P. C. Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity # Author:David Allen# Format:PDF 2.3MB# Page Count: 288 pages# Publisher: Viking Adult; 1 edition (January 4, 2001)# Language: English# ISBN-10: 0670899240# ISBN-13: 978-0670899241In today's world, yesterday's methods just don't work. Veteran coach and management consultant David Allen recognizes that time management is useless the minute your schedule is interrupted; setting priorities isn't relevant when your e-mail is down; procrastination solutions won't help if your goals aren't clear. Instead, Allen shares with readers the proven methods he has already introduced in seminars and at top organizations across the country. The key to Getting Things Done? Relaxation.Allen's premise is simple: our ability to be productive is directly proportional to our ability to relax. Only when our minds are clear and our thoughts are organized can we achieve stress-free productivity. His seamless system teaches us how to identify, t...

Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity (Paperback)
2008-02-21 08:05:00
With first-chapter allusions to martial arts, "flow," "mind like water," and other concepts borrowed from the East (and usually mangled), you'd almost think this self-helper from David Allen should have been called Zen and the Art of Schedule Maintenance. Not quite. Yes, Getting Things Done offers a complete system for downloading all those free-floating gotta-do's clogging your brain into a sophisticated framework of files and action lists--all purportedly to free your mind to focus on whatever you're working on. However, it still operates from the decidedly Western notion that if we could just get really, really organized, we could turn ourselves into 24/7 productivity machines. (To wit, Allen, whom the New Economy bible Fast Company has dubbed "the personal productivity guru," suggests that instead of meditating on crouching tigers and hidden dragons while you wait for a plane, you should unsheathe that high-tech saber known as the cell phone and attack that list of calls you n...

???? ? ??????, ?? ??? ??? ?????. ?????? ???? Getting Things Done ??? ???? ??? ??? ?????. ??? ??? ?? ??? ??? ?????. [????: http://www.getrichslowly.org/im-ages/gtdcover.jpg] Creating A GTD Screensaver in PowerPoint I?ve been a fan of the Getting Things Done methodology for some time now. The idea of working with ?Next Actions? works well for me. I usually use Outlook and the GTD Outlook plug-in from David Allen to categorize my action list. While this works good in most cases, when I get really busy my next action list is buried in small print in Outlook. Unless I?m looking directly at it, it can disappear with different e-mail and calendar views. I?ve come up with different solutions over time that help with this situation, including Next Action business cards and a daily actions sheet on my desk. The main idea is to keep next actions where I can see them. I realized the other day that a GTD screensaver would work well to put these next actions up in view when the computer is...

Stress Free Productivity with David Allen?s Getting Things Done
2007-12-02 18:40:00
This is the book that should be read (not merely bookshelved!) by every entrepreneur: Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity. I don’t know about you, but my business life goes in 100 directions daily; unfortunately I’m not a spreadsheet kind of person, so keeping myself organized is a major challenge - and one I struggle with on a daily basis. I can only imagine what I could accomplish, given the time I spend everyday angst-ing about my lack of time and organization! I particularly like the fact that Allen designed this book for both left and right-brained thinkers. There are flow charts for the leftys and discussions about stress for the rightys. Pop over to Amazon and you’ll find a zillion reviews of this book, so I won’t go into great detail here, except to note that if you’re an overwhelmed entrepreneur, you need to order this book today. Right now!     david allen, flow charts, get things done, stress f...
Getting Things Done hardcover set
2007-11-29 20:01:00
If you haven’t read David Allen’s Getting Things Done, you are truly missing out on a lot. It is the basis of his GTD system, and provides invaluable information, and is also an interesting read. It will outline how to put your life back into order, by putting everything out of your mind, down onto some medium. You can than think clearly to process these thoughts and actually do everything you want in an orderly fashion, productively. His other book, Ready For Anything is a sort of second chapter to his first book. It deals with the problem of diving into this system. Everyone knows this should work, but some people have trouble getting into it, something is holding them back. He deals with many of these questions, providing useful answers to all. Now these two books are available as a bundle, in hardcover, and for an awesome low, $35.95 price. This really is cheap, you could even buy it as a gift for a GTD obsessed friend or family member. Buy the two books on David All...
Getting Things Done - A Review
2007-11-20 01:11:00
I recently re-read and listened to the audio book by David Allen Getting Things Done - The Art of Stress-Free Productivity.  The difference this time - I was ready to put the techniques to use and have discovered a system that works for me.   The major aha for me was realizing my "to do" list is not enough.  The key step I was missing was taking the time to think about and record the "next action" to take in order to move a project forward to my desired outcome. The basic premise of the book is to get everything out of your head, off your mind and into a trusted system you know you will use.  Older time/resource management systems are inefficient in today's fast-paced, multi-tasking world.  Our minds are powerful instruments - constantly reminding us of things to do, unfinished projects, seemingly endless "open loops" of information.   Our stress levels are increased when we don't have a method of emptying thes...

