?let?s be realistic? and ?most of you will probably hate it, but so what?? schtick, but this time he?s voicing his (non)concern about expectations for May?s Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. And he goes on to take a jab at all of the preceding Indiana Jones movies as well. Why not? George Lucas Talks Clone Wars
2008-03-15 01:14:00 George Lucas Talks Clone WarsExclusive: Plus the live-action show George Lucas was in Las Vegas this week, not for the loose women and fibreglass recreations of famous landmarks, but to bang the drum for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the upcoming animated film and TV series. He showed a five-minute clip of a battle sequence from the film, which exhibited the retro-futuristic look that the new project will be going for and then we had a quick chat with him about what's in store for the film.Lucas described the film, which takes place between episodes two and three of the series, as "a stylised cartoon, it's not photo real...it's in a Gerry Anderson style, Thunderbirds. The characters have painted surfaces - they look like they've been painted." He also told us that it will feature all the major characters from the films. "It's got everyone," he said. "Yoda, The Emperor... everybody that's in the features is in the animated series. It's just...

Editing can be a very difficult thing to get into for some of us, the actual writing being so much easier (!?!). Once you get started editing though, you start to see fast changes in the quality, and the shape of the piece you are working on. It starts to shine, and your ambition will often make you ask, ?Just how good can I make this piece?? and so you polish more, and more, and more. You can keep polishing forever; there is no such thing as a perfect piece of writing. You will polish to a point where the work becomes sterile, but pushing beyond that, it comes to take on an intense and personal meaning with Zen like qualities. Beyond this point, you come to labor for hours over the semi-colon, the intricacies of quotation marks for dialog, and the artistic qualities of your grammatical structure.?Movies are never finished, they?re only ever abandoned,? said George Lucas, and he was right, you have to...

People Vs. George Lucas
2008-02-25 23:18:00 I didn't mind the prequels, though The Phantom Menace was bad, but mostly due to the kid's acting and Jar Jar. I thought much of Attack of the Clones was good and Sith was awesome. However, a group of angry fans have started a new site called peoplevsgeorge.com to promote a full-length feature documentary that you can participate in. Basically, get a camera and rant all you want, then send it in. (Heath's tips: make sure your audio is good and the shot's in focus.)I don't personally care one way or another; I'm not an uber-Star Wars fan, though I like the Classics better than the Special Editions (Greedo shot first!), but the fans are rabid! This should be interesting! (Note: I am a rabid Marvel Comics Iron Man fan!)

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
2007-08-29 20:05:00 Earlier this year, Star Wars and gaming fans became excited with some CG footage developed in preparation for the next Star Wars game; or rather, the first Star Wars game for current-gen consoles. Titled The Force Unleashed, the game would explore events between Episodes III and IV - but there is one aspect of the game that has not yet gathered a lot of attention. This is more than just a game. A Multimedia ProjectBack in 1996, Lucasfilm participated in an unprecedented project that was initially nicknamed "the movie without the movie". The multimedia project turned out to be Shadows of the Empire, arguably the most successful Star Wars game released at that point in time. The goal was to create everything that you could imagine that would be associated with a movie release; except the movie itself. In turn, Shadows of the Empire became not only a game, but a novel, a comic/graphic novel, action figures, clothing, guide books, a soundtrack, and more. This will be the same c...

George Lucas The Racist
2007-08-28 13:02:00 Hispanics Protest Over New Indiana Jones Movie, Indiana Jones And The City Of The Gods: Has George Lucas Finally Gone Too Far? George Lucas has made a career of cashing in on racial stereotypes, from the British gay man C-3PO, to the generic-Asian homosexual boy, Short Round (Temple of Doom), Lucas has run the gambit of racially offensive characters. But Lucas may have gone too far with his latest character in the new Indiana Jones movie. Alfredo Menendez Gonzalez is a hard drinking, 15 hour a day working, tequila loving, daughter raping, wacky and Mexican, that helps Indy and serves as comic relief. Lucas got the idea for the character while he was watching his gardeners on the Lucas ranch. "I saw my gardeners eating apricots from a tree on my land and was very angry. But when I went to confront them they did something, they made me laugh. In their backwards unintelligent way they inspired a new character for the new Indiana Jones film." Said a very subdued Lucas.
