Taking Baby Steps Towards Financial Goals
2009-09-10 12:30:00 I’ve received numerous emails from readers asking about how challenging it is to achieve their financial goals because of various circumstances. No matter the situation, there are two ways to look at it, either the good or the bad of the scenario. Focusing on the positive will help motivate and perhaps lead to progress, while focusing on the negative will simply dig the hole deeper. Seems like pretty common sense stuff, but it can be challenging in practice. Do you have major credit card debt? Seems impossible to get out of it? Simply focusing on quickly paying off a $50k debt pile may seem unrealistic, and it probably is. The key, in my opinion, is to take baby steps towards the end goal. Can you budget so that you have more cash flow to put towards the debt? How about consolidating to reduce the interest rate? How about paying off the smallest balance first to keep you motivated? Set smaller goals towards the larger goal and soon the larger goal will be i...
Money and Dating: Finding Someone with Similar Financial Goals
2009-09-01 12:30:00 I had two serious relationships in my 20s, both of which ended in some part because of money incompatibility. When I saw the red flags I had to ask myself, “Can I accept this person as they are, including their money management skills for the rest of my life?” In both cases the answer was a clear ‘no’ and I knew it was time to end the relationship. I am a huge believer in accepting people as they are and never having an agenda to change anyone. When I saw the red flags I mentioned my concern. When I realized we were on different money planets, it was time to move on. Here are some things to look for when dating and to be careful about yourself. 1) Be wary of stinginess I wanted to find someone who was practical and good with their money, someone who hated debt as much as I did but valued generosity and wasn’t afraid to spend as long as they had the funds to pay for it. I did not want someone who was stingy. I went out with a guy once who bought me flowers at a roadsi...

New: Use Google Analytics Goals in AdWords
2009-06-18 13:20:00 Google has just announced that you can now use your Analytics Goals in Adwords. Ostensibly, the reasoning as this opens up the Goals that you use in Analytics to analysis in Conversion Optimizer . My guess is that Conversion Optimizer is quite an underused tool and this is another way to plug it for Google. It is a great tool, and a lot of sites could do with the help it could give, but it is rarely used. However, what is more interesting to me (partly because we’ve been talking about conversion tracking in Google Adwords recently in the office), is that this changes the onus from the code insertion type of conversion to a simpler page name based tracking. Page based tracking does have its pitfalls, particularly if your form submits to itself and doesn’t change URL, but it is a far more common form of tracking. It is used in both Google Analytics and our own Apollo Analytics that feeds into our search marketing system. Last year, Google removed the requirement for th...

Sampdoria vs Ac Milan Goals and Highlights
2009-03-03 05:48:00 Sampdoria 2-1 Ac Milan Serie A Round 26 Stadio Luigi Ferraris, Genoa Milan suffers more setbacks AC Milan’s quest for the Serie A title took a severe blow after they were thrashed by the 14th placed Sampdoria 2-1 at the Ferraris stadium in Genoa. The debacle comes after a shocking UEFA Cup exit at the hands of Werder Bremen, making it a very tough week for Milan and its fans. This loss adds to the slowly fading title hopes for Milan. The match was a follow up after UEFA Cup exits for both Milan and Sampdoria, with both the teams looking to salvage some pride in front of their fans. After the season was ravaged by injuries to most of its star players, Milan pinned its hopes on the newly signed David Beckham and Pato. However, Sampdoria’s hero of the day, Antonio Cassano, came up with a brilliant performance to put paid to their plans to make it a big day. Cassano drew the first blood for Sampdoria after sending in a header in the 33rd minute past Milan’s out of form goalkeeper ...