Next Action : Getting Things Done!
2007-07-22 08:55:00
This post is long due. I have been using "Next Action" a cool application to maintain your todo list for quite some time now. Its cool because of so many reasons. Here is the small screenshot of the tool-bar of the application. It has dashboard to show you whats pending. It clearly differentiates in actions and projects. Action means a single activity whereas project can last for 2-3 weeks or a month. Its SPA :single page application The framework in which it is written is completely in javascript/html/css and is a complete re-write of Rails framework for ruby. Developers look out this pageYou have option to use it as standalone html as well as having sqlite database. The only problem for me was to keep the data at the office and home to remain same. There is a solution to this problem also. This now has support for google gears too. I haven't tried this one though. I need not write everything here. The interface is really intuitive and you will like it for sure.So start usi...

Getting Things Done
2007-07-21 00:03:00
As we work with a number of different partners from all walks of life and a variety of industries, it’s interesting to see how people define working hard. In fact, it’s interesting to see a lot of other things that I would never have seen had I stayed at my old job as an investment banker. But back to the work ethic. At JPMorgan, you worked until things got done (and the boss went home). Somehow this generally occured around midnight. With this background, it’s interesting to see how some people say they’re too busy to get anything done, but then I find out that they go home at 4 o’clock or that when they were out at a meeting they were actually shopping.I am not saying that work should be your life. What I am saying is that don’t say you’re working hard when you’re not and also don’t make promises that you can’t keep.

Here is a great article about Randy Mott, CIO of Hewlett Packard. The thing to pick up on from this article is the importance of having management skills and not just technical prowess in order to get things done.Mott's greatest strength may be that while a technologist, he has the management skills to actually make it take root in a company's culture. Linda Dillman, a onetime Wal-Mart CIO and now its executive vice-president for risk management and benefits administration, recalls how Mott championed the deployment of IT by showing how it achieved Wal-Mart's business goals.Hope you have a great weekend..SlainteGordonThe daily challenges of an Entrepreneur living in Central Scotland
Getting Things Done with an iPhone - total black belt productivity
2007-03-10 03:47:01
It’s a fact: the iPhone will be here. Maybe it’s already, as rumors are already spreading about Steve Jobs conspicuously using it. So how this will help us, GTD addicted fellows? I spent a little time making a scenario about the best usage of an iPhone-centric GTD implementation, so here it is. We’ll start with the first phase out of the five described by David Allen in his book, and then we’ll explore some specific situations. 1. Collect One of the most neglected applications on the iPhone, equally during the keynote and after the keynote, was the Notes application. It was clearly depicted in the screenshots and presentation movies but I didn’t saw any specific references to it. It’s already on iPods, so why don’t we stick it in the iPhone too, right? I think it deserves a lot more attention, because, believe it or not, my impression is that could be the cornerstone of the collection process in the GTD methodology. As simple as it may seem...
