2008-04-12 19:54:00 Salve!!! The Gimp non ha nulla da invidiare al costoso rivale Adobe Photoshop, a partire anche dei pennelli, che sono davvero tantissimi e altrettanto particolari. Ce ne sono moltissimi in internet, come ad esempio la sezione GIMP Bruches di Devian Art, che contiene gli schizzi d'arte di molti artisti ispirati in quel momento. Da non perdere assolutamente è GIMP Sparklies Brushes e 1100 Gimp Brushes.Per poter utilizzare i pennelli dobbiamo mettere il file appena scaricato nella cartella Bruches di The Gimp. Su (K)Ubuntu avremo bisogno dei permessi di amministratore per inserire i pennelli nella directory Bruches (che si trova solitamente in /usr/share/gimp/2.0/bruches). Di conseguenza possiamo loggarci come amministratore, oppure digitare da terminale sudo cp "directory_dei_pennelli_da_copi-are" /usr/share/gimp/2.0/bruches.

The course I am taking is Advertising Design, which focuses mainly in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and some others which I don't remember. So, I am going to go back to Adobe (I know, eck) products to refresh my memory. Gimp isn't supported, shamefully, but with all my Gimp skills it should come in handy.But don't worry, I'm not completely leaving Gimp, and I'm not completely leaving all the Gimp websites out there, including this one. I'll still be around. I might even make a couple of tutorials or so, especially over summer when I have more time, but then I will also need to double up on my Photoshop and Illustrator use then because those are the couple of months I have to practice just before my courses. So yeah, what I'm saying is I won't be using Gimp ...

My girlfriend asked me “I’ve already installed my downloaded fonts at C:WINDOWSFonts and restarted The GIMP and still the new fonts is not there, why?“. The GIMP is reading installed fonts on windows once it is installed and stores it on a cache file. So all you have to do is delete those cache and run The GIMP again. Here’s a step by step on how to do it on Windows XP: Start>Run then type %USERPROFILE% Then go to Tools>Folder Options Because the folder is hidden, you have to show hidden files and folders, to do that go to View tab and select the Show hidden files and folders and click OK. Then go to Local Settings>Temp>fontconfig&-gt;cache and delete what’s in that folder. If you want to hide back the files and folders, just go back to step 3. You can now restart your GIMP and enjoy making graphics. ...
