Georgia Carry update
2011-08-26 19:16:00 August 26, 2011Dear GCO Member, The following email was received from GCO Member, Jerry Strange detailing his dealings with the DNR concerning an encounter he had earlier in the year. This shows what strength we have as a group and as an individual if we decide to use that power properly. This is a very positive outcome due to Jerry's due diligence. During the third week of February, 2011, I was stopped and detained at Cloudland Canyon State Park to verify that I had a valid Weapons Carry License for my firearm. During the encounter I was sitting at a picnic table, at my campsite, beside my campfire, getting ready to grill some steaks. My wife was sitting beside me, reading a magazine. I was confronted by the DNR Law Enforcement Ranger on duty, and advised that he needed to verify that I had a valid GWCL for my firearm. During the discussion about the legalities of his action, he insisted several times that he was within...

Stephon Tuitt de-commits from Georgia Tech, re-commits to Notre Dame...one
2011-01-20 06:55:00 Well, this is just getting ridiculous. per Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune After de-committing from Notre Dame on Tuesday to switch to Georgia Tech, and having his high school coach release a terse statement of "This is it for Stephon. He won't be taking visits nor having coaches over to his house unless it is a Georgia Tech coach," mega-prospect Stephon Tuitt has switched his commitment back to the Irish..... ....orally.... ....without signing anything... ...with two weeks still till signing day... ...just sayin'... Tuitt himself went on the record this time, and made it sound a lot like some uh....issues were raised to him about Notre Dame....and now they've been cleared up after a meeting with Brian Kelly and Bob Diaco.
Stephon Tuitt de-commits and goes to Georgia Tech
2011-01-19 07:26:00 Wellllllllllllll, crapsticks. If there's a surefire way to remind us all to not count the stars on the recruit list before National Signing Day, perhaps the jewel of the 2011 Notre Dame recruiting class de-commiting and flipping to Georgia Tech is it. The loss of Tuitt, a 270-lb DE from Georgia is somewhat blunted by the fact that the Irish have signed 1743 other pass-rushers this year, but he was the best one, and his size projected him to become a run-stopping interior lineman, putting a lot more emphasis on freshman Louis Nix to become something. Brian Smith said on Twitter that Nix is "gonna be our Nick Fairley" next season, and I can only pray that there are some limitations to that comparison. I could shamelessly speculate about Tuitt's motivations, with Georgia Tech being closer to his home being the most likely motivation, and him not being able to part himself from Waffle House being the least; but if Notre Dame was interested in Stephon, he's probably a bright young...

Libertarian Party of Georgia Asks Republican Senators, "Why So Much Pork?"
2010-12-17 04:28:00 Libertarian Party of Georgia Asks Republican Senators, "Why So Much Pork?" ATLANTA - This week, Congress contemplates passage of a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill. With many criticizing the inclusion of 6,488 earmarks just weeks after Senate Republicans self-imposed an earmark moratorium, the Libertarian Party of Georgia is asking Republican Senators Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss why they have 24 and 42 earmarks, respectively, in the proposed legislation. In both the 2008 and 2010 re-election campaigns of the incumbent Senators, they stressed their fiscally conservative credentials during their respective campaigns against far more fiscally conservative Libertarian candidates Allen Buckley and Chuck Donovan. With a combined 66 earmarks, both Senators joined 33 other Republicans in packing the omnibus bill full of pork-barrel spending prior to the moratorium that both Chambliss and Isakson supported. "My question to the Georgia Senators ...

Libertarian Party of Georgia Opposes TSA's Use Of Whole Body Image Security
2010-11-19 02:41:00 Libertarian Party of Georgia Opposes TSA's Use Of Whole Body Image Security Checkpoints FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 18, 2010 (ATLANTA) - In response to the recent debate surrounding the Transportation Security Administration's use of Whole Body Image (WBI) scanners, as well as the two cases already recently filed against the TSA by the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) and the Rutherford Institute, the Libertarian Party of Georgia announces today their public opposition to the TSA's decision to use these devices in our nation's airports. According to the TSA website (www.tsa.gov) at the time of press, in a statement dated October 28, 2010, "passengers should continue to expect an unpredictable mix of security layers that include explosives trace detection, advanced imaging technology, [and] canine teams, among others." 2010-10-01 20:08:00 Libertarian Party of Georgia Urges Defeat of All Ballot Amendments Contact: Brett Bittner - (404) 888-9468 brett.bittner@lpgeorgia.com FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ATLANTA - The Libertarian Party of Georgia released their recommendations for the constitutional amendments and referendum to appear on November's ballot today on their website, www.LPGeorgia.com. The Libertarian Party is urging voters statewide to cast a "No" vote on each of the five proposed constitutional amendments, as well as the proposed referendum. In their recommendation release, Georgia Libertarians took a position on Amendment 1 that may surprise voters. Their position calls for a "No" vote, citing a stifling of marketplace expansion by enforcing employment contract clauses that prohibit former employees of a company to go to work for a competing firm or to start their own venture. They note that by protecting the interests of big business, by adding a barrier to entry into the marketplace, is not a s...

2010-09-22 21:32:00 Chuck Donovan: The Only U.S. Senate Candidate in Georgia to Sign the "No Pork" Pledge ATLANTA, GA – September 21, 2010 – Chuck Donovan is now the only U.S. Senate candidate in Georgia to sign the No Pork Pledge. The No Pork Pledge is published by the Citizens Against Government Waste, a private, non-partisan, non-profit organization focused on eliminating waste and mismanagement in the government. Only one other candidate in Georgia is on record as having signed this pledge, and no other Senate candidate has signed it. Although there are strict limits stated in the pledge, Donovan felt the pledge is not strict enough. The original language stated he would not support a budget request that “Greatly exceeds” the previous years funding. Because of the huge spending increases in the past years, during Donovan’s first full term of office there will be no need for a Federal budget increase of any kind. Donovan crossed out the word “Greatl...

2010-05-03 16:15:00 - Tonight is the first night of the new Georgia ex. com. It is the first time in about two years that I have been on the ex. com. I am looking forward to it. Georgia has got some great candidates this year from top to bottom. We will be running the first African American for Governor ever in the state of Georgia. The Great thing was the party never talked about his color we talked about his love for freedom and liberty . I have also paid for my hotel for the St. Louis National Convention. Has any thought abpout who they are supporting for LNC chair. It looks like I am going with George Phillies . I supported him early for the 2008 presidential campaign until I got wrapped him in the Bob Barr campaign. If I had to do it over I would stick with George Phillies this time around. I did vote for Steve Kubby for vice. who of course lost to Wayne Root in the end. I hope to start posting a little more often.

Georgia congressman says Wilson outburst planned
2009-09-23 02:04:00 This from the CNN Ticker explains quite fully what I intuited about Joe Wilson's well-timed "You Lie!" outburst during the president's Address to a Joint Session of Congress on Sept 9.And quelle surprise! It comes from a Georgia congressman! Why, I didn't know it possible for this particular native Georgian (moi) not to have to be embarassed by the 'conservative' politicians who hail from this region and astound me and others here with their odd views and simply annoying southern drawls. So consider me knocked over by a feather on this one! But Jimmy Carter in the fray? When I was an impressionable teenager I had occasion to shake his very freckly hand and was quite horrified - it felt like a limp lobster to me. Now, of course, I appreciate the work that he and his wife do and have done through the Carter Center, Habitat for Humanity, and other projects on behalf of Human Rights all over the globe.Guess that's a teenager for you.
