George Strait - “Troubadour”
2008-06-03 16:37:00 If it weren’t coming from someone as accomplished as George Strait, “Troubadour” might seem like the regret of a person looking back on an unaccomplished life. As it is, the narrator seems to be content with what he is and what he’s done in his life. It’s a thought that’s simple enough to be relatable by anyone who feels that they are what they are and there isn’t any changing that. “Troubadour” provides for a pleasant listen with Strait’s consistently reliable vocal performance, but there isn’t a whole lot of substance to the lyric. In the chorus, Strait tells us that he sometimes feels “like Jesse James, still trying to make a name, knowing nothings gonna change what I am.” I have to think that the name Jesse James is well known enough, but I’m not sure the lyric will be instantly discernible or if it even makes sense. Is this in reference to Jesse James changing his name to Mr. Howard, but not being able to change his outlaw ways? If so, is...

George Strait My All Time Favorite Country Singers, Movie Pure Country 1992
2008-05-12 16:24:00 George Strait is one of my all time favorite country singers some call him the King of Country. I have been listening to xm radio all week they are playing George Strait non-stop so I have been listening to that all day. Is probably the reason I am writing this blog post I have him on my mind. With listening to his music with realizing how great he really is. He is such legend with all the number one hits he has and still creating them today with his new album. Many country artists have come and gone he is still creating hits every year ever his career started. That is what a legend is to keep creating hits no matter what year it is. What I think makes him so great with listening to many of songs it like he telling story in each one with so much truth. Is something special the way he makes a song about anything sound so great. I know he has been around for a long time. I become aware of him the 90s but has been around since the 80s. I watched the movie Pure Country in 1992. I didn?t...

Album Review: George Strait - Troubadour
2008-04-03 14:53:00 George Strait has a knack for choosing the right songs, which has helped him remain a constant on the charts over the past twenty seven years, so it’s hard not to jump on his bandwagon and praise everything he does. His twenty-fifth studio album, Troubador, no doubt contains some strong singles and has him ...

George Strait - ?I Saw God Today?
2008-02-14 05:37:00 After 27 years in the music business, I wouldn?t expect George Strait to be able to learn new tricks. In the 1990s, country radio fell in love with three-verse, sentimental narrative structures. The nearest Strait came to this convention was 1995?s ?Check Yes or No,? a three verse love song that portrays a couple in ...

Kenny Chesney featuring George Strait - ?Shiftwork?
2007-12-12 19:40:00 For as few duets as George Strait does, he agreed to record a real clunker here. “Shiftwork” barely touches on the working man’s plight and doesn’t really go much beyond slightly complaining about “a big ol’ pile of shiftwork.” The fact that it’s light and fluffy isn’t that big of a deal and doesn’t ...
