Something Brewing In Hab Town?

With draft day just 21 days away there is too much of nothing going on in Montreal. Too quiet. With all the restricted free agents and a few unrestricted free agents to sign, could one think that Habs general manager is up to something?
Seattle & Victoria Vacation
2008-04-17 13:07:00
I?ve promised details about my vacation to the Seattle, Washington area and Victoria, British Columbia so this is it. I have also included a few pictures, but please bear with me as this was the first time I have ever used a digital camera. Yes, I know that it is 2008. I?ve also heard good things about this new VCR thing. Before the pictures, I wanted to share a few notes:- I?m a big fan of the Suquamish Clearwater Casino, especially the $3 blackjack tables. I finished up $11, which is a significant difference from Atlantic City last month. My favorite moment was when I hit on 15, got an 8 and then watched the dealer pay me after he busted on his final hand before a break. I noticed the mistake as did everyone else at the table and probably the new dealer who was about to start his shift, but no one said anything. I think it?s a rule that if the dealer makes a mistake in your favor, no one says anything. - I?m also a big fan of taking a ferry into Seattle. What a neat way to...

Globe and Mail Neurodiversity Article - The Aftermath
2007-11-06 16:02:00
The Globe and Mail article on Neurodiversity ‘Autistics': We don't want a cure was, IMHO, a balanced presentation. I am not a fan of the Neurodiversity ideologues. But I knew when Ms. Erin Anderssen interviewed me that she was trying to do an article on their perspective. I knew that she would not write about them the way that I would and I did not expect her, as a journalist, to do that. I appreciated being given the opportunity to offer a different perspective. It is the parents and other caregivers who have the legal, moral and practical responsibility to care for their children not internet ideologues from all parts of the globe. Nor do extremely high functioning autistic persons like Michelle Dawson, Amanda Bags or Jim Sinclair have any right to tell the world what my son and others like him are thinking or feeling. They have no idea what he wants, or thinks. They do not share anywhere near the same challenges in life that he endures. In particular the Neurodivers...

Canada's Globe and Mail: Ron Paul Against NAFTA Superhighway
2007-08-22 01:32:00
It's a threat that has left-wing Canadian nationalists and right-wing U.S. congressmen in rare and dismayed agreement: a freeway, four football fields wide, stretching from Mexico to northern Manitoba. Groups on both sides of the political spectrum say the corridor - dubbed the NAFTA superhighway - is a primary goal of the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) of North America established two years ago by the leaders of the United States, Canada and Mexico. At separate press conferences in Ottawa yesterday, the road was held out as an example of the potentially repugnant effects of the trilateral partnership. There's just one thing: Officials in Canada and the United States say no plans for any such freeway are in the works. The concept, they say, is part urban myth and part fear-mongering. But the detractors of the SPP are convinced that the road's construction has already been approved. They argue that plans are being kept secret, a lament they extend to the discussions...

Globe and Mail Reports on Funerals for Children Lost Through Early Miscarri
2007-05-27 23:31:00
Yesterday, Canada’s The Globe and Mail reported on a new trend: funerals for children who die in early miscarriages. And strangely, a number of women claiming to be pro-choice are among those holding funerals for their little ones. Now, I say “strangely” because it does seem like a bizarre twist in pro-choice logic. If an unborn ...
