2007-09-20 18:26:00 With last few days being very busy, I missed Gizmo5 launch. But customary visit to Andy abramson' webpage to catch up with few days fixed that. Gizmo5 is focused on providing Voice and IM services to mobile folks, which I am a part of. I am not a person who is always wanted to be connected. But I want to be able to be online when I need to and that turns out to be always ;).One other thing Andy Pointed out was the lack of communication mediums at ITEXPO. I was at ITEXPO before leaving on another venture and needed to be connected but that forced me to get up early and stay at my friends apartment whole morning to get some work done. I second Andy in requesting good organizers to provide better communications methods to always connected.Back to Gizmo5, Andy has a press release that I could not find! and the Gizmo5.com is up. Version 3.0 of the popular, cross-platform VoIP client was released, introducing several requested features including tabbed chat, improved group chat, complete chat logging, real-time file sharing and more. Unfortunately, version 3.0 is only available immediately for Windows, but will soon be moved over to OS X and Linux. Until I boot up Parallels to give it a try, I’ve posted the press release below. Today (Tues) SIPphone is announcing the NEW Gizmo Project 3.0 with a press release and I wanted to give you a heads up. Gizmo Project 3.0 has NEW meta-voice capabilities that link together four of the most popular Voice and IM networks with one client for the first time. Gizmo Project goes web-based
2007-01-31 11:20:02 It’s a bit late compared to Jajah, AIM and others, but Gizmo Project finally goes web-based. SIPphone will announce tomorrow the launch of Gizmo Call, an online service that will enable Internet calls from any browser. “Users get 5 minutes of calling per day to just about any phone number and can double that if they register with an email address,” reports ZDNet. “If they want to make more calls, they can purchase Call Out minutes. Besides PSTN phones they can call for free Google Talk users, Windows Live users, Gizmo Project users and of course any SIP address/device” — which is the regular functions allowed by a SIP-based VoIP client. The service needs a 900Ko (!) flash plugin to start. It’s pretty heavy, but smaller than the standalone IP calling software itself, about 10Mo to 18Mo depending on your platform.
