The first of these meetings will take place in early September 2008 at Howard. Despite the long histories of both programs, the sides had never met in football, a situation vaguely reminiscent of the Delaware and Delaware State squads having competed in close proximity but not against each other. Only in this case, it is the traditional black university Howard that would likely be considered the neutral site favorite. Both schools should be applauded for making this long overdue arrangement. Hopefully, Howard and Georgetown universities will market the series as something for which the whole of Washington, D.C. can take a working interest. 2008-03-23 22:03:00 The #2 seed Georgetown Hoyas have been bounced from the NCAA men's basketball tournament, defeated in the second round after a stunning comeback by dangerous #10 seed Davidson, 74-70. Georgetown lost a 46-29 second half lead to the intrepid Wildcats, going down by seven before GU's own belated comeback fell short. Stephen Curry led the Wildcats back from the brink just as he did two days earlier, scoring 30 points including 6 late foul shots in the upset. The Washington Times cited overconfidence and a lack of intensity on the part of Georgetown as keys to the defeat of the regular season champions as Pittsburgh outrebounded HGU, 41-29.The Hoyas will of course still make the NCAA tournament field as an at-large team, likely still with a strong #2 or #3 seed. The second chance should allow John Thompson III to bring his players back in line.
