I was at the said place last Monday(November 5, 2007) and I really felt a deep sense of gloom and fear that another explosion might happen. That was the time again when I visited that mall after the incident. Just a moment ago, I received a very shocking mail from my cousin showing pictures of the aftermath of Glorietta explosion. I know that a lot of pictures from different angles were already posted on the internet but these things were different-there are people included.......bruised.....unre-cognizable....bloody....motionl-ess...... and lifeless. 2007-11-02 14:08:00 Last October 19, 2007, I received a call around at 1:30pm asking me where I was and to confirm if there was indeed a bombing of Glorietta 2. At that moment, I noticed my officemates were trying to browse the already slow Inquirer.net website. I tried to browse Philstar.com but information presented was vague so I switched to Inquirer.net's express edition and the initial report was an LPG tank explosion.Within minutes I received pictures of the "blast site" in my email showing gory pictures and lurid details even showing bloodied faces of victims killed that can be identified. Thought of posting the pictures but the better part of me told me to exercise restraint. I didn't blog about this "bombing" incident in the first place due to many reasons: I don't have a first hand account of the incident, I don't use pictures taken by other people unless I have explicit permission, and I don't want to generate blog traffic out of the incident. Last Last Wednesday, after the gruelling pay day I was already having a hard time thinking if I could go to Glorietta early to buy some stuff or I'll just go to SM Santa Rosa on Saturday-which was yesterday. My work starts at 1 PM so I was planning to arrive there earlier so I won't be late... I planned to do that on a FRIDAY. What prompted me to write another post about the accident (Yes, it is an accident, people. Get over it.) is the hilarious devolution of the whole incident into a political debate.Take Manuel Quezon III's post. Read through the comments (288 at the last count). But let me indulge in catharsis and allow me to write one last time about this incident before I move on with my life.First, I think it's an accident. The fact that no one has owned up to it until now (the RSG claim was a cheap prank) and not a shred of bomb fragment has been found points a very big finger to the gas-explosion theory. I don't care what those UP chemical engineers say. These types of explosions may seem improbable but one only has to look at similar freak accidents elsewhere. Most notable is the PEPCON blast in Nevada in 1988 wherein amonium perchlorate, an ingredient in rocket fuel and is "supposed to be" non-explosive, caused a huge blast that measured 3.5 on the Richter scale and was felt 1000 kilometers away. Over the weekend, several geek friends of mine have put forward deflagration as the probable cause of the Glorietta blast, especially after The Inquirer published a composite image of the blast site inside the Glorietta 2 lobby.According to them, deflagration is just like a gigantic fart, wherein tremendous gas pressure is released similar to a gas-powered canon--meaning, in one direction--as opposed to the ripple effect of a bomb.They point to the damage directed above, all the way to the roof, instead of towards the surrounding areas. Dozens of people were rushed to the said hospital after they were hit by an explosion that rocked the Glorietta 2 mall in Makati City. The origin of the explosion is still undetermined.
