Railroad buffs should head over to White River Junction VT for the 16th Annual Glory Days of Railroad Festival this Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Rain or Shine)Adult admission is just $3 but excursion train ride is extra. The VT Chamber of Commerce has twice (five years ago and last year) named the event a Top 10 Fall Event. In addition to the railroad equipment displays and excursion train rides, there will be food, music, antique car show, and crafts. This event is produced by the New England Transportation Museum located in the White River Junction Amtrak station. It has displays available year around if you can't make it to Glory Days. I wasn't even aware of the first game, but after I saw some action packed clips of this game I wanted to give this game a whirl. I'm glad I did because Glory Days 2 combines hectic arcade action with strategy game elements.Gameplay: 8/10Pros: Very Unique and different gameplay. Distinct vehicles with different gameplay mechanics and strategies, hectic arcade action- combination of helicopter rescue and sidescroller shoot em up. different time periods, tons of weapons, etc.Cons: Touch controls are awful. In long play sessions, gameplay can be repetitive. Difficulty can be frustrating since you usually lose because your army is stupid, not because you get shot down...it keeps you playing though.Graphics: 7.5/10Pros: Tons of action, fast gamespeed and metal slug-esque graphics. I saw three of those teams make it to Final Fours - and one of them come thisclose to winning it all. I don’t see the Virginia women’s basketball program being anywhere near the level of being able to compete for a national title anytime soon. Who am I trying to kid - I can’t imagine the program being able to get back to the NCAA tournament anytime soon. (more…)

2007-02-11 23:59:00 Lately when I’m sitting at home exhausted from work or school I seem to find myself watching more MTV. If it was still 2000 and I was still 10 then it wouldn’t be a problem. But I’m older and you can only watch their pathetic attempts of throwing in real life issues in between drunken, sex sex sex, craved twenty-somethings on the Real World. And the all but scripted Laguna Beaches of MTV. But lately that feeling hasn’t come over me. I find myself looking at the clock so I don’t miss a beat on their new line ups. It’s not all about the 10 spot anymore and at times the new schedule benefits me but also leaves me confused. Some shows start at 9 now, and not at 10 but I think I’m use to it now. The new season of MTV shows are different. They’re interesting to say the least. I’m still upset that this new Road Rules is a bust. Viewer’s Challenge. What the hell.
