The Scottish quartet were a fitting tribute to the moody pop bands that filled Hughes groundbreaking mid-'80s movie soundtracks, sounding equal parts Jesus and Mary Chain and Phil Spector on Quaaludes. Frontman James Allen looked like Joe Strummer's long lost son as he lead his band through a set of fuzzed-out guitars and echoing beats, the latter provided by drummer Caroline McKay, whose sparse two-drum set filled a surprising amount of space. Zumindest werden sie in der Bloggerwelt schon lobend herumgereicht, und wenn man sich ihre Musik anhört, so stellt man erfreut fest, dass hier jenseits aller Garagenrockattitüden schöner Gitarrenpop geboten wird (mit einer Prise Frank & Walters oder Billy Bragg, aber auch etwas C86). 2007-01-29 11:08:01 Some fingers (and toes) will be firmly crossed in Glasgow as the announcement of the location of the UK’s first and only super casino is due soon. A super casino could create up to 2000 new jobs and make Glasgow more appealing to the conference and tourism market. There is opposition in some quarters with a feeling that this will only further encourage gambling. It is a difficult question, if people want to gamble and it is entertainment for those who take an occasional flutter or at least can afford to lose what they stake, why should Glasgow not cash in on this? |