2009 Goals
2009-01-22 00:25:00 I'm not big on setting New Resolutions. I do, however, make a practice of setting goals at the beginning of each year.A resolution is a vow to change--which is a good thing to desire--but it doesn't necessarily focus on the steps needed to take in order to keep that vow.I could say, "In 2009, I'm going to be a better employee."That's a good resolution to have. (Especially for Christians. We should be the best workers!)But HOW are you going to be a better worker? Chances are, if you don't have a plan, then you will end up forgetting your resolution and again adding it to your list for 2010.On the otherhand, a goal offers a more defined target at which to aim.Instead of vowing to be a better employee, I could say, "I will not be late to work or have any unexcused absences in 2009." See, much more clear-cut and, therefore, easier to achieve.Steven's '09 GoalsLower body fat percentage by 3%Read 15 booksLearn 500 new Cebuano wordsComplete through Lesson 40 in my Cebuano "textbook"...
How to Stay Motivated With Your Fitness and Weight Loss Goals
2009-01-11 05:07:00 Tips from Oprah's trainer , Fitness Guru - Bob Greene 1. Ease Into Weight Loss When most people decide to lose weight, they typically go cold turkey on the Chunky Monkey and chips and dive right into a Spartan menu highlighting vegetables and cottage cheese, determined to do an overnight overhaul of their diet. Wrong approach, Greene says. Gradual is better. "Don't radically change your entire diet overnight," Greene says. Phase in healthier foods a little at a time. "Don't give up all your comfort foods at once, and don't look at snacks as foods that get you into trouble," Greene says. Eating right can and should include snacks, he says. "Snacks are effective weight loss tools. They bridge hunger and help you not to overdo it at a meal." 2. Skip the Scale It's a knee-jerk reaction. You've been on a diet for oh, 24 hours, and you're eager to see your progress. Of course, you'll weigh in. Think again, Greene says. "Stay off the scale for the first month to six w...

Setting Goals: Doing the Splits
2009-01-08 15:53:00 I used to be able to do the splits but if you don't stretch everyday your muscles get tight and even if you gym all the time you might not even be able to touch your toes. My first small goal for January is to be able to do the splits. It might not be learning to play in instrument ( my man is learning to play the guitar) but i need to start small and easy because i have no patience at all!I want things to happen immediately!Anyway here are some tips to help you reach goals small or big!1) Decide what your goal will be: Set an achievable goal for yourself, think about something you truly want to do and can do!2) Be positive when stating your goals:Rather say i will do this no matter how long it takes than saying i will never be able to do this!3) Spread out your goals:Make different goals for different aspects of your life.Work goalFamily goalRelationship goaletc etc...4) Don?t underestimate yourself:You can do a lot more than you think you are capable of, don't be scared of feeli...

The Only Way To Stay True To New Year Goals
2009-01-05 04:02:00 When talking about new year goals some people are skeptical. I was too? up until a few years ago. The main reason I didn?t believe in setting new year goals is because I didn?t follow through. Sure, I would be excited about it in the month of January. February, a little less.. 2009 Financial Goals (Guest Post)
2009-01-04 14:31:00 This is a guest post from my boyfriend, Dan. We'll be living together later this year so we've already set out a budget and personal goals. These are his :) 1) Pay off remaining Citibank balance of $4320.22 by June 1 This should be an easy goal to attain. I have about $375 a month budgeted for this. I also get a monthly that has recently been ranging from $300-$350. Almost all of this bonus goes to my Citibank balance. I should be getting a similar tax return to last year that I will put toward the balance.2) Open an ING Interest Savings Account and accumulate $4000 by the end of the year I plan on using about $900 of my last paycheck in January to open a savings account. After I pay off the Citibank balance in May/June, I will be able to put almost $400 a month into savings.3) Stop financing 100% of every big thing I buy After I move in with ?me? (vs debt), my main focus will be purchases for our home (a desk, a new TV, etc.) I plan on, and will be able to...

Lukas Podolski Goals on Poland Take Germany Leads Group B
2008-06-09 04:04:00 Germany looked the stronger team as the first half unfolded and duly went ahead in the 20th minute after again catching their opponents flat-footed at the back. Gmez sent Klose clear on the right and this time the square pass was perfectly delivered, leaving Podolski to tuck the ball neatly past Boruc. Head bowed and unsmiling, the scorer denied himself a true celebration out of respect for his heritage. Maciej ?urawski might have levelled while Gmez could have increased the German advantage with a clever flick, yet half-time came with no change to the scoreline.Poland's long wait to overcome Germany continues but they next face co-hosts Austria on Thursday, when Germany play today's other winners Croatia.
